  1. will the programming code ever be changed so that a event can only be logged as attended only once, just like travel bugs or geocoins, if you move or discover them more than once, it doesnt add to your find count, We still see teams multiple logging of events to mark all the temporary finds, this to me seems it would/could overload the servers where there could only be one log but a team logs upwards of 20 times the same cache, now if 20 teams are at the event this 400 unneaded logs.

    just my thought.

  2. That would be a beautiful coin. I hope you continue to find someone to design this coin and I would love to be able to give this to my wife as she is got hearing problems since a child and may loose her hearing completely some day. This would mean a great deal to her.

  4. When we first started Geocaching we also didnt understand why others added tags to TB's that were not theirs. Then we met MaxB on the River and sat and had a long chat with them at Geobash last year, they are great people who travel quite often all over the country. They move TB's all the time and have moved mass quanties of bugs the tags just make it easier to remember if they had moved them before.

There are times that we cant remember if we have moved a bug before or not, we have ran into the same bug in different states only weeks away and wonder if it is the same one.

My opinion Tags dont hurt, but i would still ask the owner if it is ok

  5. aparently those of you who dont want to log on the site also do not help TB's and Geocoins along to their goals, or maybe that is how they become missing. Might have to come up with a new place for travelers (in the hands of a non logger)

  7. However, virtual logging is using the resources of the gs website...which you do not own. That is what is regulated.

Isnt logging a event cache 15 times or more a overuse of resources of the gs website?

I know that at Geocoin Fest 2007 someone was handing out sheets of coin #'s - I passed on the offer. I think that I've heard that this is common practice at the GeoWoodstock or other large events ...?

We have a collection of over 200 coins also, we let others discover them, but only after they have looked at our collection binders. We do not just set coin lists out for others to just grab, they have to actually look at the coins.

  8. If you are going to use it for ANYTHING other than geocaching it is a ausome unit. We purchased one over a year ago and have been paperless ever since, the one big selling point for us was that if the battery goes dead you dont loose all your info, and that it is WiFi and Bluetooth compatable, the WiFi is nice if you have TB's or Coins to log or just to log in general. We also check for new caches at hotspots if we have been away from home for a few days, we geocache miles and sometimes days from home and it is a allaround ausome unit

I would purchase another one if this one ever dies

Will have our fingers crossed until the envelope comes in the mail hoping for one of the glitter coins.

  10. If you use a program like GSAK to upload to your gps (at least it works for my Garmin) you can set icons to be different for Micros, trad, multi, events, caches owened by you etc. Play around with the GPS upload page, if you use these programs, if not try it out its free for 30 days, and then after that you get a nag screen but full program still works, but it is worth the 20 bucks for the program.
