That is pretty neat. No wonder it has gotten so many favorite points. Thanks LewisClan!

So... my coin has traveled 1600 miles now... mostly through Germany... landed in this cache today that has 99 likes. I typed it into babel fish (as I don't speak German). I still can't understand what it says. Anybody care to help me http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=6a363256-7d9f-4ce4-bd76-56b47b874497

What Was In THE CACHE Today! (cache and release coins)
goosefraba1 replied to Savoy's topic in Trackables
Could it be??? I actually found a coin in a cache today. Crazy. It is a Canadian micro. Will post pics later and then help it move along. Anybody else find coins in the wild lately? -
So... My cow has only been picked up once since the event. If nothing else I will just resurrect it as a travelbug. A newbie picked up one of my other cows and hasn't responded to my email to please "grab" it from a cache. Might end as a resurrected also. I have one cow moving :/

Wow... That wedding band traveler is interesting. At least it gets a new use. Can't believe it is still moving.

Opalsns... Went to the hopewell mounds yesterday and took a pic of a raven effigy pipe that made me think of you randomly. Will post a pic later.

I wonder when they will bring out the Caveman Travel Tag. "Moving Travelers without losing them/stealing what they are attached to is so easy a Caveman could do it!"
-
Alright.... Thanks Eartha! I had no idea.

AS far as the current Geico travel tags... just think about throwing say 5,000 tags into the wild. They will probably pass through 10 cachers hands before being temporarily lost. That is 50,000 people reached... saying "Hi... yes we are an insurance company that cares about your interests". Well 10 years down the road... guess what... some of these tags will re-emerge to see another 10 people or so. That is a large mass of people advertised to for just about say.... $20,000 between paying for the tags (the real price not retail)... paying Groundspeak for the rights... and paying for the Magellans that they are handing out in the sweepstakes. Then... we are the ones doing the legwork. $20,000 is not even a pin drop to a giant company like that. Will they get a return... who knows?

Rise of the Planet of the Apes Caches?
goosefraba1 replied to goosefraba1's topic in General geocaching topics
I doubt it also.... but just recently noticed that Geico is taking a claim into the world of travel tags.... so ya never know. -
Just wondering if there were any plans for a "pre-quel" series of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" caches to be placed to coincide with the upcoming movie?
-
Just saw a preview for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".... will there be any advertisement travelers from them... since the franchise is already established within geocaching?

INTERNATIONAL...Kitchin Sink MINIMission
goosefraba1 replied to WRITE SHOP ROBERT's topic in Trackables
You could always go to King's Island in Cincinnati, Ohio -
This is totally going to be in the next kitchen sink mission! Flip flop mop!

I have seen on their tracking page, though, that some have traveled as far as Germany. I am guessing that the loophole would be to have yours sent to an American address and then have them release it for you. This might be slightly dishonest... but that is the price they pay for trying to sell insurance through geocaching.

Will send you a PM

I see that is a pretty good idea. LOL.... Now back to your scheduled showing.

Stag and Doe?

I'm going to have to applud Geico in a way, though. I mean each travelbug will probably be seen by about 10 people tops before being lost temporarily.... if they send out say 5,000 tags.... that is a 50,000 person audience (for now). Well in 10 years when people find the TB that they lost before moving to another cache there is the ability for it to be seen by another 10 people. That is just smart marketing.... LOL At least they look decent.

Now that is how to re-release! Very good ideas.... and I like the write-ups on them as well. They seem to be traveling well. Just wondering... what did the set-up look like on the Hawaiian postcard. I mean did you laminate it or anything to keep from mildew in the cache? I got the postcard off Ebay then stuck the TB tag where the stamp would be, wrote a message on it (Can't remember what!) and then laminated the whole thing, so the tag is laminated into place. MrsB That's what I figured... I need to get creative with my "extra TB codes". Thanks for some inspiration.

Just saw this sweepstakes... and chance to get a free travel tag. Of course... I love free stuff and ordered one. I will probably get a ton of junk mail from Geico in return. Any thoughts on this. Is there any precedence for this. I can think of only the Jeep travel tags. Geico Travel Tag and Sweepstakes

What is the Saffire coin towards the bottom... that looks pretty neat.

It is an illusion! Man I wish I had half the talent as some of the people around here.
