  1. These are quite a bunch, I just had forgotten how they work... it's basically based on their mood... like "Err... I don't think so". Another set of great ambassadors *NOT* of the game. Grand Openings http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMPG87_Porto_de_Abrigo_da_Culatra_Faro_Portugal Initial vote call comment:Is it okay? Vote comments: [nay] Just add a Paragraph about who inaugurated in the long description. [nay] It's missing some information about who inaugurated in the description and more information about the harbor would be appreciated. Thank you.
  2. Years later, a new category added: Equestrian Statues. Declined on account of the picture not being good enough. Why not good enough? Because the statue is in a small park surrounded by trees and there is no space to take a picture from a better distance. So, better not having a statue waymarked than having it with the best possible photo. Not counting with the disrespect to the waymarker who has the effort of creating it. So the picture can be seen, here is the link: https://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/wm12A4R_Manuel_Dorrego_Buenos_Aires_Argentina After months, a new category was added to my blacklist. This happens when there are officers who don't follow their own categories rules, declining Waymarks which follow them. It was Hostels, as reported here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=315104&view=findpost&p=5327393&hl=hostels&fromsearch=1 Now the case is more serious because it's collective. In the categories Converted Fountain I submitted the following WM: http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMPH5K_The_Fish_Porto_Portugal Now, obviously this fountain was not converted for a different purpose and because of that I double checked the category rules, which say: Description: Any fountain that once featured running water but is now permanently out of service or converted to another use. Expanded Description: Any outdoor or indoor fountain that previously had running water but no longer does. If the fountain now has another use, please describe it. As it says there, being "now permanently out of service" is enough. It's the case with my WM. To make things clearer, "If the fountain now has another use, please describe it." If there is an "If" then it's not mandatory that the fountain has now another use. And this are the answer in the poll: [nay] Is it just turned off. Not too converted. [nay] I am sorry, but the fountain has not been converted to anything, it just doesn't work anymore. [nay] Sorry, but this one is just not working and not converted into another use like being a great location for flowers, etc. Do these officers know how to read English or did they bother to read their own category rules? Either way, I already got one in these category and for me is enough. Fortunately I have enough years of Waymarking to prevent me from being globally upset with the game. But it's always disturbing to see that these attitudes - one of the main reasons why Waymarking never got on the right track to success - are still around. Specially when a couple of the most experienced Waymarkers are involved.
  3. It's my interpretation that if there is an explanation in the form of a sign, we are observing a significant site. If for no other reason, because someone (a municipality, a tourism board, etc), decided the place was interesting enough to be explained from a geological point of view. I personally consider this potential category redundant and I will vote accordingly.
  4. I see. I am afraid my WM won't qualify there as the place was not build specifically to meet those needs, but interesting one, I will keep my radar on for that :-)
  5. I think - but I might be wrong - that there was a category where one could insert waymarks with braille signs, a category for equipment to help the disabled... any ideas?
  6. No Bruce, I am araid you are not following me... the only place where things changed was in Waymarking.com after I upload the pictures. In my computer things are the same regarding how pics are visualized. P.S. - I didn't mention any Win 10 OS :-)
  7. BruceS, there is something wrong with that possible cause: as mentioned I didn't change the device, therefore the EXIF creation it's being done exactly as before, when uploaded pictures would show correctly in Waymarking. I assume EXIF is not automatically edited by the Windows Viewer when one opens the file for viewing.
  8. Perhaps, but then we are not in Geocaching.com but in Waymarking.com.
  9. Recently the pictures I took with my Oregon 550 in portrait orientation started to show up in landscape orientation after they are uploaded to Waymarking. Only thing it changed in my end was the OS (from XP to 8). In Windows viewer and anywhere they always show correctly. It's a bit annoying to open these pics with an editor just to save them there. If I do this then they upload OK. Any idea why all this is happening?
  10. I get visit e-mails daily. I don't get visits daily but have a few every week. Always from the same two guys, who are geocachers and find waymarks I created in geocaches locations. Denial it's useless. I had this conversation with someone before. Waymark is a flop, a failure... like it or not (double meaning: like it being a flop, or like Waymark). Sorry for the off-topic. As to the topic, I will never support anything regional/national. A wider category sounds good. Specially if it also accepts trees. I had enough of all the demands for a waymark in the Trees category.
  11. Not that's so important for the cause of Waymarking, but after 10 months of inactivity creating WM's, I am back as expected... just went through a long kind of controlled WM resting period.
  12. "Rock Gardens They don't fit into any existing category" And I wonder... how about "Gardens". Where do they fit (that rock gardens don't) ?
  13. I don't think GS will drop WM mainly due to the high Pagerank, which is amazingly strong. As to more/less players now, I am not sure. I noticed a clear increase in the number of logs in my own wm's. That was encouraging. I am not submitting at the moment but I know it's a temporary condition, just having a break and also I am now working more than before so I don't have as much time. But soon I will resume my activity. I keep taking pictures and actively looking for Wm places when I am moving. Just now I came from Iceland and came packed.
  14. Well, naval artillery fits in Artillery something, which already exists. However, a torpedo launcher, although a naval weapons system is not artillery. Like a depth charge is not artillery.
  15. I checked both of these categories after your last post and released all that were showing pending. I have checked again today and there are none waiting approval. However, I can not see ones that are stuck in group vote. Please list the waymark numbers and I will look further. Hello! Thanks for your attention. I did notice one of the stuck waymarks was approved, it must has been by you. The other stuck waymark, as you well noted, is under vote for 11 weeks now: http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMN6BN_Catillo_de_Jagua_Cienfuegos_Cuba Anyway, I followed the steps provided to take over abandoned categories and I would really like to find a solution for these two abandoned categories, either by leading at least one of them or by finding a willing leader. It was with this in my mind that I messaged Checkmark and sent the copy of my contacts to the leaders, as indicated. But to no avail, no answer, zero, nil.
  16. Another week is gone. No notice from either of the categories leaders or from Checkmark. One of the waymarks was approved though. With no comments.
  17. Category: Best Kept Secrets Waiting for one since 12th November. 23rd February. Just mailed the leader. Category: Pirates Waiting for one since 3rd January. 23rd February. Just mailed the leader. Emailed Checkmark ten days. No reply. All this is a bit upsetting. It makes me feel like Waymarking is a floating wreck.
  18. Back to the track... anyone interested in taking over Pirates category, if it turns out necessary? So far I didn't hear back from the leader and my WM is still waiting... for two months. I will request a takeover in Best Kept Secrets if necessary and it that happens new officers will be needed.
  19. I quoted and I clarified that for you. Did I not?
  20. waywizard? Not checkmark as explained here (http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=309195) ?
  21. Good. Perhaps now we can have proper officers there. Not talking about being active but about being... well... I am gonna skip the adjective.
  22. Really? Am I ruining this game? Although I am not an English native speaker, I believe this is an unfortunate choice of word. I think he's referring to members who accumulate categories and hold them as personal property, keeping ghost officers who are not active and not seeking active members to replace them.
  23. Category: Best Kept Secrets Waiting for one since 12th November. Just mailed the leader. Category: Pirates Waiting for one since 3rd January. Just mailed the leader.
  24. Things are better in the last couple days. Why are you active just once per week? I hope everything is OK with you :-)
