  1. Are GeoJellies good or bad for my blood sugar? Anyway, I'll jump in the fray as well...
  2. Wow! That is a shame. I hope it turns up.
  3. I can support this ... If people here would only use simple maths and physics plus some basic assumptions they would see that this "record" is nearly impossible. My rough calculations pointed out that they had less than 90 seconds from jumping out of their car and finding+opening any of these caches under very optimal circumstances. The rest of the time in my calculation is used for short logging (date + name), hiding the cache again, driving from cache to cache respecting speed limits and jumping back into the car. All this calculation was made according to the assumption that the average distance from cache to cache is less than 200m (650 ft) (as I already said ... veeeeery optimal circumstances). 90seconds average find time ... well that's only possible (if at all) with D1/T1 drive-in caches If they really made it ... R.E.S.P.E.C.T. A very sceptical idl0r Have you guys not seen this trail? The caches are only like 200 ft apart. From what I understand, they are all hidden exactly the same at the base of powerline towers. There is absolutely no hunt involved. So yes, I doubt that even 30 seconds was spent "hunting" each cache. And they use stickers instead of signing the logs. I don't see the point myself, since there is no actual hunt involved, but yeah, I think it's possible. 200' apart? If true, then the whole thing is bogus. Everyone can end that 200' line of chatter right now. There was not one cache on Totg that I noted that was not within or far exceeding the distance guidelines. Many if not most were closer to .18 miles apart than .10 miles apart. None of these were only 200' apart.
  4. I think after 200+ caches I think my post would be "Hold on.... I gotta catch my breath...." and then something about my feet hurting. Luckily I had just bought a new pair of Merrell’s just before going on this cache dash. Still, the feet were pretty worn out after all the caching I did. Actually, the entire me was worn out.
  5. Thanks, buttaskotch, for tossing that site my way. I did not know it existed. I'm sure many would find that site a great help. You are right that in this case, with the way I kept track of my caches, I would not be able to take advantage of it, but what a cool script.
  6. Lord I hope not.Take the time to give each cache owner a bit of pay back. While I will only give a cache the amount of logging effort it deserves I will log each one individually. The CO deserves that much just for taking the time to hide a cache. Agreed, to a point. In the circumstance I am referring to, multiples of these caches were set out by the same CO, who I know. I have given them direct feedback verbally. My log will have enough information that anyone reading the log will get some information, but for many of these, the information and experience would be essentially redundant. Not all of them, but many of them. Just trying to ensure that there is no way to speed up that process before I plunge in. For the other caches that I did, the logs will all be individual. And, if the cache was plain jane and nothing happened there, the log there will not include any embellishment.
  7. If you're going to cut and paste anyway why not just go into each listing??? If there was a program like that (and I think there must be somewhere) you would be hitting the site too much too fast and they will block you for a bit. I'm a great believer in 'You found 'em, you log 'em' This is the trouble with power caching. If I did it (I won't, but I know a few that have done) I would log every find individually. But then again I use field notes so it's a bit easier. I probably am going to have to go into each listing. Just wanting to make sure I'm not finding out after the fact there is a more efficient way to log under this specific circumstance. Better to know now and spend 8 hours logging, than find out after 20 hours of logging. I take great pride in my individual logs. That said, if the placement was boring, the container was boring, and the events that happened there were uninspired, I will to a basic generic log on occasion. Every cache has merit, just not every cache requires a book be written (IMO).
  8. Agreed on the writing of something specific. Many of the caches that I did on my recent trip I will be writing very specific logs about and posting pictures. There are some stretches, however, where the cache placement and containers were not deserving of specific logs, unless something specific happened there. Like the one where a jeep almost rolled down a cliff face... With the ones I am looking to automate, I have spoken to the cache planters (yes, multiple) and know that they don't really wade so much into the logs written because of the enormity of the number of logs they get. I was also hoping to go back through after the fact and even edit some of those I am talking about. I did take quite a few notes of things that happened. Just some of these aren't ever going to get more than a generic note even if I do every one by hand and when you are looking at 1000 logs and still have a life...
  9. Yes, indeed. Yes, indeed. Time to pay the fiddler, and the piper, and the taxman…
  10. Is there a program that allows one to bring in a PQ, and then automatically log multiple geocache finds onto the website? I am not a fan of cut-and-paste, but I just had my first 200+ find day and it is simply appropriate in this situation. Before I trudge into this the only way I know how, I thought I should check and make sure there is no easier way to upload multiple find logs at once. Thanks.
  11. Thanks, Toojin. That information may come in handy.
  12. Aw nuts. I had to go and edit it to get the roman numerals right. Xs Is and Vs can be almost as difficult as figuring out the difference between Bs adn 8s on the geocoins.
  13. Why would anyone place a cache on top of a lily pad… and then give it a terrain 1.5! Thanks for the diversion today, opalsns.
  14. Ok, I don't have a post yet, but, that picture is quite questionable. I'm going to have to think on this one and make sure whatever I post doesn't get me banned.
  15. That design is definitely a winner.
  16. Wow! That is what I get for making the purchase early. I already paid for shipping on those and a few other coins and pins. I would have gotten several more of hte monkeys if there hadn't been a limit, but oh well.
  17. I picked up two yesterday. I figured I was the last to know.
  18. I’ve been caching for 10 months and for the most part would have to say I have just become very mechanical in signing logs as if for credit. I have written several longer notes, but those have always been in caches where I noticed others had been filling up a page as they go. Then I have taken the time to write about my experience on the cache as well. When that has happened, I’ve thumbed through the pages to see what others have said. It added to the enjoyment of the cache for me. Rare occurrence, though.
  19. so...that makes them a sissy too, since they signed and left swag... Big-time sissies!
  20. I know I should be avoiding pill bottles after reading this thread... but for some reason I instead feel the need to put one out now. I think I'll try modifying a pill bottle a bit and if it goes bad (water, cracking, and the like) I'll just replace it with a matchstick container.
  21. The event looks great. If not for a conflict in the schedule, I'd join you for the whole weekend.
  22. Don't see too many curious porcupines on coins. They are at a fine price point.
