  1. Acontece a toda a hora. Então desde que alguém abriu a porta e deixou entrar os mosquitos, é uma coisa louca. Quando se quer recrutar a todo o custo, depois a matéria-prima é assim. Nem sabe o que é um TB.
  2. Just curious: what's your link with Portugal? From all nations, why do you seek a portuguese geocacher pen pal? :-)
  3. Cool thing. I'm not in a rush. Just to know if I can forget the issue. Thanks.
  4. Well, I just noticed my TB traveled from Portugal to Belgium, was dropped in a cache there and still didn't count those miles / kilometers. And it was a week ago. Is this normal?
  5. I own both Garmin and Magellan handheld units. Garmin is Ok, Magellan sucks. So simple as this. All the attitude of the company is offensive towards their clients. Software is awful, sometimes surreal (my top one is the "turn off the unit, loose your GoTo Waypoint" if in Point-to-Point). I will never buy a Magellan again, that's for sure. Unless a lot changes in Magellan's world. Now, hate? Dudes, this is just a piece of "machinery". I couldn't care less. I don't hate anything in this equation. I only keep the statement: Magellan sucks at almost all levels beeing in my opinion the software development the worst, because it's beyhond all logic. Another assorted example of the sucking Magellan: in the second day using the unit, and I highlight THE SECOND DAY, the paint of the icons in the buttons started to fade out. After a week there was no icon at all in the joystick button. Soom there will be no icons in any button. Meanwhile I have been playing PS2 using the buttons non-stop, with enormous "violence", clicking, handling, abusing of those buttons... any paint fading out? Don't think so. It's not a Magellan after all. Another assorted example of the sucking Magellan: I was stupid enough to buy a car support for the unit of Magellan (instead of a cheap universal PDA support). First day using it, it was broken ! Wow! This must be the reason why the cost 6x the price of a universal support!

Alguém usa este software de paperless geocaching para PDA? Não há forma de evitar que ele mostre os espaços onde as imagens deveriam ficar? Aquilo irrita-me tanto, mas tanto......... !!!
  8. I just bought a QTek PDA and yesterday I spend a few hours trying the three programs mentioned in this thread. My two cents about them: 1) GxpSonar: the coolest one. Nicest and presenting more features. However, it's not reliable at least if you are using heavy databases. I tried one with 900 caches and had lots of problems. The software crashed a few times. What a pitty! This would be the obvious choice if not so unreliable handling this kind of databases. 2) CacheMate: reliable, fast but ugly and too simple. I like beuaty in a program, sorry, it's the way I am. Cannot use this one for sure. 3) Gpxview; a good balance between the previously mentioned programs. However there is something annoying: the program tries to display the images in cache listing. I unmarked "Display external images" and it keeps trying to show them. So, in a word, I did not find my love in this quest :-)
  9. It must be pretty easy. The answer must be all around these foruns. But I can't rememver a good string to make this search: What if I forget to drop the TB when I write the Found It log of the cache? I must be blind but I can't see how to make the drop after that. Any help?
  10. I got a pretty good response from members in the local forums for my translations. Post a quick one in the French and Spanish speaking forums for what you want translated and they'll likely respond fairly quick. I had translations for about 17 different languages in roughly 10 days. ya know, I forgot all about that until you posted. Hummmm there must be more then a dozen significant languages in Europe; why would you care to translate that stuff? Isn't Geocaching.com in English only? That means each geocacher must have basical knowledge of english. Personally I only create caches in english and always log in english. This is a worldwide game and it's not a good idea to encourage the usage of individual languages. I already suffer enough when I go, let's say, to Czech Republic and I'm stopped to find a good part of their caches because they won't create an english (meaning, an "everybody except czechs) version of their caches. Anyway, if I heard correctly I heard you mentioning "Europe" and "French" - "Spanish". Just a quick reminder: countries size /population doesn't mean Geocaching community "power". Portugal as a 5th os Spain population and almost the same number of caches and geocachers.
