  1. I'm all for that! Some of you guys love to intimidate the newbies with your "vast knowledge" of all things GPS and geocaching and seem more likely to insult than help new people. It's not happened that much to me yet but other posts I have read make me feel sorry for the people asking the questions and trying to get feel for how geocaching works. Also, coming down on members for posting questions already posted before is petty. Just because you old timers know it all doesn't mean the newbies are as informed as you are. I have been wondering why so many members have been registered for years and only have a handful of posts. I think I get the idea why that is now. Please be kinder to the newbies. They promote and enjoy this sport just as much as anyone else when out in the field. Which helps us all, right? Don't flame me....this is just an observation. Get off your high horses and help people instead of making them feel like dummies or that they are not wanted here. Yes, and I was talking about those arrogant people who complain constantly how bad the forums are, and want to get rid of them, all the while spending plenty of time in the forums. Odd, isn't it? I hear ya, Sparky. I like the forums, I have learned alot so far. I'm glad they're here because, believe me, if the weather here was any better than its been the last two days, I wouldn't be in the forums either. But since I can't go out and geocache, I might as well be reading up on it in the forums. Team GPSsaxophone said it best.........basically, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
  2. Mean people suck! Trade up, trade equal or Don't trade! I saw that phrase when I first starting doing this and am going to stick by it at every cache. I'd be so ticked off and put off about hiding anymore caches if I went to do maintenance and found out all that was in it was trash. Before you put in an item for trade, think about how you would feel if someone put it in your cache. If you wouldn't like it, don't do it to someone else. I am getting ready to hide my first cache and it's been pretty disheartening and discouraging to read most of these stories.
  3. Thanks bunches for the info, Rosco! I am going to subscribe just to help pay for the cache listings that aren't MCO's. I think I get enough of them that I don't need to do the MOC's anyway. Good enough reason, dontcha think?

  5. I watch accounts that I already have the cache pages printed out on and intend to do soon. That way if anything changes before I get to go do it, (moved, missing, archived) I will get a notification on it and can note changes on the cache page that I printed out.
  6. Well, I guess I will just leave my member name and email address on the outside. That way if anyone REALLY needed to get ahold of me, they would find a computer somewhere. Thanks for the advice. I can't wait to hide this one.
  7. I am preparing my first cache to hide. I have a stashnote printed out. Should I put my contact information on it as well, just in case it needs to be removed or whatnot? I am leary of leaving my phone number on it but I would be willing to put my email address on it. But then, people without a computer would have a hard time reaching me. Do any of you put contact information in a cache and if so, what kind of information do you leave?
  8. Thanks for checking, CoyoteRed! That was nice of you!
  9. Well, I understand that. I was just asking about one of the other benefits of becoming a premium subscriber. I'm all for supporting GC.com and will sign up anyway but also would like to get use of the other benefits as well.
  10. You mean there's still such things as guy things? I hadn't noticed.
  11. Are there many 'premium subscriber only' caches to make it worth it to become a premium member? I'd like to know if there are many in my area before spending the extra money. I'd hate to sign up only to find there aren't any in my area.
  12. Does the system automatically decide for you if its a grab or a retrieve according to the TB history or do you have to look up the TB's history first in order to determine whether you grabbed it or retrieved it? I haven't done either yet but it would be nice to know ahead of time.
  13. Is there a limit to how many caches I can have on my watchlist? Thanks in advance. PandyBat
  14. Is it possible to download waypoints with EasyGPS onto a basic Garmin eTrex? If so, what do I need to do that, cablewise?
  15. Thanks Glenn! I signed up with that yahoo group a couple days ago. Not much talk going on....must all be out geocaching...lol
  16. Sorry Kris. Forgot to log you out first. It would be nice to be an approver. That way you would know where the newest caches were and could go to them first. But I still wouldn't want the job. I would rather spend more time looking for them, than reviewing them. I appreciate the job the approvers do now.
  17. My husband, sister and BIL have all recently become addicted to this newfound hobby. Are there any events out there coming up that we might be able to attend in order to meet some of the people in the Springfield and surrounding area? We'd love to meet you!
