  1. To see who has viewed your cache page... at the top under the title click "Read the audit log".
  2. But you can see who HAS viewed your cache, which may help..??
  3. Doubt if many people on here either know what a NOTAM is or have access to them so please publish more details when they become available. Thanks
  4. Can't see any questions to respond to....?
  5. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg... STILL can't log in properly. Using our name and password geocacheuk will not accept us. If we try to register those details it comes back and tells us they're already in use. If we click the link to trigpointing and sign in it accepts us immediately. It's always been like this, which is why we only use the trigpointing site.
  6. All comments to us noted with thanks. We rarely come on this forum so that's why we're not au fait with all the peculiarites of the game. Maybe we need to stay in more!!!
  7. We're relieved to hear that deceangi does caching, albeit under another name - but why the secrecy? I think lots of people are losing sight of the fact that this is a game and should not be taken too seriously with strict rules and "secret" reviewers. All getting a bit Pythonesque we feel.
  8. <<Sorry Matrix but after discussion between the reviewer community and Groundspeak, writing on the back of the sheet does not constitute a log book/sheet and as such does not meet the requirements for a log book/sheet.>> What is the difference between writing on the back of the sheet and writing on the back of a piece of paper which may be "trapped" between a magnetic sheet and a metal object? If these restrictions are the results of discussions between reviewers I doubt the motives of the reviewers. We note with that deceangi - reviewer for the uk - has never found a cache!! We sincerely hope that this person has another name under which they find caches or we seriously question his/her qualifications to carry out the task of reviewer.
  9. Having lost one of our micro caches during ground clearance we decided to replace it with a "cache" similar to one we had found abroad. It involved the use of magnetic plastic material with some numbers painted on it which had to be emailed to us to claim the cache. It would have presented a very difficult cache to find. Admittedly, we did not read the guidelines fully and were suprised when our cache idea was rejected. Apparently every cache MUST now have a log book. Obviously there is nothing that can de done about it - "they" have spoken in much the same way as "they" did about locationless caches. We think it's a great shame because some of the very best caches we have done were those without log books - especially the tiny nano-caches which we seen in the UK. They will remain active but you can't lay one any more. We love geocaching and we enjoy swapping and moving TBs around but we also enjoy the occasional really difficult one, for example GCQPCT. Some we did in New Zealand were incredibly ingenious and took a great deal of searching even though they were not even hidden. C'est la vie....
  10. We take a laptop on holiday... unplug the phone line from the phone, plug it into our laptop, dial our ISP, log our caches. Simple..
  11. We have long used Memory Map on an IPAQ PDA connected to our Garmin GPS12XL and it works flawlessly. We were recently given Tom Tom 6 as a pressie and it will not recognise our Garmin GPS on the PDA despite us trying every possible combination of settings. In the last few days we were given a tiny GPS receiver which sticks to our sindcsreen with bluetac and plugs into our PDA. Tom Tom immediately recognised it and now works like a dream. However, Memory Map will not recognise the new GPS receiver! It would be so nice to use the new GPS with both programmes so has anyone else expereinced similar problems - and solved them?
  12. There's a feature called "static naviagtion" on some devices which we don't understand but have been given to understand it is why our old clockwork GPS12XL appears to be more accurate than some more recent models. We have often been out geocaching with people using "modern" gear and they gaily keep walking when our GPS says we've arrived at the cache. 9 times out of 10 we're right, but their GPS then seems to catch up and point back to us! It has happened too many times to be just a quirk. It has certainly dissuaded us from updating to a newer model until we understand all the bells and whistles on new ones.
  13. I feel for that ambulance man.... an aeroplane going to Heathrow once was told "You are 8 miles from touchdown", to which he responded "No, we're 173 miles from touchdown"... He was supposed to be going to Manchester!!!
  14. We don't chase the Waymarks, or whatever they're called, but we did enjoy locationaless caches very much.
  15. The Magnetic North Pole can be quite some distance from the True North Pole as its exact position varies, hence the gradual change of magnetic variation in any one place and the fact that magnetic variation is different wherever one is on earth.
  16. Edward Stanford is the ultimate map supplier and they provide lightning-fast service: http://www.stanfords.co.uk/
  17. <<So much for my claims about these things being built like brick conveniences and Garmin having a generous repair policy.>> If I had a quid for every time we've dropped our GPS12XL I'd be a millionaire! As for Garmin service, everyone knows how good it is. Over a period of 10 years they have replaced with brand-new two items for us. There was no charge and they were delivered by courier. In each case the devices were well outside warranty and one had been bought abroad. Many people have expereinced similar service but you can't expect such service if you negligently damage your equipment.
  18. We picked up one of these coins today in the mistaken belief that it was a "real" geocoin. In logging it on the dedicated web site we made an error and had to enter a second log to correct the mistake. There seems to be no way of editing a log entry nor any way to contact the owners. Does anyone know how to contact them please??
  19. We're very happy using WGS84 for everything. If we want OS we have to fiddle with our ancient GPS so we don't use it.
  20. Naturally one is grateful for volunteer efforts, but the site never accurately reflected true totals. The site mentioned above (Rankings for Geocachers in the UK ) does.
  21. But.... only in Version 5 we believe? It doesn't work on V4.
  22. Dead simple, Bat Fink - become a Premium Member.
  23. 2 Phils.. If you can get hold of Memory Map for the area you'll be visiting you can simply download a PQ to it and see all the caches. We just returned after 6 weeks in NZ and we bought the MM Topo maps for North & South Island and they were worth their weight in gold. We didn't find Google much use as the icons move about. Enjoy your trip over here... but we imagine you'll soon want to get home to sanity!
  24. We have V4 - the whole UK and are not bothering with V5. When we try to instal the NZ version it simply asks if we wish to change the existing set up. If we instal the NZ version, it won't read UK OS maps.
