  1. I would like to do a hike with every one some time. Unfortunately, next weekend I promised my paintball buddies I would go play with them. They have been complaining of late that I haven’t been playing much paintball with them. Can’t understand what else I could be doing with my time.
  2. If they are trackable there will be a web address on the coin some where. There are a few out there that are trackable. Ours are trackable through Travelertags.com and they also make some of there own wooden nickels there that are trackable. Even though ours are trackable we don’t care if they get put out in to another cache our not just wanted to see if any of them did how far they would go.
  3. Was down in San Diego, and a group of us were doing some night caches. We were doing The Proctor Valley Monster Project which can only be done at night. The theme is spooky items so I pulled out my wooden nickel #13 since it was the only thing remotely spook that I had. After stumbling around and finding the cache I reached in to my pocket to pull out the nickel and it wasn't in my pocket any more. There was one more cache in the area so we decided to hit that one also. On the way back the person that was leading the pack took us through some heavy brush, and once we got back one of the group found they didn't have there cell phone. Walking back to the area we came through and calling the number on one of the other cell phones we had, we found it.
  4. Planning that one any time soon?
  5. I found a TB once that wanted to go to a paticular cache. When I got there it was a micro and no way would it of fit in it. I dropped it off at the next cache I came to and when I got home logged it in and out of the micro and then in to the cache I dropped it in to. The owner of the TB was very happy at my doing this.
  6. I don't mind getting a little wet as long as I don't get cold. I usually wear a set of Poly long johns and a set of poly socks. If it starts raining to much then one of the cheap ponchos, will keep me dry enough and also works to keep the water off my day pack also.
  7. Not the pure silver one, I have one but it's for my collection also. I left one of the silver plated ones. The one I dropped off I was going to save for my personal collection until I talked Rose in to letting me buy one of the pure silver ones. I edited the log just to make sure there is no confusion.
  8. Picked the one up at Maple Pass today, was a little worried hiking up there when I saw several sets of foot prints in the snow. Passed two groups but there was one set still ahead of me. I got to the cache and sure enough it was still in there. I feel like I’m part of the club now, when do I get to learn the secret hand shake. Thanks Nolenator for giving me a chance to pick one of these up in a cache. Ray
  9. My original plans changed some after I saw I had a chance to pick up a Moun10bike coin. Swung by to pick up Goofster once I had completed that hike, I really still wanted to do Hills of Morning, but by this time it was 4:00 O’clock. My little voice inside didn’t even warn my on this one all it said was yea will be only chance until next year. Ended up getting a DNF as it got late and the snow prevented me from finding it.
  10. Will try to stop and get it tommorow.
  11. We finally got out nickels in and here they are.
  12. I could probably swing by and grab it next weekend if it hasn't been picked up by then. I need to go and make sure my cache at Texas Pond is ready for winter. I also would like to get Hills of Morning before winter sets in.
  13. I don't know if this will help or not but might be worth a try. It all depends on if the difficulty was rated correctly or not. Try making your settings traditional caches and then set the difficulty to one or less or even maybe two or less. It just might help weed out the ones that require the extra steps. One of the things I do is go through with GSAK and look through the caches and then delete the ones I don't want to do before I down load to the GPSr.
  14. I just introduced three new people to Geocaching. The first a regular traditional cache I found, the second one was a mean micro which after 15 minutes of looking I finally found, after that they were off and running I didn't get a chance to be the one to find the cache for the rest of the day.
  15. It started out as some thing we could do together. I had an older etrex that I had bought to carry in my survival vest. After the first couple of days we decided that we needed a new GPSr but couldn't just buy one Rose needed one also. We haven't gone any were since with out looking to see how many Geocaches are in the area. Right now I'm down in San Diego and have introduced three new people to Geocaching and one has all ready bought a GPS. It seems like we need to get some thing new about every couple of weeks, first it was some Travel Bugs, a while later some U.S. Geocoins, then some decent trade items, finally our own custom wooden nickels that we we're able to log on Travelertags.com. Just when we thought we were all set, they decided to make a Washington State Geocoin that we just had to have.
  16. One of the things I've seen go over big is the Lance Armstrong wrist bands. I put them in my cache and have put a few out in caches I've found they usually don't last long in the cache and only cost a buck apiece. I also got a box of small flash lights off Ebay and they also seem to get grabbed up quickly and were about 50 cents a piece. I've also left ponchos and flag pins some times they get picked up by the next person some times not.
  17. Bugel and I had a similar email conversation, geocaching is not always just about the cache. It's also about the community.
  18. Tried it at first but was a little over whelmed with it. Used easy GPS for about a month then went back to it. Tried it out for a couple of days then send in my 15 bucks. Great program!
  19. There is risk with every thing, the way I look at it, is that there is a much less risk by having just one company having my credit card number than having to give it out multiple times.
  20. That may or may not be the reason. I picked one up the other day that had not been logged, the log in the cache said they couldn't figure out how to log it. If you read some of the other forums some people have had problems figuring out how to log them. They work like regular Travel Bugs but the number on the tag is different so it throws some people off when they try and log them. My best suggestion if you want to find one you need to get out and do a lot of caches, we still see a few here but now they usually show up in out of the way places.
  21. I prefer the country caches, but will do urban ones as long as they are in a park. I stopped doing actual urban ones when a couple of cops pulled up to find out what I was doing look in the bushes behind the local REI.
  22. The wooden nickles that I've seen with the stickers didn't hold up very well. With the moister that is in most caches the stickers just come right off. The stamps sounds like a good idea but I only paid $86.00 (with shipping) for 250 wooden nickles so thought the price wasn't bad.
  23. We should be getting ours any day now unless you get a rush order takes 15 days to make and 5 days shipping. We got them from Wooden-nickel
  24. Out of our eleven, four we still have, one is coming up on two months it is in some ones hands that appears to only cache every few months (so I still have hope) it was our first one released. All the others have had activity this month.
