  1. I loved reading this article. How to hone your Geo-Senses "They say practice makes perfect, and this is especially true when it comes to geocaching. Have you ever been caching with someone and they already have the cache in hand while you’re still reading the description?" Yes. My husband! He has a natural geo-sense. We found 3 caches hiking recently and he honed in on all of them. lol A good read! https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/09/how-to-hone-your-geo-senses/?newsletter=PM?newsletter=PM
  2. Guess it's old news as I have never been notified. And I doubt anyone else has.
  3. Many items in our geobags are also to maintain our cache hides and restock swag. We check up on our hides each week. It's fun and good exercise since it takes miles of walking! Another plus to geocaching. Getting out in nature and exercising but most importantly, making other cachers who find them...happy!
  4. I think the most we have found was 6 in one day and we were thrilled! lol In my opinion, people who find 100 in a day are working in groups who separate and then log the groups finds. We do not do that.
  5. I don't think it's a feature. I lost a favorite and wasn't notified. I wasn't offended. I figure they found another worthy cache hide.
  6. It's the tone. She has used it before and I have brought up the dictatorship of her ways of owning a geocache. Geocaching for "power" and control is not in the guidelines. Like I said...relax.
  7. Am I missing something here? Do we not have to get permission to hide a cache? I always get permission although it can be a long process. .
  8. I'm glad people are not notified when a favorite point has been taken back. I know when a photo is deleted from a log, the geocache who logged the photo is notified. As for archived caches, I doubt very much the CO looks through their archived history to see if favorites are taken back lol I prefer, as I have mentioned, to give my favorite points to active caches. But if I am an owner of 100 favorite points for finding 5,000 + caches, then I will not even think of taking them back.
  9. Rules can be bend for honest mistakes. Loosen up. No one has yet to deny my log for not bringing a pen. And I do expect it, will expect it. I don't know where you live but we are more relaxed here. We help each other out. Sorry your area is more of a dictatorship when it comes to geocaching.
  10. Thank you for sharing! Love your super back up pen and first aid trackable! Super glue is a great idea to add to a geo-bag. We have a cache hide that requires being hot glued back into shape now and then. We'll bring it home and hot glue it but I like your super glue idea better.
  11. Didn't expect any less from an adventurous geocacher such as you! I recently received a battery pack as a gift from a family member for our cell phone's GPS. What a life safer, reduces anxiety when miles in the forest looking for caches and the cell battery is getting low. . .
  12. What is it with the pens and pencils? Iol I actually feel anxiety when not having some on me when geocaching! Have a bunch in my geo-bag and in my car.
  13. Thank you for answering, SamLowrey! Our geo-bag is getting so heavy that we leave it in the car too. I actually have another bag to carry on shorter trips. lol We do have an emergency whistle. Funny thing is, we keep it in the geo-bag in one of the smaller zippered compartments and forget it's there. The silica packs (collect them from our vitamin pill bottles) are to keep our cache hides fresh and less damp.
  14. I recently reorganized my geo-backpack. When did I collect so much? Always be prepared as the Girl Scout motto says. What's in your bag? Here's mine: Swag, lots of swag to trade. One of my favorites of geocaching. Extra logs Pencils and mini gel pens Tweezers Band-aids Scissors Hand sanitizer Cache containers to replace missing containers Rubber gloves and garbage bags to pick up trash Flash light Silica gel packets Gorilla duct tape Paper towels to clean out caches Bug spray (all natural) Recently was given by a family member a battery pack! We can geocache without worry of our cell battery running low. Been there many times. It was a bit stressful!
  15. Got this in email. Very interesting! I noticed more families have been geocaching together since Covid-19. More kids are finding caches and parents are proudly logging them on their accounts! Geocaching is a great family activity, gets kids outside hiking, enjoying nature. Geocaching for homeschoolers Looking for ways to keep your kids engaged in your back to school plans? Well, you’re in luck! Geocaching is a great way to give kids hands-on experience with science, technology, physical education, reading comprehension, and even fine motor skills. Here are some fun and unique ways you can get back to school geocaching style. Let’s get ready to make mistakes, get messy, and go geocaching!
  16. Did I mention that I now have 4 extra favorite points that I took back from archived caches? Yay! I'm saving them for children's homemade caches that parents proudly hide. Absolutely love those hides. Geocaching is so much better than Pokemon.
