Ya got me- I missed the Kidding remark below the picture.

That would be very improper/disrespectful. How would you feel if it was the grave of one of your family members and you came upon someone poking around in it?

Recommendation for a Garmin 60CSX screen protector?
DustyWalker replied to Sgt_Strider's topic in GPS technology and devices
I second the invisible shield. I tried other products but wasn't as satisfied with their clarity. -
I am hoping to get an iPOD for Christmas and am wondering if anyone is using cachemagnet to go paperless? Is so, are you happy with it? Thanks.
-
I have had my TB's left in caches because the cacher said that he had nothing to trade for it or didn't want to take more than they felt they should. Some cache owners even go so far as make a rule that they want a even trade, which often makes the cache a prison. As an owner, I would rather someone take my TB and move it along. Keep in mind that the TB's belong to someone else, they are not the property of the cache owner. If you feel like taking them all, I say go for it. Keep them moving !

I can't speak for the 301, but I have a 201. (I believe they are similar except for the heart rate monitor) You can save and navigate to waypoints with it no problem. I have found several caches with it while I was out running and didn't want to carry my bigger CSx.

Is "lock on roads" turned on or off? I always leave mine turned off.

It sounds like the rubber bumper may be coming loose. It's quite common with the e-trex series.
-
Well that is just too cool. I frequently use my GPS to generate maps for court (hunting violations) and need to show a 400 m circle around a waypoint on the map. I didn't know Mapsource would do this. Thanks!

I think you might find that the CSx is more durable. The e-trex series have problems with the rubber bumper coming loose. Also, a friend of minebroke the joystick on his, although I never had problems with my old B&W Vista, which is similar.

We have one here in New Brunswick- Inspector Gadget: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...f7-6ec77abfdcbd

eTrex Vista HCx problems with rubber
DustyWalker replied to PhilatSea's topic in GPS technology and devices
This is a very common problem. The rubber came off my old Vista and my fathers Legend. Both were fixed by cleaning off all the old glue with alcohol, buffing the inside of the old rubber lightly with sandpaper, and glueing with Loctite Xtreme. I tried several glues prior to it but none seemed to want to stick to the rubber. I didn't want to use a glue that I couldn't get off again in case the unit needed to be repaired. -
Make track into thin line on Topo map?
DustyWalker replied to geopony99's topic in GPS technology and devices
If you change the track color to transparent you will have a thin black line rather than a wider colored line. -
I usually buy mine at CT as well. They also have camo spray paint (black, green and tan) that will do several containers. I like it better.

Paperless Caching - What do you use?
DustyWalker replied to Too Tall John's topic in GPS technology and devices
I simply use my CSx, with the hint in the notes section to use if I need it. What more is needed? -
Need help deciding, brand new to all of this
DustyWalker replied to BLIXX88's topic in GPS technology and devices
I have a CSx and am quite happy with it. If I had to replace it today it would be a toss up between another CSx and a Oregon. I have read too many bad things about the Colorado. -
Need accurate device/solution
DustyWalker replied to JohnyBeGood's topic in GPS technology and devices
The advice on the Trimble is right on the money. We use them at work for data collection. -
6th colorado lasted 2 days ...Garmin's making junk
DustyWalker replied to snomchfun's topic in GPS technology and devices
With all the problems others are having it looks like I will be sticking with my trusty CSx for the time being. -
I have used my 205 to find caches while out running but generally use my CSx to cache with.

I own several flashlights (too many!) I started out with maglites, graduated to Streamlights, (which are very nice lights but are often bulky) and now have a new favorite with my Surefire G2LED. It lasts twelve hours on a set of batteries and outperforms my other lights.

"Garmin Oregon Hanheld Touchscreen Navigator"
DustyWalker replied to Didjerrydo's topic in GPS technology and devices
Works for me... http://gpsinformation.info/penrod/oregon/oregon.html -
I had a similar problem with Mapsource and discovered that the problem was the trip & waypoint manager. For some reason there was a conflict. I unistalled it, then re-installed Mapsource, and all was well.

help with position format
DustyWalker replied to dirtyhippieboy's topic in GPS technology and devices
You need to change the position format on your receiver to "hddd mm ss.s"
