  1. This one is offline until late spring, but put A Mine Is A Terrible Thing on your list of "To Dos". It is one of my favorites.
  2. Here are the photographs of the Caching Through The Snow #4 Event coins. Here is the front: This is the back: For the back, I selected the hard enamel (on right) for the finish. Each coin will cost $10. Let me know if you would like me to set aside any for you.
  3. Congratulations!! Keep on hunting and I'll look forward to seeing you at CTTS#4 to congratulate you in person.
  4. We are now at above 50 confirmed attendees and it is time to do some of my logistical planning. If you will be interested in an event coin, please let me know. There will be two versions, each with two types of metals (shiny gold/antique silver and shiny silver/antique bronze). Because of the design, size, tracking code and multiple metals, the cost will be $10 a coin. For the morning hike format - do you prefer the one, very large group (all together) or the multi-team format like last year? Please confirm to me the number in your group who will be going to the Krogh's Restaurant. I need to make sure they set aside enough tables. It looks like it is shaping up to be a lot of fun. PRAY FOR SNOW!!!
  5. Disappointed in the outcome of my Pirates video off the computer attempt, I did manage to find some other event footage and recreated a highlights reel. This includes the Mission Impossible, gerbiL cacHe and Caching Through The Snow III Events held in 2006. Below is a shortened version of the video above focusing on Caching Through The Snow III portion.
  6. The pre-event hike will be at one of three locations: Kitattinny State Park (Andover) near GCJ604 Sparta Glen Park near GCQZM1 Sparta Mountain WMA (Edison monument location) near GCRJXF All are within a 15 minute drive of Kroghs. I will be scoping locations this weekend and next to make a final determination. We will plan to meet at 9:00 AM where ever it is.
  7. SNOW in Sparta this morning - maybe it will stick until the 9th.
  8. Great stuff B&S. This video reminded me that I hid a cache several months ago and completely forgot to list it. You two get to the greatest locations. PS - How's the foot? Here is the Please forgive the poor quality. I burned the original to a DVD then got rid of the original files. This was videotaped off my iMac computer and then converted to a web file. Which makes it a copy, of a copy, of a copy...
  9. Congratulations. Keep on Caching!
  10. You missed a fun morning. Check out the video

  12. I saw there was a thread on NE Caching Photos so I thought I would start one on NE Caching Videos. Let's see who can be most creative and best highlight geocaching in the Northeast. I'll start with the video I made of our Manunka Chunk Tunnel adventure yesterday with Joisey Girl, LakeLady, Mountain Racer and ACE 2090. This video shows most of the hike in (and out) so don't look if you want to be surprized. It does not give any clues for the actual hide. Unfortunately a few special effects did not translate well to web video (something to keep in mind for you other iMovie owners). The link is Remember to post your comments and ratings so our NE Caching Videos float to the top of the video selections.
  13. At least two of us will try to meet you at 10:00.
  14. Here is the coin design for the event. As I was a little slow on the "draw", I am hoping it will make the deadline. For event attendees, I will have an antique silver finish on top of a shiny gold metal and for non-attendees I will have an antique bronze on top of a shiny silver background. As I went with two metals and a 3D treatment, I think these will end up being $10 a coin. You can see the coin design image HERE.
  15. That's a major bummer. Having broke a knee a few years back, I know the recovery is painstaking. Your in my thoughts for the lesser of the two evils. Bailey and I have been tied to marching band and soccer (kids) for some time but when that ends, maybe we can get out and help.
  16. I have finally gotten around to posting the event listing for Caching Through The Snow IV which will be held on Sunday, December 9th in Sparta, NJ. As always, there will be a pre-event activity or hike. I am evaluating a few options and locations so please watch this thread for more information as the event date approaches. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
  17. Well I have only seen one bear so far this season and it was a drive by in my car. Of course, I haven't got out much this summer due to kids lacrosse, soccer, band, swimming... I did just post my first video to YouTube featuring a bear I saw last Fall in Kitattinny SP (Andover, NJ). Here's the Soon it will be my geocaching season (cold) and hopefully I will see a few more.
  18. No multis rules out the king of all hiking caches, NY/NJ Multi State Multi Cache and the crown prince, Eye Carumba. Actually most of the really good hiking that I can think of are multis. TRL's Petroglyph Trail, Graffiti Rock Ramble, Giant Stairs, Splitrock Splendor and Terrace Pond North. I just redid the markers for Stages 1-4 on the Petroglyph Trail Challenge and replaced them today. Those of you who have been holding out should head out for a hike. Just update your listing before you do.
  19. Go John Go! What an awesome experience. I'll try to follow along virtually. All the best! TRL
  20. Congratulations! I'll hide a few more bike friendly caches to keep you in the game!
