  1. Site has been down for about 2 hrs. No error message or anything. Like it's a DNS problem. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  2. I would vote for maybe both, definately not a native burial mound alone, and most likely a kame. I base this on Juicepig's link to Google Earth in his origianl post. Just eyeballing it - it looks like the base of the mound is about 1,000 ft in diameter and the top is about 400 ft. Bigger than any indian burial mound I've ever seen. 3. Could be a .... oh sure now I forget the name. What do you call it when a glacier has a hole in the middle of it and melted water (and rocks, dirt, etc.) flow to the hole and through it and deposit themselves in a shape just like this? Many high points in an area like ours are from glacial features just like this. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  4. I've never created a cartridge so I didn't know that. Thanks Audion for teaching me something new today. I'll make that request soon on the Geocaching.com Web Site forum to add html to the cartridge page creation form. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI Just where is the correct place to ask for this change? Deane
  5. I went back and added the GC number to the description. Wasn't my first choice, however. Sure would be nice if they would add a field for the GC on Wherigo.com. Thanks buddy Cartridge Notifier V2.34 alerted me and I got all excited thinking a new cartridge had been published in Michigan. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI

  7. I've noticed a trend among the cartridge builders when it comes to creating the description of their cartridges. Most don't link to an associated geocache in their cartridge descriptions. They always link to the cartridge in their geocache descriptions obviously. When creating your cartridge descriptions please consider linking to your associated geocache. Probably the vast majority of us interested in Wherigo find your cartridge first and then have to play detective to find your cache. It sure would be much easier to determine if there is a cache for your cartridge and then view it if you would include a link to it or at least the waypoint (GC#). Thanks for your time and consideration! Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  8. Thanks Dave, I'm sure that many folks new to the Wherigo game will find this a valuable resource. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  9. Hate to spill to many beans so: Have you done it? Would you create a genaric account to hide a cache that is out of character for YOU? Are there any local mystery hiders in your area like our Secret Agent? Share your thoughts or a link to your local mystery hider(s). Great timing, we've been talking about this very subject in the MiGO forums recently. I prefer to call them "pseudonym accounts". Kind of like an author using a pen name. If you want to know any more I'll quote the lyrics from one of my favorite bands, "Don't ask me no questions and I won't tell you no lies". Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  10. No problem, I'm sure Jeremy would love to talk about the $$$ with you Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  11. It would appear that now I know which server the Wherigo website is located. It was down for the entire time also. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  12. Just a heads up to others following this thread- The cartridge and geocache mentioned by the origianl poster invited the player to use the emulator to play the cartridge and find the cache. Some who have created a Wherigo geocache and associated cartridge do not appreciate that this "shortcut" exists. They may, in fact, consider it cheating. To combat this shortcut some are now using techniques to prevent the use of the emulator to play their cartridges. So be aware - the instructions I've outlined above may or may not work for each cartridge. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  13. Wow, that kind of leaves you wide open there litttle buddy! Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  14. I think if you try and do all the caches in two days you will be not enjoying the sites of the island you will be passing. This isn't a place for power caching. That being said, you may be able to do all the outside of the island/ferry landing ones in one day. But the interior ones will be tough in one day. You may be able to do it but you will be beat. Remember you will be riding a bicycle or horse to reach all caches. And the island is not flat. Have fun, Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI

  17. Super Ivy Dry. No prescription needed. You can find it in most pharmacies. Comes in a small pump spray bottle and dries the heck out of the blisters. Usually stops ivy in its tracks no matter what the stage - unless you get into a super potent batch. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  18. CosmicMiami- I'm sorry you had such a rough introduction to the GC.com forums. Unfortunately, may regulars here love to ride roughsod over anyone who happens to come along. And I must say they are very good at justifying their actions. My advice, after reading all that you have done, is to notify the reviewer that approved the cache of your esperiences. That's about all you have left to do. You can find the reviewer by going to the very first log on the cache page. Then forget about it. You can't force any hider to do what you think is right. 19. Your proposed "quaint village" cartridge sounds like a good fit for this technique: At the last stage before the physical cache container have the player end up at a plaque or fixed premanent sign. Don't divulge in the cartridge where it is except for creating the zone for it. When the player zeros out ask them to locate the nearby sign and then give the coords like a traditional multi: 42 37.ABC 85 24.XYZ A=number of letters in the first line B= the fouirth number in line 3 and right on down the line This isn't a fool proof technique. Someone very lucky or who knows the area may be able to solve this one either by cracking the cartridge on a text editor or by using the emulator. But it will discourage the majority that are seeking to cut a few corners. Not that I would ever do something like this myself for a FTF Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  20. Says so right on the web page for all the units: Create and play location-based adventures with your Oregon and Wherigo. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  21. OK, I was looking in your listed home state! This is so simple. Sorry, I couldn't resist! It looks so simple (this time). The cache page tells you everything you need to know: Laptop's can download the builder and use the emulator option." Within the Wherigo builder (used for building Wherigo cartridges) there is an emulator. The emulator is used to check out how a cartridge works without actually having to be at the location of the cache. Think of it a simulator. So here are the steps: 1. Download the latest version of the builder to your computer (laptop/desktop). 2. Install it. 3. Download the cartridge to the same computer. 4. Open the Wherigo builder. 5. Open the Emulator. 6. Run the cartridge. This involves visting all the zones and following instructions. May take a while to get the hang of this. 7. From taking a quick glance it looks like at the end of the cartridge you will receive the final coords to the cache itself. Come back and let us know how it goes (either way)! Good luck, Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI FTF on all 3 of Michigans Wherigo Caches
  22. I'm not showing a Wherigo cartridge or cache anywhere near you. Not in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, or western Nebraska. How about a link to it? I'll make some suggestions then. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  23. Ditto! Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
  24. Loved the song and the lyrics! I wonder who the geocacher in the group is? I've stayed and cached in PCB (Panama City Beach) several times and even co-hosted an event there. I didn't recognize anyone from the photos. Deane AKA: DeRock & the Psychic Cacher - Grattan MI
