Recommend you buy a GPS from a WEB vendor before you head over as you never quite know what is inside the package you get from some stores in HK.
Recommend the following store as I have spent megabucks there with excellent service !!

Bo, I live in Japan and have found the Garmin WORLD MAP to be pretty decent. It will give you the major highways. towns, trains and airports.
I have gathered extensive DBASE of Japan and Thailand waypoints from my deployments. I use it on a GARMIN Legend and GPS III+.

Having been to HK 14 odd times, I recommend you get on the web and order one before you go there. [There are several caches there already]
