  1. I travel 56.6 miles to maintain one cache (as the crow flies). 8 are between 35-45 miles, and 3 are less than 5 miles.
  2. Sounds like you'd be hard-pressed to even hide one in your front yard! As for me, I've got 13 within 10 miles. 16 if you count mine.
  3. At least you use proper spelling and punctuation. It seems like some cachers have spent a large investment of time in learning how to use a GPS, and still don't know or care little about the English language.
  4. from curiosity, I would want to know, who finally it was the right solution.. The cache owner told me to go to the listed coordinates and it will "be clear when I arrive." I guess we'll all have to wait and see! I won't be in the area of the cache until the end of April.
  5. It seems like cache descriptions are getting shorter and shorter. Is that because good locations are becoming harder to come by? Here's one that I'm guessing is quite lame (no finds yet): That Bridge The hint cracks me up! And here's the shortest one I've ever seen: Sounds like a Tribute cache for me :-) So how about it? Caches with longer descriptions = more enjoyment?
  6. I think I see what the OP is getting at. Rather than running out and snatching the coin or bug he would like the owner to wait for a couple weeks before moving them along, thereby giving other visitors the chance to go grab it themselves. Makes sense to me, but I really don't see a problem with owners moving the coin anytime they feel like it. That's what trackables are for.. moving.
  7. If you post a DNF every time you look for it, perhaps the owner will replace it with an ammo box. There's no need for a micro in this kind of area.
  8. I've emailed the cache owner with the first set of coordinates. I live 95 miles from the cache so hopefully he'll let me know if we're right. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks.
  9. Can someone recommend a few caches in Rome? I'll be there for parts of two days. Preferably regular size caches where I might be able to drop a bug or two. Thanks.
  10. I'm currently working on solving this cache and need help from Greek speaking persons. Thanks in advance!
  11. I'll be on a cruise in a couple months and will be stopping at Mykonos, Athens, and Rhodes. Can you recommend any caches in these areas of Greece? Thank you.
  12. I've had a 1-gallon mason jar for a cache since Sept '04 and one since April '05. They're see-through (unlike ammo cans) and completely water-tight. There's no need for a geocaching sticker. Simply tape the stash sheet to the inside so it's readable without opening. They were the only glass container I had seen until caching in Portland, Oregon recently. Cachers there are starting to use glass canning jars. I think it depends on the area. Obviously, you wouldn't use glass near rocky areas. And if it breaks you are responsible for the clean up. Just my .02.
  13. Gotta love camo duct tape... No lead paint to sand :-) [
  14. No, I was not stirring the pot. I got my question answered the old-fashioned way. Question Rescinded. I still don't know why it's in bold, though.
  15. Strange... "Log books are required for each cache and are to be provided by the owner of the cache" is the only bolded text in the document. Why? What's it to the Parks Department whether there's a log or not?
  16. Aztoma, I totally agree. The person who got me involved in caching always had something to say in each and every log, and I've come to appreciate this. Being the owner of 10 caches it's more than just a little dissappointing when you spend a considerable amount of time finding a hiding place and camoing a cache just to receive a "TNLNSL." Geocaching should be about location. If you've got nothing to say maybe you should stop and smell the roses more often.
  17. Since your question never really got answered: Mulnomah Falls Cache Looks all of the 3-star terrain rating. Follow the path to the top and keep going a spell. I haven't done it personally, but it's on my to-do list.
  18. Historical site attribute? Sounds good in theory, but I can see how this would easily become overused and abused.
  19. "It had a very sinister appearance," [Massachusetts Attorney General Martha] Coakley told reporters. "It had a battery behind it, and wires."(in reference to the Cartoon Network promotion in Boston) Picture of the 38 lite-brites seen across town. Turns out they were placed in 9 other cities as well with no media attention. Geocachers may find this article interesting: Be smart, yes! And don't live in Boston since just about anything appears sinister.
  20. Definitely BillyBobNosePicker. He sounds like a great guy (for those who may remember).
  21. Here are some near the interstate starting with Baker City and heading Northwest toward Portland: Archimedes' Constant, a puzzle cache you can solve at home. Take the first Baker City exit, left on Myrtle Street, can't miss it. If you can afford to take a slight detour I'd recommend the 5-mile drive after taking the 3rd Baker exit (towards Richland) and heading east towards the Interpretive Center. You'll run right into a virtual, Oregon Trail. Right down the road (.4 miles) is my Cachin' below the I.C. cache. It's a bit of a walk but you may be ready for one at this point. 35 miles down I-84 you'll want to hit For the Birds. Take the Foothill Road exit. Take a right and a quick left to the trailhead. It'll be another opportunity for a walk along a nature trail. At a quick pace you could do it in under 20 minutes. You can do this in conjunction with Viewing Pleasure. Just make sure you backtrack to the Interstate.. it's more direct than travelling through town. Unless of course you want to solve my SP Tribute Cache. It's on the edge of town near Viewing Pleasure. From SP Tribute head SE to get back to 84. Last, you'll definitely want to hit Hilgard "High". It's a park and grab at a State Park just off the interstate. It's a micro that's a bit outside the box.
  22. Will Riffster also sell the original patented formula for big $$$? Hey, didn't I hear your voice on podcacher tonight?
  23. My favorite caches are the 1/4 to 1/2-mile hikes. You can do several of these in a day and don't have to worry about packing a whole bunch of stuff. In fact, I've created a public bookmark containing these very caches that I've found.
  24. I don't see any of the "more experienced" ones talking about quitting because of the type of hide. In fact, none of the logs seem to come close to that. Why don't you take the advice given and let it chill for a time!
  25. 2nd time MIA in 3 months? Sounds like time to archive.. It also sounds like they're tired of people coming to the location and not shopping. It's probably the staff who saw the location and promptly removed the cache. Makes perfect sense to me.
