  1. I know - dubliners have been mighty busy! Its very bizarre. I might just reload the older map and see if that works instead. UPDATE I have downloaded the non routable version and that works fine - not sure what was up with the other one tho!
  2. If you are using any of the full UK mapsets I produce, then yes, they include Ireland (North and the Republic), Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Scotland, England and Wales too. Are you sure you haven't just downloaded the UK Contours only mapset? Regards, Martin Nope definitely not contours only as GB has all roads and contours, but when i scroll over to Eire it has contours only - Any ideas? I just double checked again - wales has full roads and contours - i then cross the sea and nothing - not even dublin - just names and contours. It was the most recent routable version i downloaded. Thanks
  3. I'm probably being stupid here, but does the full UK map set include Ireland? I only seem to have contours rather than roads and contours as in the GB map? If not, is there any way for me to add the Ireland map without removing the GB one? Thank you so much for these maps, they are wonderful. I do try and update the OSM site regularly, hopefully soon we'll have the lot covered!!
  4. As the title says, i accidentally logged a TB into the wrong cache and i don't know how to correct it. I don't have the TB no any more, so can't grab it back. Should i just amend the log and say that the TB is not here and where the TB is (its the neighbouring cache - hence the confusion). What an idiot i am!
  5. i just released my first travel bug recently and i've realised that there is something else that i would like to add to him. I placed him in a cache about 2 weeks ago and he hasn't moved yet. If i go tomorrow and collect him - is it appropriate for me to also move him to a busier a cache - as long as i log it properly - or is that frowned upon?
  6. Thanks for the advice - i will leave a note re the coin.
  7. I looked the name up and its fairly local - but maybe they have gone on hols now and forgot to post.
  8. Thanks for the swift reply! I will wait a few days then and see if it has been logged and if not 'grab it' as you suggest.
  9. I went to a cache today that was supposed to have a TB in it. When i got there, it had been picked up 2 days ago and noted in the log book only (i checked geocaching maps before i left). I was a bit disappointed as it was going to be my first TB. Anyway i moved on to the next cache and in there was a Geocoin (my first). When i got home i looked it up and it has been logged as being picked up at the beginning of the month, but no log has been left for dropping him off yet. How long do people normally wait before logging items and if it is not logged - how do i show that i'm now in possession of the coin? Thanks
  10. We have a mountain buggy terrain - which has literally gone up mountains! It will go through deep mud, sand snow etc with no probs whatsoever. Sometimes suspension isn't always a great idea as it often gets clogged up with mud - instead, if the seat is suspended properly, this should absorb the bumps. We also have two back carriers - a framed one - which also acts as a backpack made by bush baby and and Angel Pack soft carrier. We change around depending on the type of walk we are doing and how up for carrying i feel!
  11. It's entirely up to you on what to upgrade to. It just happened I had some birthday money spare and went for the Oregon. As a general rule of thumb, IMHO the hierarchy goes like this: Get you there – printing out Google maps; sat nav. Point you to GZ – e.g. Etrex Paperless Geocaching – e.g. Oregon Geocaching online – e.g. iPhone; HTC Sort of going off topic: As technology gets cheaper, the 'one-gadget-does-all' like the iPhone and HTC will become the norm. Sort of making the hand held GPSr redundant. I'm sure the guys at Garmin are worried about this, that's probably why they put a camera in their latest model. You may hold fire for a while and Garmin/DeLorme will sell off all models as they enter the 'one-gadget-does-all' market. Trouble is it is more difficult to enter this market from the GPS side than it is from the computer-in-your-pocket side (like iPhone and HTC). Just my thoughts. Thanks for all the advice everyone - i really appreciate it. I think i will wait until my phone upgrade in a few months time - hopefully i will cope with the TT until then

  13. Thanks for the replies Tavisman - thank you for that tip - it was exactly what i needed - just couldn't remember how to access it. All i got where static coordinates which weren't v useful. I guess TomTom may last a bit longer now! What do the cheaper handheld ones do in comparison to a car one? Would i be better off waiting to afford a new Garmin Oregon instead? Cheers guys
  14. As you can imagine from the title - i'm an v raw recruit - but completely hooked already! I've been looking for all my local caches using my TomTom (no laughing please) before i upgrade. Whilst the TomTom is pretty good when caches are right on paths - its not much help in woods as it never accurately tells me where i'm going and i can't set coordinates to view on the map screen. Is that just because i haven't set it up properly and am just being girlie and rubbish or because there is really no point and i should get a proper handheld one instead? If i should upgrade what would be most suitable with a limited budget - would something like any of the etrex ones be any better than a TomTom or do i need to spend £££? Sorry for being yet another newbie in need of help
