  1. Okay, really. I'm going to look at my calendar and I am going to post two or three dates as a poll to see which one would be best for meeting at the Olympic Club (Slinger's version of BM--see above). You've been warned! I'm going to post some dates for the near future but we'll probably want to do another one when it is winter and we need to huddle for warmth. Oh wait, it doesn't get cold here. Seth! (originally from IL, where it does get cold)

  3. And yes, the kid has shoes now.

  5. Can you believe this? That MisterBig was somehow able to mess up my Real Hike VC cache and turned it into eVil HaCkeR Cache! There seems to be no end to this guy's evil ways.
  6. I was able to download the video. That poor guy with the cute little kid! I thought he was going to keel over... But it's hilarious! - Seth!
  7. Wayne, er, Syn: Placing one or two caches while on your trip sounds swell. But don't go too crazy. The good folks of Montana probably don't need a whole bunch of unattended caches over there. Don't forget your toothbrush. And be sure to call. Love, Mom! P.S. How do you pronounce Syn anyway? The girls at the bridge club are wondering.
  8. 3 missing travel bugs?! Lazyboy, you aren't supposed to snatch all of the TB's when you're maintaining your cache! - Seth!

  10. Hey folks, isn't it about time that we think about doing this? Those of us who cannot attend the Wednesday night gatherings might still be up for a Barley Mill-style evening. Seth!
  11. I hadn't visited the forums for a while. Now I remember why. I come across threads like "weapons" or other threads where people shamelessly display their illiteracy and narrow minds. If anyone else is interested in actually discussing *geocaching* and can spell correctly, I'd be all for it. But I think most of us need to just get out and hunt a cache or two hundred. (But now I have to look over my shoulder...) Dismayed, Seth!
  12. I'm sure that there is not a simple solution. But not hiding geocaches in fee areas would be a good start! A big part of the problem, of course, is that so many citizens don't want to be taxpayers. They expect everything to be for free. But if we don't have to pay taxes, then erverything will have a user fee. That would really be a drag. We need to start voting for lawmakers who are wise enough to say, "yes, folks, you're going to be taxed" and smart enough to spend the money well. Personally, I don't like permits and fees. I'd rather have it all covered by my tax dollars. On the other hand, sometimes it is nice to know where the money goes. Again, no simple solutions. (I have a VC in an NPS-operated location and it costs $7 per carload. I figure I've paid more for less. It's cheaper than taking the family to a non-government operated movie.) - Seth!
  13. Hi all, I'm trying to get ready to head out of town for a few days. Here are some quick things about some of my geocaches: • M:I and SHR Doomed Yes, that's right. Mission:Impossible and School House Rock will be archived at the end of this month. So if you haven't done them and want to, now is the time. Actually, you won't be able to do much of M:I until I return on the 11th. Hopefully, I will have the next Mission ready shortly thereafter. • Seth!'s Clues The second paw print is back. This geocache seems to be working well and hopefully will be easier with a clue that doesn't fall off. At least, I think it won't fall off. Take the kids! • Cul de Cache This geocache is kind of vulnerable, so if you hunt it while I am gone please re-hide it very, very well. • Steel Mill Returns I am reactivating Steel Mill. I had to replace the container. Hopefully this one will work better and won't get stolen. Cheers, Seth!
  14. Yeah, we have reservations for the train in a few days. I hope to shout that it is running this week because I've wanted to ride that for as long as I can remember. I will be REALLY disappointed if I cannot. And it's not looking good. But if we get near the store, I'll sure say howdy. Seth!

  16. Thank you for the tips. I hope that the trip goes well. I'll post a note in this thread when we get back. We leave on Tuesday AM, so there is still time to make recommendation!

I guess I misunderstood (??) Oregon aint unique--we have the same situation up here. In WA, we exchange our pie recipes in our geocaches.

  20. I hope that you aren't serious. A) An urge like that probably requires help from a mental health professional. What in the world does that have to do with geocaching and why is it in this forum? Don't shoot me, Seth!
  21. Hey gang, my family and I are taking a trip from Kirkland, WA to Durango, CO. (No, we aren't firefighters.) I'd like to hit a few geocaches along the way. Can you tell me of some that would be very close to our route and relatively quick to do? We'll be traveling via ID, UT, and CO, along these Highways: I-84, I-15, US-6, US 191, US-666, CO-789 Here is a map and another map and yet another map showing some of our route through your states. Any ideas you have are appreciated!! Thanks, Seth!

  25. Hi everyone. The character limit was just raised and is no longer 5,000 characters. There should be room now for pretty much any reasonable cache page. Also, you no longer have to put HTML tags in for most of the basic formatting. Until this week you had to include and tags (etc.) yourself. OR you may have noticed that the formatting magically appeared--That was done by your fantastic admin staff. Now it will be done automatically, just like in your log posts. You may still choose to do your own HTML coding if you wish. You'll see a check box for it when you post a new cache. An aside--> Please put a lot of thought into your geocaches. There are so many being posted these days that we all need to make sure we are really trying to post quality geocaches.
