  1. Not from a geocaching adventure, but this sign has always been a favourite.
  2. I have some Canadian Geocoins that are not registered yet. When I place the cache that I have been working on, one of those coins will be the ftf prize. I have instructions to reach me to have the ownership of the coin transferred. The ftfer would then have the choice as to whether they circulate, or save the coin.
  3. Although the SD expansion cardsin the new Magellan Explorist series look like a great thing, I am not sure I like the idea of an internal Li battery pack. Sounds to me like you can't just pop the batteries out and put fresh ones in on a long day of caching. I am kinda hoping that Garmin will add the SD card option to some of their models soon, so better comparisons can be made.
  4. I am definitely in for the 30th. I know there are ideas about parks already in the discussion phase, but I would like to suggest that maybe if we are planning a cito we might consider a provincial park. It would be a positive aspect of geocaching introduced to the park staff, and we can use as many positive provincial park encounters as we can get.
  5. Just speculation, but I imagine he kept it for himself, to commemorate his 100th find personally
  6. I might be missing something here, but I don't think any of the advice about some caches being suitable places to leave a blade of any sort can be seen as good advice. Regardless of whether common sense says that children should be supervised, or a cache at the top of a mountain would be ok, etc, the powers that be have stated that knives of any kind are banned from geocaching, and you should respect that, and not place a knife in a cache at any time. Remember, common sense isn't really that common after all.
  7. Oh, and to add one thing... If you are a regular visitor to Ontario parks, you can always purchase an annual or seasonal pass that will get you into all of them (including Wasaga). I know we can't geocache there (yet) but I still enjoy the parks and the $70 a year for a pass seems like a small price for the number of summer visits.
  8. I've come back from the dead, or at least really sleepy... I am excited to see that there are events coming to the Barrie area. I have been stuck indoors for far too long being ill. Count me in for both the April 2, and 14th dates. Glad to be back
  9. There are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary, and those that don't.
  10. armysurplus.com has 50cal cans for 4.99 as well.
  11. I'd wait a bit, honestly. Magellan has a few models with expandable memory, Garmin has but one (IQue). In the near future, I imagine you will see a new generation that all have SD memory slots, and you'll be able to get expandable memory with a compas.
  12. Might want to take into account that this is an annual trip for you, and as such, might pose a problem for cache maintenance.
  13. You forgot "Liberated"
  14. Congrats! and welcome to the club. I have only been around a couple of months, but I find it to be a great way to get out. I know exactly what you mean about first find excitement, I didn't come down for a few hours after I found mine. Keep up the good work.
  15. When I booked my cabin, they told me they would like to know a week in advance how many meals. Hope that helps.
  16. I am booked in too. Looking forward to meeting some of the Ontario cachers.
  17. Wonder if it's possible to get this list of caches done as a pocket query? Or, is there another way to group the 44 as a single gpx file to run through gpx spinner?
  18. I am also here in Barrie, and reletively new to geocaching. I am going to do a little planning, and see if I can't arrange to come along for the trek. Sounds like a blast. If I can make it, you are welcome to ride with me Niss. *edit* I will be going, and my uncle will come as well. Send me an email Niss, and I will arrange for transport.
  19. I am wondering if it would be possible to allow us to view the page for a cache in a browser, without the logs underneath, and with/without hints. I have a PDA that will display html files, but with limited storage, I wonder if it's possible to have a function that allows me to see the cache page with only the cache info? If this is available, and I have not been able to find it, please help me. If this has been asked for, and I was unable to find the preveious request, I appologize. Thanks, DelMarNorth P.S. Thanks for the site, it's been a wonderful addition to my lifestyle
