  1. This is still an issue for me. I wonder if this is related to my account or this particular cache, or just random? Would anybody else like to try updating the coords for this cache (https://coord.info/GC19XQB) and seeing whether it disappears from the map on the iPhone App’s map? ?
  2. Is there anything ‘unusual’ about the username (e.g. non-alphanumeric characters)?
  3. A thumbs up for this, and thanks to @MKGeesfor their support in getting it to work for me.
  4. They also said: Discovering the Trackable: It may take several days, even weeks, for SHERLOC and WATSON to take the photo and send it back to Earth. Who exactly are you mad with? Geocaching HQ for their optimistic ‘second half of February’ prediction, or NASA for dragging their heels? Or do you just want to log your discovery and get your souvenir regardless of what happens on the surface of Mars?
  5. The whole point of this trackable is to see an image beamed back from the surface of Mars - something that just might be outside of Geocaching HQ’s control. Who’s getting mad? And why?
  6. Yeh, right! Geocaching HQ need to get on to NASA and tell them to pull their finger out! Don’t NASA know that some Geocachers pay good money to play this game?! </sarcasm>
  7. Alternatively create a ‘placeholder’ cache page, and submit it. Make it clear that you’re not ready for the cache to be published, and lay out your plans. If you already know (roughly) where the cache will be hidden, you can also ask the reviewer to do a ‘proximity check’ which will reserve the spot (assuming there are no issues).
  8. I’ll confess, I was intrigued by the initial announcement and found the code back in July, but I’m not in the slightest bit interested in logging yet. I don’t think I’ve ever logged a trackable without having had it my hands (or within reach), and if I were to log it now, it would mean nothing. The big deal here is that we’re waiting for a photo to be beamed back from Mars. That’s really something! It may still only be a virtual discovery, but it’s a pretty special one. I will make an exception to my rule once I’ve seen that photo. Patience is a virtual! ?
  9. Sounds fun, but honestly not sure whether it would be permitted. As you say it doesn’t seem to be an ALR - it is the logging requirement not an additional one; maybe comparable to opening a puzzle box to get to the logbook. But I’m not convinced that it would count as a ‘physical logbook’. Maybe worth running the idea by your local reviewer...
  10. I’m fairly sure that’s not what they meant! I’d assume the offer was made after going out and failing to find a cache that turned out to be missing. I logged one like this in Spain. Failed to find an interesting multi and logged a DNF. The CO attended our ‘meet the tourists’ event later that day. En route, she’d checked on the cache, replaced it, and even put our names in the new logbook. Would have felt awkward to say ‘thanks but no thanks’, so I logged the find. Edit: Never done a streak worth the name, but I’d like to think I’d resist the temptation to log a find like this just to keep one going.
  11. Your corrected coordinates are still shown on the cache page, but (sadly) not on the map. There have been a number of requests to change the mapping behaviour. (The obvious solution would be to allow the user to toggle between posted and corrected coords.) I use GSAK ... the answer is always GSAK! ?
  12. Really surprised this isn’t included. The web site shows All Logs | Your Logs | Your Friends’ Logs. I’d have expected the App to show the same. Being able to see my own logs, particularly on my own caches (OMs, etc.), would be really useful.
  13. GSAK allows you to log finds on archived caches. Deleted caches? I’d think not.
  14. Apologies. I figured that if you didn’t have a device to do Wherigos you’d just ignore them regardless of what was on the cache page; I thought you must have interpreted the OP’s post differently.
  15. Sure...go ahead...it'll be fine. ? Assuming (1) the cache hasn’t already been archived, (2) you’re not planning on moving it across the country, (3) you feel the experience hasn’t really changed (in other words cachers who have already found it will get nothing other than an extra smiley for doing it again), then this doesn’t seem unreasonable. Best to check with your reviewer though.
  16. Here’s that discussion: https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/359369-why-do-all-bonus-caches-have-to-be-mystery-caches/
  17. I don’t think the OP was suggesting a Wherigo masquerading as a Mystery. If they were, then not sure that’s a great idea. (Nor whether it would be going against the guidelines.) Agree, this could be an issue. There was a discussion here not that long ago about having a Letterbox Hybrid as a bonus. This seemed completely reasonable to me, but apparently goes against the guideline: “A bonus cache is a Mystery Cache ...”. Definitely worth checking with your Reviewer. One way around this would be to remove the dependency on what’s *in* the other caches, instead using information found *at* the other cache locations. In other words the locations of the other caches would also be virtual waypoints for your Wherigo, and the information would be used to find the start point for the cartridge. (Consequently, cachers would be able to complete the Wherigo without necessarily finding all of the other caches. Some might say that’s a good thing?)
  18. No caches are being published in England during the current national lockdown. https://wiki.Groundspeak.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=47711936
  19. The official app restricts a basic member to ‘easier’ caches - Trads with lower D/T ratings and Events. The others are shown on the App but greyed-out. The website does not have this restriction. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=102&pgid=764 Edit: Just reread your post... I see (1) you’re a premium member and (2) you’re seeing MORE on the app. In which case no idea ... unless you’re logged in on the laptop to a different account?
  20. I believe that this would be flagged to the reviewers. A good way to get on the 'naughty list'. ;-)
