  1. A result that seems strange to me... I selected 'All Geocache Finds' for a friend's account, and the results correctly showed their 500+ cache finds. I then clicked on 'Filters' and 'FOUND STATUS: Found' to see which of those caches I'd found too. Instead of getting a subset of their caches, the results showed a superset of the caches that at least one of us had found. Not at all useful, but is this working as designed or a bug?
  2. I’m irked by people who don’t listen when I tell them how the game should be played. ?
  3. Most of what’s been said above, plus the overall experience - good company, a good laugh, a happy memory - all quite possibly unrelated to the cache itself.
  4. My eTrex Legend HCx has all of this. ?‍♂️ I haven’t actually used my old eTrex for Geocaching for years - I load it up as a backup before going on holiday, and still use it for navigation and as a ‘trip computer’ on my bike - but my memory is playing tricks on me. ☹️ It does have a USB Storage Mode (I load it from GSAK); it can distinguish between cache types (though that might be thanks to GSAK settings); but you’re right, not exactly paperless caching! I think that’s a bit harsh, but I agree with the sentiment. ?
  5. The guidelines recommend that you only hide caches that you can maintain yourself, though reviewers can publish holiday caches, etc. provided there is a reasonable ‘maintenance plan’. This may be a local cacher (who has agreed to help you out) or simply your own local contact. Where exactly are you seeing this? In the cache description?
  6. To be fair, the same is true of any multi-stage cache on the system.
  7. Even without search functionality, for me, the MC is far preferable to email, but there’s always room for improvement...
  8. Most of my hides are puzzles, so most of my incoming communication is people looking for help. Having that single thread makes it much easier for me to decide on the level of assistance to provide, based on any previous conversations. I just scrolled through the MC and at a rough count I’ve had conversations with about 350 other cachers. And they’re all in one place. To add: as discussed elsewhere, some search functionality would be very useful. ?
  9. You can also check the qualifying caches of previous finders - see which COs they’ve used.
  10. Bump. The website allows you to update the coordinates of any cache. Can anyone explain why this cache type restriction is necessary on the official App? The same restriction does not apply to partner Apps (e.g. Cachly).
  11. Not sure of the email wording, but there is an option in the MC to ‘Forward messages to e-mail’. Do you have this set?
  12. > what exactly are you doing? I'm looking through a public record of somebody's finds. I'm not doing it stealthily - and surely that's the key word that turns 'taking an interest' into 'stalking'.
  13. I’ve often thought it would be useful to look through someone’s active caches, without having to page through their archived ones too.
  14. I think it would be a good idea to show two columns (active / archived), or maybe an active number in brackets after the total. Useful information.
  15. Thanks to @mustakorppi for explaining this behaviour on another thread. To elaborate here... When searching for caches on the map, the App selects the N caches (that meet all of the filter conditions) with posted coords closest to the centre of the map. As it draws the map, the corrected coords (where added) are used in preference to the posted coords when placing the pin. My problem Mystery cache was set when the 2 mile rule was more of a guideline. The cache is hidden almost six miles from the posted coords. When searching for caches in the area of the final, the cache is not shown on the map because its posted coords put it outside of the top-N closest caches. By changing the filters, the radius of caches meeting the search criteria increases, and hey presto! the pin appears where expected. Conversely, a search for caches close to the posted coords, will include the far-flung mystery, and show it as an outlier on the map. For most Mystery caches, the two mile rule prevents this from being a problem. For Multis, that can be any distance from their posted coords, this is more of an issue. Any chance of a fix? ?
  16. Yep, that explains my Mystery cache issue. Can’t believe this didn’t occur to me. Thank you. The cache in question was one where you had to recognise a location from an aerial image - that turned out to be almost six miles from the posted coords. Set when the 2 mile rule was more of a guideline. ?
  17. Ok, that is a pain. For me, I’ve just found this single mystery that’s misbehaving, though of course there could be more. But it’s certainly not all. Strange...
  18. No filters, but like you, I found that setting certain filters got it to appear. Is this happening to you for all multis, or just the one shown (GC87VTZ)? I corrected its coords but had no issues with its display. Sorry!
  19. Is it showing up in its original location? I have one mystery cache (and who knows how many more?) that doesn’t show up at either location.
  20. A CO can move their own cache up to a tenth of a mile, and even further with the help of a reviewer. The question is should you? If the experience is essentially unchanged, e.g. moving a cache from the base of one tree to another 10 m away, then no one would bat an eye. Similarly, a clever gadget cache placed in an ‘insignificant’ location could probably be moved further without upsetting anyone. The experience here is all about the container; it doesn’t matter much which side of the field it’s been placed. Moving a cache from the base of a tree into its branches, however, changes the experience completely. Even moving a tree climb from one tree to another, could be a significant change. Loads of grey in between... Good luck. ?
  21. Ah, sorry. I was getting the AddTrackablesAPI macro confused with another... TrackableOwnedAPI does gets all logs for a trackable ... but only for trackables you own. No good for you, I'm afraid.
  22. Ok. I think we're just using mapped differently. I've only run this PQ like a handful of times. And then I click on view results from the email link, and map, and see them all on the geocaching map. Good tip. Like HHL, I’ve only really used the My Finds PQ to load data into other tools. Not sure I’ve ever clicked the links in the email before, but yep, View results > Map this Location. ?
