  1. I don't get the whole walking stick idea. I never use one and find everything much better when i have empty hands while walking. If I need a stick to cross a river or balance or something I'll just grab one. So I guess I could see it in an area where there are no trees. . .

  2. wow, some awesome ideas! I kind of like the idea of the folding boat, and the cost of the inflatable $50! woo hoo! and the whole idea of the One Sheet Skiff! although building it myself. . . I don't know. I've got a nice garage and a set of tools. . .

  3. I'm keen on getting a little boat (yes markwell I read the canoe thread) but i'm thinking even a canoe is a bit much. It needs to be very light (I'm a weakling) and it needs to be or become very small (i've got a little car and precious little storage space) Any ideas? Oh yeah, I'm also broke so it has to be cheap, too.

  4. oo, there was anice multi in the princeton nj area that started with 'tudes to a parking lot, then you had to interpret the map there, then do some calculations on grafitti on a tree, then. . .well it was a long trek with many many stages. Several of which were plain old jars of varying sorts.

That's just plain ignorant (...and tacking on a couple of 'smiley' icons doesn't change it).

That's right, canuck it's ignorant. Everyone knows you have to line the towel with aluminum foil for that to work.

And there's the rub! Once this sort of technology is in place, it is a very fine line betweeen how it's used. People can say "well it's to make sure our property isn't misued" but if the van is being misused what's to say the gps tracker isn't misused? The real problem is it doesn't matter if you are doing a good and legitimate job. Like sexual harrassment, it doesn't matter if you really did it or not, the fact that you are accused is what sticks with people. People in the US are not concerned about the homeland security business because they think that they have nothing to worry about because they are not terrorists. But you don't have to actually be one to be accused of it, and then of course it's too late. So that's a long-winded way of saying that although I do not deny that there are some advantages in certain situations, using GPS to track people in any way (either thier vehicles or their cell phones) is BAD and UNAMERICAN. Privacy is a myth and freedom only a memory
