  1. Here's an idea. I'm curious about what people think of it. Let's say, hypothetically, I was planning a surprise party for a caching friend of mine. Let's also say that this surprise party was planned at a local restaurant/bar/pool hall/arcade/general-all-around-fun place, a place where all ages are welcome. Now, because my hypothetical friend is a geocacher, I wanted to make his surprise party an Event Cache. My plan would be to have the cache released mere hours before the party, in the hopes that my hypothetical friend doesn't see the cache page and put two and two together. The idea would be that the coordinates of the cache would take you to the front door of the establishment, and the web page would show a picture of my hypothetical friend. The cachers job would be to find their way to the coordinates, and then inside the building to find my hypothetical friend. They can then log the cache by finding my hypothetical friend, who would be forced to carry the cache around with him all night. There would be trade items, a log book, etc. And most likely, the cache would change from Event to Traditional after the night was over. The idea is to have a different sort of Event Cache, and to have my hypothetical friend (who is not overly excited by Event Caches) meet geocachers he probably wouldn't otherwise meet. What do people think? Can a Event Cache like this be pulled off? Should an Event Cache like this be approved? Do you see any problems with an Event Cache like this?
  2. Team 720? He's spun so many circles he should be Team Human Cyclone by now! Seriously, I welcome you back too.
  3. Wait... Team 360 is back? Can someone Markwell me to a discussion on this? There has to be SOME thread about the return of 360. Again.
  4. First, I'd like to go on record and say that my conspiracy theory about how TPTB were purposefully slowing down the forums to put a damper on the arguing apparently didn't Pan out. Maybe there was no second shooter on the grassy knowl. Second, I was going to post this to the topic in which I actually made that accusation... but I don't know how to find that topic. And I can't remember which one it is. On the old forums (may they rest in peace) you could click on your name and view your recent posts. Am I missing the manner in which I would do that in the new forums?
  5. Okay. You're right. I'll start paying again. I'm not sure why I stopped in the first place, I think it was a credit card expiration date issue that I never took the time to resolve. Maybe their plan is to let me use the service, then bill me for it later! SON OF A...
  6. I'm not a dues paying member, but I used to be. I noticed today that my avatar subtitle was changed to its previous, member-status, status. FREE AVATAR SUBTITLES!!! Uh oh, here come the mods!
  7. Why not just delete unwanted pictures from your "update your profile" page? Pan Outside of dogs, reading is man's best friend. Inside of dogs... it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
  8. Its a conspiracy I tell you. They want the forums to be nice and slow so people can't post rash reactions to less-than-civil posts. These nice slow built in delays mean calmer heads prevail. By limiting page loads and postings to just a few per hour, people are thinking about what they post instead of popping off a couple dozen worthless tidbits. Quality over quantity can be a good thing. K.I.S.S. This may be true. In fact, I think the recent slowness of the forums is a conspiracy to accomplish exactly this goal. 11. Come on... admit it... you're just posting here because you want more people to read The Book. Right? Pan Outside of dogs, reading is man's best friend. Inside of dogs... it's too dark to read. - Unknown

  13. The room isn't shut down, I just decided to leave it. The room shows me as "left", but there is a way to keep reading the new posts which I stumbled upon. I'm not trying to make a stir, I just wanted to know if someone knew if it was intentional, or if it was a bug. Jeremy seems to say it is a bug, but I don't really see a need to fix it. Just curious. 15. Are you supposed to be able to read private topics after you "leave" the room? There is a way to do so, am I'm just curious if its a bug, or if it is intentional. Pan Outside of dogs, reading is man's best friend. Inside of dogs... it's too dark to read. - Unknown

  18. I was talking about "Dr. Jeykll and Mr. Hyde" in a cache log today, and since then I've been waiting for the opportunity to call Hydee "Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hydee," but Hydee hasn't committed any foibles which allowed me the opportunity to do so. Anyone else have any Halloween-esque perversions of other people's geocaching names? Pan Outside of dogs, reading is man's best friend. Inside of dogs... it's too dark to read. - Unknown

  20. I beleive it started with that middle bottom one. That's Jeremy's "I'm Working On It" photo. THe others spawned from there. And when I say spawned, I mean spawned from the very pits of hell. Deep dark places that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. Places that children wake up screaming about after seeing them in their dreams.
  21. I can't top BrianSnat's story (which I'm STILL laughing at by the by) but I did have this encounter with a Geomuggle once. To set the scene, I was caching in Brookline, Mass. There is a resevoir right next to a major roadway. There is a walking/bike path that goes around the resevoir, and there is a grassy hill between the bike path and the road. So, I was walking up from the bike path to search the grassy hill for the cache. Ahead of me was the roadway (at the top of the hill). Pan Outside of dogs, reading is man's best friend. 22. BrianSnat, That's one of the best posts I've ever read. Whoo boy... still laughing at it. Thanks.
