  1. They are so cool! And what a great idea placing them in candy holders. We came across hand painted rocks with inspirational messages on them. Very nice.
  2. This is good to know when traveling. FTFs are fun and challenging especially when there are many in my area who are diehard FTF cachers!
  3. Didn't I say that??? Good for you. I'll still log it as a find if I forgot my handy pen and approved by the CO. Naw, thanks anyway, I'm fine and will keep doing what I'm doing but when someone is respectful in giving me some advice...I'll take it into consideration.
  4. We came across this in the same forest looking for a cache. I found it a bit creepy, lol, reminded me of the Blair Witch Project. Maybe it's just a work of art but the cache we were looking had a warning of King Philip..."at night you can feel the presence of his spirit rustling in the trees."
  5. Speaking of strange, a cacher friend sent me this photo of a very strange cache he found. The CO admitted to getting carried away with the duct tape. lol Scary!
  6. This isn't really a strange thing found when geocaching but one time caching in a forest which is also a park for picnicking, etc we came across a gazebo being decorated for an engagement proposal. You can see on the ground the rose pedals and some decorations inside the gazebo. We have been in this forest many times but never knew this was here! The cache is hidden nearby. But...we were asked to leave by the people setting up for the proposal. lol I told them we'll hide in the bushes so we can watch.
  7. Not at all. The CO called it a challenge cache. Did you try it on your computer? You also need a printer.
  8. Sure it does. And there's no spoiler because the photo isn't logged but sent to the owner for approval.
  9. Yes, that's what I said. I'll say it in another way for all to understand. If a pen was forgotten, take a photo of the cache, send it to the owner for approval of a find. If approval is given...then log it as a find. You can even write that the CO gave approval. And if you can...return with a pen or pencil and sign the log. In my case, the cache was out of State but the next time we were in that State, we climbed that dadgum hill and signed the log. Now that's geodedication. <patting myself on the back>
  10. I'm not talking of a photo log. I'm talking about messaging the CO a photo of her/his cache for proof and approval.
  11. This was a challenging cache for my husband and me. Very unique when you put everything together at home! https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3EQNZ_special-equipment
  12. Did you not see this? "Many around here have taken photos, sent it to the CO, who then gives permission to log it as a find."
  13. I think what I said a few times already was plain enough. The last comment didn't even have to be tacked on my me.
  14. Like I said...take a photo of the cache for proof of a find if you forgot a pen. The CO will likely honor it as a find. If they don't, come back with a pen. No big deal.
  15. That is so cool. We found a red stone rock that had a hole drilled into it and a capsule cache inserted inside. It was hidden under a bench but for some reason it kept getting tossed into a rock pile nearby. lol Probably by maintenance.
  16. Um, that's what I said. In my second post I clarified this.
  17. Ah, back to the guidelines. What did you just say to me about the guideline I posted earlier on hiding a cache? General guide, not a requirement? Same in this case. If I find a cache but forgot a pen...I'll take a photo for proof that I found it.
  18. Yes they can. Many around here have taken photos, sent it to the CO, who then gives permission to log it as a find.
  19. Cachers can also take a photo of the cache to prove it's a find.
  20. My favorite was in front of a geocacher's home. He built it himself. It had a few compartments you had to figure out and then once opened, figure out what to do with the balloons hidden in the compartment. It took a few popped balloons but finally we figured it out...place the balloon backward in the hole and blow air into it. The balloon expanded inside the wooden house and opened the front door where the log and swag were hidden! We almost gave up. Took about 20 minutes to figure it out. The owner was gracious enough to have a bench in front of the cache to rest while figuring it out. LOL
  21. A FTF prize I would love to find is a camo capsule. Or any capsule because I can always camo duct tape it. I like stocking up on them to replace the capsule hides of mine if they ever go missing.
