[You know you're a Geocacher when...]

You know you are a Geocacher when the only reason you go shopping with your parents anymore (if you are under legal driving age) is because "there's a cache near there".

[Does elevation matter at all?]

So I just put a whole bunch of coordinates into my new GPS. All of them had an option for elevation, but I didn't know the elevation for any of them, so I just left it as is. Now, will this affect the accuracy of the coordinates at all, or will it not matter?

[Got my first GPS!]

I got my first GPS today. It's a Garmin eTrex H. I have been Geocaching just by putting coordinates into Google Earth and using that, but it's not so easy. So, hopefully this GPS will make it a little easier, and it will allow me to enjoy the game more!

 

I just tested it out by punching in some coordinates to a nearby intersection, and it brought me exactly where I wanted it to. Oh I'm so excited! I'm off from school on Monday, so my mom and I are going for a Geocaching trip, and I get to use the GPS! Woot, this should be fun.

 

So yeah, I'm sure no one cares, but I am personally really excited.

[Ouch, that hurt!]

I take my bike everywhere to geocache, so the worse accident I've ever had was when I was riding my bike to one of the caches. I was riding my bike on the sidewalk, and one of the lightposts were actually on the sidewalk. I thought I had enough room to get between it and a car on the other side of the sidewalk, so I tried to squeeze by. I didn't have enough room, and my handlebar smashed right into the post, flinging me into an awkward position. But I got up and ended up getting to the cache site, eventually finding it.
