  1. Hey, TeamRufus. Just out of curiosity, what is your radius? Whole state? Pella to the SE or further? Iowa City to the east or Quad Cities?
  2. Time to release a trackable that wants to go see some ECs.
  3. Phenomenal example, Lostby7! You just had that one sitting in your hip pocket, huh? If you look at the pictures on that page the location across the way is outstanding and breathtaking. A buddy of mine is demanding to go on a trip to Rushmore. Based on the pictures, I may demand a side trip to this EC. What a great looking spot.

  5. A benchmark itself? No. Using a benchmark to help illustrate a larger learning lesson about the formation of landscapes or related phenomena? That might be a possible winner depending on the circumstances. Edited for punctuation.
  6. If I had laughed any harder, I would have cracked a rib.
  7. I have called around, but it appears that no local agency offers this kind of service in Kansas City. If anyone knows otherwise, please post.
  8. I'm not going to be there, but the coin design is so great it makes me want to jump on them (the coins that is, not the spit).
  9. thank you! That will work, but isn't the "note" on the cache a nuisance? Or maybe I should just delete the note after? (You like turtles? Honu is the hawaiian word for turtle ) I would delete the "coin drop" note after posting it. Then the only nuisance is for the cache owner who will receive an email from your post. I suppose different cache owners might see things differently, but as an owner I do not consider it a nuisance if you want to drop a coin or coins in my caches on occasion.
  10. That is certainly quite the challenge.
  11. I remember these inserts. I never would have thought about making a coin out of one. Interesting idea.
  12. I regret to inform anyone who was interested in this coin that the collection was stolen from our rental car while Webscouter and I were on the trail to claim the Project APE cache. Our vehicle was one of two that were broken into and every one of this coin, along with my entire personal collection, my passport, Webscouter.'s USB GPS, his power inverter, and multiple cables and splitters were all stolen. A combined value of around $1000 dollars, about $700 of which were geocoins. By the way, we could use any assistance out there. If anyone happens to see these coins pop up on eBay anytime soon, especially in a larger quantity, please contact the King's County Sheriff's office at (206)296-4155 with information regarding the account trying to sell them and whatever ID number is associated with that particular sale, alongside contacting me. Sorry to anyone hoping to purchase this coin but thought I would post an update. I also have a complete list of coin codes, so this afternoon I will be retrieving all the coin codes, activating them, and leaving a 'nice note' on all of them. If they were to be found and to get into my or Trip's hands, I'll either use them myself or adopt them out. That is just so jacked up, man. I’m sorry to hear about your loss. That is a shame. I’ll try to keep my eyes peeled for any activity.
  13. I agree with BulldogBlitz… it will be a mixed bag. If you replace a full log strip in one of my nanos, you will get a “thank you very much” email. Of course, I don’t have any nanos… but, if I did.
  14. There is no could, only will. Saying geocoining could get addicting is like saying I'm jumping in the deep end of the pool now and I could get wet.
  15. Uggg! Why do I sleep at night? The pain of missing out on such an opportunity is not worth it.
  16. A good place to get an overview is on this pinned topic - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=116641 Thank you. I hope that gives you what you need.

  18. Are these people also complaining because the McToys in the cache they visited have frayed fur? Let them buy you the coin and send it out under your profile. Unless they are willing to pony up the $15, don’t worry about their whining. Of course, keep in mind, a note saying they would have liked to seen the real coin is to be expected. Is that complaining, flattery, or just the truth? They may be intending their comment as a compliment to your coin collection. I also think we would all agree that we would rather touch metal than paper when moving coins along. Unless someone is being deliberately sharp, I would assume they really are just stating the obvious and possibly being polite. I agree with RifleMan81 though. Add Proxy to the end of the coin name or in parenthesis at the end of the coin name. That will give folks a heads up that the coin is a proxy. It will also help cachers know the coin has not been stolen and replaced in the field without your knowledge.

    Oh Oh!

Just retrieve the coin back out of the cache. No harm, no foul.
  20. That would be cool. I can't think of any way to make that happen with confidence, though.
  21. I'd drop the cache owner a quick email.
