I hate poison oak...
Atleast I hope that's what it is. No itch, just crazy pain. kinda hard to sleep when it's on your side.
Just last month I got into some poison oak and I can tell you with certainty that the itch is insane.

I downloaded the software but it still doesn't recognize my gps. After installing plug in it did a test and said it was successful. Being brand new maybe I'm forgetting a step.

If you're trying to load a cache directly from geocaching.com to your Oregon the problem could be that the Safari browser and the Garmin communicator sometimes don't play well together if you have the flip4mac plugin installed. I had the same problem and what I did was to download the Camino browser (you could use Firefox too) and this fixed it. Others have simply deleted the flip4mac plugin.
You could also just use a pocket query, unzip it, and then drag and drop into the Garmin/GPX folder when you have the Oregon attached to your Mac. You can also do that with individual caches.
I do have one question though. When you plug you Oregon to your Mac, does the GPSr load as a drive on the desktop? I'm a little confused on that since you stated that the Oregon isn't being recognized.

Help me please??? I would like to know how can I import the pocket queries into Maccaching? Also I want to uploading the caches from Maccaching into Oregon 300? I have tried the different ways and no luck at all for me which its really frustrated me all the time.
It would be appreciated if any of you know about this problem and tell me how to do this.

I tried Maccaching with my Oregon and it would not recognize the device. In looking at the supported receivers listed on their website, the Oregon series is not supported. I tried everything I could think of to get the software to work with my Oregon and came up empty.

I looked at my adapter and didnt see anything.
on the wall side of the adapter at the lower right hand side of the label. It is a IV enclosed in a circle.
Thanks for posting this. I use the BC9009 and I'm pretty sure that I purchased it within that time frame, but there isn't a IV enclosed in a circle. I've e-mailed their support to be certain.

I work on a Macbook Pro and a while back, I encountered a similar problem. What I discovered is that the Garmin Communicator and the Safari browser didn't play well together since I had the Flip4mac plugin installed. You can try removing the plugin, or do what I did ... I downloaded the Camino browser and everything worked fine. Not too long ago, I updated Safari, Flip4mac, and upgraded to Snow Leopard. Now, Safari and the communicator actually communicate. I like the Camino browser so I still use it rather than Safari.

It is certainly puzzling why some cache owners don't maintain their caches. I know some have quit the game and never went out to retrieve their caches. For the particular cache you've mentioned, have you tried to e-mail the CO? If it's an ongoing problem and the CO doesn't appear interested in doing anything, maybe you should log a need archive.

i've been tempted to get one, but i think i'd destroy it the first time i slid down a rock face on it. granted, it's not my preferred use of the GPS, but every so often i find myself really smacking it, or dragging it, or getting it caught on things. the 60csx stands up to a LOT of abuse the more full-featured, refined units just won't take.
it's worth considering, if you find yourself on rough terrain and in bad weather with any regularity.
That's the reason I went with the PN-40 instead of the 300 when both Garmin and Delorme had a sale in December. I have never worried about dropping my 60 and I feel the same way about my PN-40.
You wouldn't have to worry about dropping an Oregon either. Mine's been dropped more than once on the rocks.
i'm not really talking about dropping it; it's more a case of dropping it face down on jagged rock with my full weight on top of it while sliding several feet.
Yeah ... I guess that would mess up just about any unit unless you have it encased in some type of bullet proof housing.

I'm not too thrilled with much of the swag that I find. Most of it is pretty useless. The ones I dislike the most though are those little gummy type of toys. They're gooey and I've actually seen one completely melted inside a cache. It ruined almost all the other swag within the cache. I should add one more item and that is unprotected fishing lures. I've only found one but I had imagined how much it would have hurt if I got stuck by it.

I bought my first GPSr last summer and initially it was a toss-up between the Oregon 400t and 60CSx. I read the reviews on both and the edge seemed to go the way of the 60CSx. However, I was very interested in the paperless feature of the Oregon so I ended up buying it. A friend of mine has a 60CSx and when we're out geocaching together, sometimes he's right on and sometimes it's my Oregon that's more accurate. If there is a difference, I don't believe it's a significant one. I find the Oregon to be very easy to learn and operate and I love the paperless feature. Not once have I wished that I got the 60 CSx. In fact, I purchased a second Oregon 400t as a backup unit and as a unit I can let a newbie use when I teach them the ropes. I have a feeling that I'll soon be getting an Oregon 450t and giving one of the 400t's to my daughter.

After trying at least four different brands/capacities, I've settled on the Powerex 2700 mAh NiMH and use the LaCrosse BC-900 charger.

I have an Oregon series and I would think your Dakota would be very similar. As Starbrand commented, it should show up "as a little closed box much the same as the Geocaching Google maps."

I've seen caches hidden in the resin garden critters that you can find at Lowes or Home Depot. One was a raccoon and had a few dnf's, and the other was a rabbit. I'm considering doing something like that in the near future as soon as I can find a fairly realistic looking garden critter that will blend in with the Southern California flora. I also saw one that was drilled into the underside of a boulder that weighed around 70 lbs. It was a small cache, and was very well camoed. You had to look closely at the underside of the boulder to be able to see it.

At least no one steals them anymore.
Actually, I purchased one of those from the Groundspeak shop that's attached to a carabiner. I attach it to a loop on my pack. I'm sure I'll find a way to lose it too.
