  1. Thanks, Joe. I'll have to remember your post the next time someone states that WalMart's policies would forbid any caches on their property. Joe can correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I'm reading, the property in question was developed by Wal-Mart as a park. It is not a Wal-Mart parking lot. A parking lot was built with the intent to allow people to park. A park is built with the intent to be outside. Your suggestion that this example shows that Wal-Mart will allow caches at their parking lots & retail establishments is a faulty argument. There is “NO” faulty argument, caches are allowed at Wal-Marts any where with permission "" Period ""
  2. Have four regular size caches at Wal-Mart, it took seven months to get the proper permission from them for placement but it was worth it for what they accomplished From the cache pages: With the new Supercenter in southeast Nashville will be getting there over a stream. The company ended up building six bridges instead of paving over a creek, part of a deal with local environmental authorities to develop the site on Nolensville Road south of Old Hickory Boulevard. "It's kind of unusual in a retail development that you'd have all this greenery and water through the middle of the site. The company planted 250 trees left 12 acres undeveloped ans set aside a 5 acre conservation easement along the creek that could be used for a future public greenway. Although company officials described the new store as fitting into its “commitment to sustainability “ keeping with local environmentalists concerns. Not only does Whittemore Branch Creek run right through it, the creek is a tributary on Mill Creek, home to the endangered Nashville crayfish ( a shell fish ) They are not all drive by or micros at Wally Worlds Joe
  3. Maintenance check was done three days ago and everything is as it should be, go for it Joe
  4. Caterpillar has a product just for this type of problem, part number # 6V-6640, it comes in a small tube of 1.69 FL. OZ. ( 50 ml ) a bit pricey but its works, have used it on several occasions Joe

  6. Groundspeaks policy of secrecy does not bode for having them work for the common good. Locally we have a hospital. They wanted to take the hospital new directions but had funding issues. Their current public status as an arm of the county got in the way of that. There were offers to go private, go public, go non profit. The county commissioners were tempted by the up front payment to go private. The county citizens had a preference for non profit. The hospital board had their own views. Something finally got decided. Everyone with any power signed a non disclosure agreement. No nobody knows the real answer. I believe we do need closed door meetings at time to discuss things frankly. However the end result, and must of the process needs to be open. Please stop trying to contact Cracker Barrel corporate headquarters, except for Michael. He is on top of it Here in the local are of Cracker Barrel corporate headquarters, we have two geocachers that work there, they can do more good than all the emails from disgruntled cachers Please let Michael do his thing Joe
  7. Oh come on now, and tell us how you really feel Joe

  10. “““”““The lost art of logging, Laziness or "monkey see, monkey do"?””””” None of the above, sorry but I do not have command of the English language, my spelling and grammar are really bad, am a cut and paste kinda of guy but to the best of my knowledge have never logged one TNLNSL If you want some really cool logs a make it an additional requirement, and will I skip it, but if they had their phone number listed would give them a call and tell them all about da cache, good or bad Joe
  11. This one is still in use today OUTLAW AIRPORT BEACON 1953 // GC2478 Joe
  12. What is a pocket cache?I have not heard of them. It's another way for the numbers hounds to pad their find count without actually finding a geocache. The true, and original Pocket Caches are also great for ice breakers at events to get to know one another, as Show Me The Cache coined the phrase “”is that a cache in your pocket or are you just happy to see me “” And yes it has been taken advantage of, but still ok to do under the current guidelines and log the event page multiple times Joe
  13. The best definition to the four corners’ of the logo, that I have heard “”When They Are Together”” we are having fun now Joe

  16. This much of the OP idea I agree with 100% how they are reviewed and the mechanics don’t care about how, that is up to Groundspeak Joe
  17. Have greatly enjoyed the (ODS) The One Degree of Separation Project, it took someone with imagination to come up with the idea and to implement. When ever I read that the sport is changing from where it should be, an reminded of Virtuals, Locationless, and Scavenger Hunt type caches all fun when we started playing the game but are no more Hope fresh ideas keep coming, keep up da Tooooooooo Cool project Joe
  18. Have about 150+ Members Only Caches ain’t going to change anything, number one reason. It’s a proven FACT on my Members Only Caches that the swag stays better longer and less found by mugglies which means they last longer. The only reason I can contribute to this is that Premium Members care more about the sport and are more caring when out caching not to be spotted when hunting. If a family has only one Premium Membership, will show them how to log it. Long live “””Members Only Caches””” Joe
  19. There were four regular people, da rest were wild and crazy cachers Joe
  20. There is no need to stick up for non-paying members in this thread because nothing has been written specifically against them. The OP shared his experience regarding cache contents degradation. I shared my experience regarding preventing it by creating a challenging, paid member only cache. It's not theory or "faulty reasoning", and it's not a slam against non-paying members; it's a solution that has actually worked for me. One other poster has affirmed my solution. I don't know whether that affirmation is based on experience or supposition, but I read nothing in his post that I could construe as denegrading toward non-paying members. agree fully with worldtraveler Joe
  21. 5175 miles one way for one cache, am I silly or what Mission 4: Southern Bowl by Project APE (GCC67) Brazil Joe
  22. An honest post would have included a bit more information about this cleanup. There was a "whole bunch of folks" because they all wanted to log ANOTHER find on the caches. That certainly brought a lot of "happiness" to the Nashville folks. There are now some "new" micros in locations not too far from the old hides. Takes too much time to cache outside the city. -WR Was at the event, and only logged once, please get the facts right “Micro” Reputation Reparation Discussion It was worth the effort by everyone involved, and if someone wanted to claim an extra smiley for it so what Wish all major cities would do the same. Joe
  23. Just got some way cool stencils from Sissy-n-CR.com and they are very high quality Joe
