  1. Here's a few of mine cut n pasted from the other page. I think I have a few more somewhere... In my mind this guy's name was Dewey but everyone just called him Dew. He was listed in the phone book as Mountain Dew. Overgrown cemetery in western Wisconsin. Lonely tire swing.
  2. Another thing I really enjoy about cemetery caches is doing them while traveling because you are pretty much assured that the grass will be short and the place will be empty and it won't be terribly difficult. Pretty much.

  4. A brand new "Legends of Wrestling" (or something similarly titled) video game for a PS3. I don't have a PS3 and I didn't have anything equal to trade so I left it for the next lucky finder.
  5. As the proud owner of 2 cemetery caches and the proud finder of a hundred or so I can honestly say that I very much enjoy finding them. I've always enjoyed wandering through old cemeteries looking at the old markers and reading the inscriptions and speaking names that might not have been said in 100 years. And in all the time I've spent finding caches in them I've only run into another person maybe 2 or 3 times.
  6. I live right on the border of MN and WI so it is not surprising that nearly all of my finds are there. Total finds: 1645 Minnesota - 824 - 50.1% Wisconsin - 787 - 47.8% Colorado - 23 - 1.4% Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Iowa and Michigan - 10 - .7%
  7. I was out the other day searching for a LARGE. It ended up being what I can only guess what used to be a metal container that used to used to hold soda syrup before it was mixed with carbonated water at a soda fountain. It had a good metal lid with a thick rubber gasket. Plenty of room inside for trade items. Pretty neat. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me.
  8. Mine went a little something like this: Looking back on it I'm not mortified like I thought I might be. I've re-read some of my early logs and some of them could have been written better. Funny story about our first cache: Knowschad DNF'd it twice! And we walked right up to it for the quick find.
  9. A nano in a dense woods where the canopy makes getting a decent signal on your GPSr almost impossible. With the hint of "tree" Then fudge the coords a little and hide it under a rock.
  10. What kind of GPS receiver do you use? There is probably a Wikispaces page that will help answer your question. That's how I figured out my GPSr. Very helpful info over there.

  12. Twice the distance from the center to either end. DUH!!!
  13. Well I've found one of them. Guess I got some work to do.
  14. So did they ask you for a hint after posting a DNF or two...or 5? I know a lot of CO's won't offer you a hint until you've posted at least one DNF. Did you offer a hint? If the answers are yes and yes then I really don't understand why they'd be so upset.
  15. Dang. You passed a really cool cache at an officer memorial on your way back up to the Twin Cities. Officers Scenic Cache How about this one: Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial Park. It's only a micro but you could dip the TB in and then place it in another cache later. Just a thought...
  16. FTF an official stat? No thanks. Just too many headaches. And I'm an FTF hound. FWIW I had an awesome FTF experience last night. I arrived at GZ and met up with a fellow cacher that I have not seen in a few months. Then stuck around GZ and another local showed up and I finally got to meet him for the first time. Then ANOTHER cacher I've been out with dozens of times showed up. And if we'd stuck around 10 more minutes we'd have seen 2 more cachers that I've bumped into a couple of times. Awesome experinces...THAT should be an official stat!
  17. There are a few of them about 10 miles from my house. I've not had the chance to do them but I have some buddies who have just raved about them. One actually called me up while doing the cache and told me that I had to do it at my next available evening. Might have to get out there this weekend...
  18. Me too! And check out the CO on that one. Where have I seen that name before. Hmmmm...
  19. There is some very useful information to be had there. The problem (at least for me...at first) was that I had no clue how puzzle caches worked or what to be looking for so the info might has well have been written in Chinese. But after tackling some easier puzzles the fog began to lift. I still suck but I'm getting better. Also, Google is your friend.
  20. I'm really bad at some puzzles because my brain is not wired to think laterally. I can do math and I can do (some) word puzzles but when you mix the two my mind usually can't bridge the gap. That being said when I come across a puzzle I check it out and spend a few minutes on it. If nothing pops out at me I move along to the next one. Then I'll come back to it again a while later. Sometimes it helps me to forget what my thoughts were as they were probably wrong to begin with.
  21. I've had my Garmin Colorado 300 for the entire 2 year span I've been caching and I still LOVE it. That this is a workhorse and I have no plans to get rid of it. HOWEVER...should it meet its demise I will probably upgrade to a Garmin Oregon 450t or 550t. I've had the chance to test out a 450t for an afternoon and that thing is SWEEEEEET.
  22. In my experience this year has not been as bad as last year. It's probably due to the fact that it's been so darn cold this spring. I know last year I was getting COVERED with ticks back in April but not nearly as much this year. My personal record was about 50 ticks after caching in some hunting land early last spring. I kind of forgot the insect repellent at home that day.
  23. I know, right? One time I had to wait THREE WHOLE MINUTES from the time I submitted the cache to the time it was published. Ugh...so frustrating.
  24. I just archived a cache of mine as someone found it filled with urine. I don't want people finding my caches in poor condition and I figured the spot was compromised for good. With all the awful logs being posted maybe you should post an NA log. The CO has checked in within the past month but doesn't seem to care that his cache was used as a latrine.
