  1. Where'd you get that rule? I've never found a micro with a "cache note" in it. I think you're just making up rules because you're upset. Home → Guidelines → Placement Guidelines: governing physical locations → Other Placement Considerations http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=305 Well, based on that, we can now ask GS to archive every nanocache in existence.
  2. Where'd you get that rule? I've never found a micro with a "cache note" in it. I think you're just making up rules because you're upset. A cache needs to have a container and a log. It doesn't stop being a cache if the container is of poor quality and the log is wet. A wet log is not a reason for posting a Needs Archived log. (If it was, half the caches in North Carolina would need to be archived.) I'm still trying to figure out why this one particular cache has you so bent out of shape. Surely it's not the only cache you've found in a poor container with a wet log? Why the stalker behavior?
  3. Some people enjoy puzzles. You obviously are not one of those people. The solution is simple: don't do puzzle caches. Go find the kinds of caches that you enjoy, and ignore any puzzles that pop up in your area.
  4. I don't think a wet log is grounds for a Needs Archived. Have a donut:
  5. I could be wrong, but I think it means "In Between The Lines." Although I'm told that in Scotland it stands for "Injustice By The Law."
  6. You have a challenge that requires vandalism to complete it? Really?
  7. I would have agreed with all of these points when I was caching with my BlackBerry. However, my Android phone is just as reliable as my yellow eTrex. I'd still use the eTrex for hiding a cache, rather than the phone. But I think the idea that ANY dedicated GPSr is better than ANY phone is outdated. Some phones are just as good as, if not better than, some GPSr's.
  8. Life is too short to worry about the logging practices of other geocachers. Too bad about the travel bug, though. I bet a lot of them are lost to newbies who don't understand that they aren't swag.
  9. I started caching years ago using a very inexpensive GPS. It broke, and I didn't cache for a long time. When I got a blackberry and was looking for free apps, I downloaded BlackStar. It worked, and it got me back into Geocaching, but I quickly realized its limitations and bought a yellow Garmin eTrex. Now I have an Sprint/HTC Evo, an Android-based smart phone, with the official Geocaching.com app. It works so well that I rarely use the eTrex any more.
  10. It should also be noted that neither method actually works. At least, I've never gotten any of them to work. According to your profile, you have only done 1 Wherigo. That is hardly a wholesale condemnation of the methods. I have done 1 Wherigo cache. There are other Wherigo's that are not caches, you know.

  12. Bad advice. You either need to fire a weapon, or you don't. You need to fire a weapon if your life, or the life of someone else, is in immediate jeopardy. In that case, you fire to neutralize the threat. Don't waste time with a warning shot, aim for the center of mass. If no one's life is in immediate danger, don't shoot. Period.
  13. PS: It is spelled, 'asterisk'. Its the same symbol that is on the multiplication key on a calculator, or on the numeric pad on any keyboard, between the divide key (/) and subtration key(-) and kitty-corner from the addition key (+) My calculators all have X for multiplication. My keyboard and calculator emulators that run on my PC use a '*' for multiplication. Yeah but in algebra you use X as a varible a lot of the time so a different symbol is needed for multiplication to avoid confusion. Or no symbol at all. Mostly, in algebra, "a times b" is simply written as ab.
  14. You know what would be totally cool? It would be totally cool if the forum had some kind of a search feature, so when people have a question that has been asked a million times before, they could read the answers that have already been posted instead of waiting for people to post new answers. Oh, wait.... OK then, how about this: it would be totally cool if there was some kind of a posting pinned at the top of the forum that answered all of the frequently asked questions. Maybe call it something like "References and Help." Oh. Nevermind.
  15. There was a cache placed in the parking garage at my work a while back; I knew it wouldn't last long, because I knew that the property manager here would never have given permission. It actually lasted longer than I would have expected, but ended exactly as I suspected it would: with cachers being confronted by security, reporting their experience in their logs, and the cache being quickly archived.
  16. Don't forget to post the link to your podcast here so we can all provide you with 'hits'. As a non-traditional student myself, I'm looking forward to watching it.
  17. When I was a kid, my Mom used to make me eat a tablet every day during the summer to keep chiggers from biting. It was "Sulphur and Cream of Tartar." It had sort of a lemony flavor, and was chewable. I don't know if anyone still makes them, though.
  18. It's right up there at the top of the page: Here's a link, since you can't seem to see it: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules And here's the relevant bit:
  19. Wow! That's a great idea! I wonder why no one has thought of it before? </sarcasm>
  20. http://coord.info/GC1GKYR Devil's Caching Ground About the DEVIL'S TRAMPING GROUND A barren circle in the middle of the forest. One of North Carolina's oldest legends. For hundreds of years, nothing has grown in the eerie 40-ft spot. Locals claim that things left in the ring at night are gone by dawn. Changing very little since it was discovered long ago, even scientists from the Department of Agriculture cannot explain the mysterious Devil's Tramping Ground.
  21. I don't know that answer to your question, but I thought I'd point out that Macs can run PC software. The GSAK FAQ says:
  22. It's a used GPS. Maybe the free pm has already been used, too?
  23. This was repelling: Anyway... So, if I come to your event and belay for those who are rappelling, and help serve the refreshments, and generally have a good time and help others have a good time, you'll delete my attended log if I didn't actually rappel? Even if I have a physical or psychological disability that makes it impossible for me to rappel? And on top of that, you'll want to "weed me out," for "bringing the event down?" Really? This whole thread is sort of repelling.
