  1. Your question does not accurately reflect my reality. I usually make a day of it and try to get as many as I can before sundown. Most caches are so far away that just getting one would be a waste of time. As for my personal preference on difficulty, I like low difficulty if the terrain is high. I don't mind a tough hike, but I want to find the thing once I'm there. Like I said, I'm usually a long way from home and don't want to have to return. rdw
  2. The best sign I have found is the USGS Geoname Server. This is the official source for named things everywhere in the US. For your specific example, enter "rainbow bridge" in the feature name field and "arch" in the feature type field. Gives the coordinates along with elevation, 7.5' map name, etc. Hope this works for you. rdw
  3. If you don't want it to be our business, then just pay through the Paypal link at the bottom of the page. I really don't see the problem with being identified as a Charter Member. I like the warm fuzzy. But I don't think any less of people who are identified as Geocachers. rdw

I'm not getting that on 4.79 under windoze, fonts are a little weird, but I can get used to that. Problem I'm having is the popups dont work. Kinda hard to fig out what some do without trying them, and they arent explained in the faq. Guess I gotta load up IE and see what they are. Oh, and now EVERYONES avatar dissapeared. WEIRDNESS! + _Illegitimus non carborundum!_ Check the "black on black" topic. Some people are having trouble with Opera on Solaris so J turned off the avatars. rdw

  6. Considering the generally high character of most of the people here, we shouldn't have to worry about ratings too much. They should all be high. rdw

  8. I've been wanting this since the day after I joined. About the time I realized I would be checking the site several time a day. rdw

  10. I've never used or even looked at OziExplorer, but have been using ExpertGPS for several months now. ExpertGPS: 1. Is seamlessly integrated with Geocaching.com The only time I manually enter coordinates is in the field while doing multicaches. I never have to worry about entering them incorrectly or a datum error. 2. Has numerous tools for working with waypoints, routes, and tracks. 3. Plots waypoints, routes, and tracks on topo maps and aerial photos at a great range of resolutions. 4. Supports most popular GPS models. 5. Offers free state waypoint files with purchase of the program (You can download 1 state for evaluation during the trial period.) It includes cities, townships, bodies of water, dams, and all kinds of other stuff. I like it alot and have never had a second thought about purchasing it. The website is http://www.expertgps.com If you haven't already, take a look at it. rdw
  11. Now there's a question you'll never get a fair answer to. Maybe the better question would be "Which do you use?" The best GPS is the one you have. rdw

Problem is, even after setting it to AM/PM, the actual threads still show times in 24h format for me. Other weird thing, my avatar went byebye. Just shows a broken link. I didnt change anything there, and everyone else's avatar displays fine. Maybe I'm just having a weird day. Your avatar looks fine on my end. I also changed my time preferences with any noticable results. rdw

I'm personally waiting to see the first report of someone putting an "inappropriate" image in for their avatar. rdw

  17. Up towards the top of the forum pages. This forum software certainly has more options and customizability than the old boards. However, power is directly proportional to complexity. rdw

Someone just needs to make a thorough list. rdw
