  1. It happened to me today as well. I tried to login about an hour ago and was met with the "validation screen." I checked my email and found nothing new, then went back to the "validation screen" and requested a re-send. The validation email then showed up in my email----I clicked on the link and then was taken into geocaching.com. Note: I have no other user accounts other than my own, I renewed in August, and my login has worked fine until today's occurrence. I have since logged off and then back on with no problem.
  2. Although this potential solution may be obvious, I'll state it anyhow.... Every one-in-a-while after powering up my Etrex-30 (loaded with at least one PQ), it will state "No Caches." The problem corrects itself if I power down, wait about ten seconds, and then power back up----essentially doing a "reboot."
  3. Suggestion to moderators: When you bump a thread to a different area, recommend you state (in your "bump" message) which forum & topic you bumped it to. Even better, you might consider providing a link to the referenced forum/topic. Not being a "regular" user of the forums, I wanted to make a suggestion about a particular feature. I searched, found the topic, wanted to add my two cents, and found the topic "locked" and "bumped," with no idea where it got "bumped" to.
  4. When I obtain final coordinates from the Whereyougo app, I enter them into my GPSr and then use my GPSr to proceed to the final. The creator of each cartridge determines whether to include the final coordinates as a navigable waypoint within the cartridge---but many just end the cartridge by merely displaying the final coordinates on the screen----it is then up to you to transcribe them to a GPSr or geocaching app. As for unlock codes, you don't really need them. Even if you do manage to enter the correct unlock code, all it does is indicate (on Wherigo.com) that the cartridge has been completed----it doesn't do anything else, as far as I know. "Found It" logs are not entered on Wherigo.com. Once you log your find on geocaching.com, you are done.
  5. The argument of whether a Challenge Cache belongs in the "Unknown" or "Mystery" category is irrelevant. The only issue is whether users should have the ability to use a filter to either select ONLY Challenge Caches, and conversely have the ability to FILTER OUT Challenge Caches. Some people like Challenge Caches and some don't. My dissatisfaction is that, at present, I can't filter out Challenge Caches from my Puzzle Cache PQs and notifications. I don't care whether you make a new cache type or provide some other mechanism for filtering-----I just want the ability to either filter Challenge Caches, and ONLY Challenge Caches, in or out of my PQs and notifications.
  6. One of the biggest drawbacks to the "new" message system is that it presumes that the intended receivers of messages regularly log-in to gc.com, but ample evidence and experience shows that many cachers and COs sometimes go for long periods (i.e., days, weeks and even months) without logging in. Why on earth would I send a "gc-message" to a cache owner or cacher without some certainty that they'll actually log in to read it in a timely manner? Email and normal smartphone text messaging are far more reliable in actually contacting someone who isn't expecting the contact. Just my opinion.
  7. I'm sorry, but the inability to download selected caches renders this "improvement" basically useless to me for most purposes. The old method worked just fine. The new one is all glitz and no guts.
  8. You've got to be kidding me!!! What good is it to get pages full of caches on a search and not be able to download selected ones? Please, please bring back the old search page!
  9. I just tried out the new Advanced Search. Now, how do I select and download a .LOC of selected caches? I can't find checkboxes or any buttons for downloading on the new page.
  10. The "old" email notification subject header was clear, concise, identified the cache, and told me the nature of what happened to the cache. Ex. [GEO]Notify: Reviewer#1 published BigCache (Traditional Cache) For me, the "new format" is far less user-friendly and makes me have to guess what the notification is about. Ex. Instant Notification: BigCache (GCXXXXX) has a new log from Reviewer#1 The "old" format told me all I needed to know. The "new" format tells me nothing of value and requires me to open the email before I can glean what the notification is about. I use the subject headers to decide which notifications to open first. At least, that's what I did with the "old" format. The new format is a step backwards from efficiency. I vote for the "old" format, as the "new" format is most unpleasant. Plain-text in the email was just fine, too. From my perspective, the graphics add nothing. I am fully aware that it is Geocaching.com that sends the notifications and I don't need graphical banners in the body of the email (that take up space that I have to scroll through) to repeatedly remind me who sent it. Just my opinion.
