  2. ok big problems ok with same problem was working fine cant get communicator to run I have downloaded it but when I hit the send to gps just keeps coming up plugin not recognized the only way I can put geocaches on the device is on the unit using wifi and the web from there which very tricky on a small screen

I have restored the gps to factory setting and is updated I'm using windows useless 10 im using internet explorer chrome firefox edge nothing works thanks

  3. Hi Shortfork. I don´t understand your last post. Could you be more descriptive on what the problem is and how you solved it? I understand that the caches were on the map but not in the geocaching app? I put my pocket queries in the GPX-folder and when the device starts it just puts them on the map and in the geocaching app.

hi arogen sorry for late reply my issues was i im the uk using geocaching.com planned holiday in germany nurburg area i downloaded the caches but the were not appearing in the geocaching folder but when i got nurburg the were in the folder but i should have used filters to find the caches ie search by city.

so all is well i just getting used to it really certainly needs updates but it will come hopefully the only gripe i have is that photos cannot be shown from cache pages they may lead more help in with hint

  4. im well happy with i have had the issuses but happy with batt life my best is six hours plus i carry a spare plus i got the car mount now so it can be charged on the way compass ok now, spinning issue sorted, the only issue i have is saving the foreign caches in the geocaching folder on device the are on the map but shown on folder strange thats using geocaching.com and translating the cache page to english anyone know a way round this i went to germany the caches were on the map but not in the folder.

    i have no other issues

  5.

Hi people for some reason i can not download gpx files from geocaching.com anymore before latest update and after as well i have deleted all the gpx files thinking it might be overloaded.

funny but goecaching.com says the caches are saved to the monterra but i cannot see them. so i updated the latest communicator plug in still no luck.

i have notice that my pc does give me the option to remove hardware like the oregon so im confused and do not know whether issue with monterra or pc not recognizing the monterra even though geocaching.com does see it thx

  6. Not sure where to post this, but have all of the major issues affecting the Monterra been resolved yet? When the Monterra was launched, everyone was saying the unit should be avoided due to the number of major software bugs. It's been more than half a year since the Monterra have been launched so I'm curious if this is finally worth purchasing yet?

    Thanks!

    Take a look here:

    Monterra Wiki Common Issues

I do not believe all of those "bugs" have been validated with Monterra v2.90_1.20.00. Which is the latest update since many of them are no longer present on my Monterra.

How do you find the Monterra with the latest firmware?

its better for sure but not perfect i had issues with gallery as well

  7. So now that the compass problem is fixed, how is the Monterra's functionality? any other bugs/crashes? how are you guys finding the battery life?

i went out caching for the day with the backlight on all time but lowest possible setting and i got 4 and half hours with 16% left so i reckon five hours tops 30 caches found but always carry spare batteries would be nice to share geocaches between devices my oregon 400t plus have the geocache total of the dashboard im still getting used to it not used for auto mode im wondering if gb discover sd card map is ok for routing with it on the whole i pretty happy compass issue is ok i had no probs one issues is you cannot see on the cahche desciption the photos from geocaching dot.com cheers

That's good to hear you didn't have any issues and the battery made it that long. I remember trying to hike and navigate with the Monterra when I had it. It's very big compared to the 62s. I also didn't have a d-link attached to it so it was like holding one of the original cell phones with no place to put it. Obviously too big for pockets. Have they launched any D-link attachments for the Monterra? Had anyone used any aftermarket components for such or have thoughts on how to carry this device when on a hike?

went out last week for a big series and it lasted six hours and that is absolute max im sure with screen backlight on 15 secs and sleep 30 secs and brightness low as poss so still the are few things like the geocache widget not changing just stays on the nearest one to you and as said before a geocache count

  8. The Monterra can use both sites. There is a countdown, but not in the small data fields (4 options shown when using the compass), only in the geocaching mode (as far as I can tell(). Don't know about time to destination though.

cheers done update and happy ish

  10.

Hi everyone, from reading on here there is a issue on the monterra about the unit not registering distance to destination and time to destination im amazed how this could have been sorted before sales of the unit do they not do product testing anything extra info would be greatfull on updatesand what other problems are there i bought this as a replacement for my Oregon 400t which has seen six years service.

another question i dont really want to use opencaching.com i want to use geocaching.com i assume this does not make any difference as i want to keep cahes done in order so to speak and be messing around from one to the other cheers fellow goecachers of the world from sunny kent UK
