  1. Looks like this is still a problem. I can't see any archived caches that I own or have found. I did do a "my finds" pocket query which does list archived caches and I can view them that way, but still can see my own.
  2. When I go to my public profile to view my completed Adv. Labs, I get a 404 DNF error page(screenshot below). It only appears when trying to view my Adv. Labs, no other caches types. I'm using a Mac with Safari browser. Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?
  3. I guess the number is over 200, as I too was one that used the "list newest" in my state on a DAILY basis, I have very rarely used the advanced search option. Now it takes me 7 clicks and scrolling to get to the same place that took me 1 click before. I can't see how this helps me, when the find nearest benchmarks and waymarks are still there, and I NEVER use those.
  4. Around here there are many caches that have been found prior to publication. I have found two caches, pre-publishing. One was place by my brother in law that gave me a print out of the cache page prior to it being published. The other one was just a stroke of luck. I was looking in the gallery of a cacher whose caches I had recently found when I saw a picture that I wanted to see closer than the thumbnail. I clicked on the picture and it said I could not view a picture of a cache that was not yet published. Even with just the thumbnail and the name of the unpublished cache I was able to determine where the cache was by having itimate knowledge of the area. It was an area I spent alot of time at as a kid and knew all the little in's and out's of. I went to the area immediately and found the cache without having any coord's. I signed the log as FTF and headed home. The cache was published about 3 hours later and I logged my FTF. I count both of these as a FTF in my book. The first one, I know seems to have been "cheating", but the second one I am proud to say that I found it first, irregardless if it had been published or not.
  5. Here's a couple of pics I took while caching. My son(Harvick29) and I in Kettletown State park. The two of us again at Kettletown, trying to figure out which way to go. The two of us on Mt. Higby in Meriden Maddog1973, my brother in law, retrieving a now archeived RJ Ferret cache.
  6. Thanks for all the help and advice. I just ordered from Buy.com, using the coupon in this posted by cryppie. I ended up choosing them, because they offer a percentage of the sale to my kids upromise account. I'll be ordering the map software from Amazon, as they seemed to have the best price for that. Thanks again to all that responded.
  7. I've finally made up my mind to buy a new 60csx. I've been doing some shopping around on the net and came up with a really good price. I have never heard of the vendor before and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. The vendor is COMPUPLUS.com . Does anyone know anything about this vendor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff

  10. Apple also just released a beta program called "Boot camp". It allows you to run Windows on your new Intel based Macs
  11. My brother in-law lost his cell phone when he was placing his first cache. It was a 1.5 terrain rating only 500 from parking, but he went back multiple times with no luck finding it. He gave me the coords to the cache on the day before it was an approved cache. My son and I went out searching for the cache and within 5 mins the GPS led us to ground zero. But instead of finding the cache at that location, we found his cell phone. Bright yellow in a green mossy area. It took us another 15 min to actually find the cache. We called him up and told him the story and he laughed. You can read the logs for the cache at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...&log=y&decrypt= *Jeff*

  16. This category would be for any building that is currently used as a firehouse anywhere in the world.
  17. I would be interested in this type of software. I would like it to be able to transfer the information to both my GPS and Palm PDA. I would be willing to pay a shareware fee for it.
  18. Have the new virtual rules been established. I found this cache got approved the other day. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0c-396a01d9becb Lest We Forget, GCPE58 I saw this but couldn't find anything about any new virts, or LC's on the homepage.
  19. Thanks to all that responded, both in the forums and via e-mail. I am closing the thread.

  21. We just had a few new caches pop up on our new in state caches page today. I had thought of going after one of them for the FTF, but I had a few things that I had to do first. Prior to setting out for this cache, I checked the site one more time and found that a local cacher had found the cache 3 days ago, the same day that the cache was placed. But 3 DAYS PRIOR to it being approved and listed on the web site. I was wondering how these people are doing this and what can be done to prevent it in the future, so as to give everyone a fair shot at when they "see" the cache on the site. I think everyone other than the approver and the hider should be able to see it at the same time, not have some people be able to see them first because they know a loophole in the system. Needless to say I was discouraged, and did not go after the cache today.

  23. I just posted my first cache last weekend. Within 2 hours it was approved and online. Just a couple of hours after that there was a FTF. I think the process was quick and easy.