  11. Hello ! Yes, naturally I have to leave the luggage in a locker. I watched the spot you mentioned in GE and it's still frightening. I see a bridge crossing the highway, south of that point, but I'm not sure if pedestrians are allowed there. There is another bridge a few hundred meters east of the first one, again, not sure if pedestrians are allowed. Any of those bridges will solve my problem, yes. By the way... is the terminal of the airport at its east or west facilities?
  12. Hello ! I will be spending a whole day in Stansted airport, travelling from Newquay to Portugal. I took a look at the area, using Google Earth and I noticed there are a few caches around the airport, at a walkable radius. But I also noticed lots of roads, some of them looking like highways. Someone knows if it's a good idea to leave the airport trying to reach some of these by foot?
  13. Oh this could be really good news. I'm so anxious about this expected upgrade.... how certain would you classify this rumour to be? :-)
  14. In every community there is always a group of followers. It seems we have here a good number of these persons. Waco persons. Yes, praise the Lord. Thank Him because this system is perfect. Thank Him because its uptime is idilic. Praise the Lord. We don't find any bugs in the Lord's kingdom. And if there is any, it's the Devil fault. The Lord never fails. If not Devil's fault is someone else fault. We all praise the dynamic of the System, always with new features, always improving. It's Heaven upthere, in Groundspeak nest. A pitty that only the faithfull followers will notice it.
  15. Ok, finally found the drivers: http://www.nextdestination.com.au/Pages/Do...ndName=Magellan Amazing how Magellan fails to offer this important piece of data on its website.
  16. That's odd. I receive the message: "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".
  17. You would go into NEMA mode so you can watch your position while using software as MS AutoRoute or Google Earth Plus.
  18. SP2. It will ask for drivers only in this situation. Not for file transfer.
  19. Hello ! I want to use my eXplorist as a NMEA Data Comm device connectet to MS AutoRoute. When I turn it on, a Windows XP notice appears saying that Magellan Explorist was found and kinda of ask for the drivers. I don't know where I have the box, manuals and eventual CD's from the original package. I'm not finding any reference to Windows Drivers in Magellan official website (support - product eXplorist 500). Any ideas about this situation?
  20. Oh no :-( I still can't use the program. As soon as I launch the program, going to the second step, after clicking OK in the message "database could not be found", and don't have access to any menu. Thought this was due to absence of landscape mode. But now you say landscape is supported... and still no menu.
  21. Yes, landscape mode should be supported by January. Oh man I hardly can wait ! You see, I've got a modified PDA which was origincally a dedicated TomTom device... never managed to have a paperless geocaching app before Smache. Now you can better understand my frustration when I noticed that it was working but....... no landscape mode :-)
  22. Any news about new firmware to the Xl / 600 / 500 models ? It's strange... usually customers paying more receives better service. Not with Magellan, it seems. XL / 600 / 500 owners are still stucked to the limitations of its units firmwares, which are still lousy. I would love to have the new features in my 500.
  23. I'm very permissive as far as there isn't money involved, as it happens with thousands of amazing free projects all over the net. Geocaching is growing? The site is growing? So is Groundspeak income. All leveled accordingly to the natural law of growing... but again, natural laws are not part of Groundspeak logics. Oh by the way... someone corrects me if I'm wrong but this issue is not related with webserver overusing but to DOS (not the old Gates creation, it's Denial Of Service).
  24. Well, I run a server, a small hosting service... I cannot imagine how could I deprive my customers of service for more than an hour. This Busy Server is not acceptable, specially taking in mind this is not an isolate occurence. From times to times... Busy Server. Interesting Premium Feature.
  25. Hey ! I was trying to test your program but... It seems it won't display the menu on my screen. You seen, the screen of my PDA is kinda "widescreen", I mean, horizontal pixels are more then vertical pixels. I guess you are aware of this issue, but do you have plans to release a version of the program for PDA's like mine? Thank u in advance,
