It should be noted that the /perry/chipset_firmware directory was put there at 1XL-on-XR650L's encouragement and some of the files were provided by him. I had previously collected several of the update files, but not any for the Vista HCx chipset.

In the pre-H version the Venture Cx did do auto routing. It was a great little unit and is still my every-day carry.

A 1.5x2.2 screen is pretty close to 2.6 diagonal, but other than that I have no idea what they're talking about.

Not that it will help reduce the confusion much, but Garmin has posted the first software update for the Oregon.

Pretty much the same in the mac world. Right-click on the file, or control-click if you have a one button mouse. Choose 'open with', select Bobcat if it shows in the list. Choose 'other' if Bobcat doesn't show, then navigate to and select Bobcat.
To make Bobcat the default for .gpx files right-click on a file and choose 'get info'. Go through the same process as above and then choose 'Change All' under the text which says 'Use this application to open all documents like this'.

Both Topo 2008 and City Nav NT will allow you to install directly to the Mac if you get the right disk. Bobcat and MapInstall will get you through just about everything you need after that. They are still in beta, but improving with each generation.

Bobcat will let you look at the maps on your mac. MapInstall will let you put them on your Garmin (USB only)

I have also noticed that, but have only had the 760 a few days and was using a home made TourGuide file so had not yet determined where the problem really was.
In my case I'm also missing the jpg attached to the POI. Has anyone else experienced that, or is it perhaps a formatting problem with my file. The file works fine on a 660 and the jpg show fine there.

I initially had that problem also, but solved it with help from the Garmin Bobcat beta team. My memory is that the solution was to delete Users > 'username' > Library > Preferences > com.garmin.Bobcat.plist
