  1. wait a minute, thats not an american film canister........ its got to be a japanese film canister, they take 5 times as many pictures!
  2. Well i assume then that you are just waiting for the Champions league draw to see where you can go caching! Kasachstan? or the Faroe Islands???? lol
  3. My transect line cache is 9.5 miles from the nearest TARMAC road, 6 miles from remotest train station []
  4. Wait a minute!!!!!!! There were rules?????????? Upps!
  5. remember though. a year ago this could have been the closest cache to home!
  6. i'll be there, any chance i can crash on a local cachers floor? or it will be another B&B excersion!
  7. QUOTE Harrogate Hunters @ Jun 14 2005, 02:32 AM Bizzare
  8. You guys have far too much time on your hands! Brilliant DVD clips. Cant wait for the full version. I have to do that cache sometime! Great scenery If Stu/Sarah reads this - maybe it should be attempted on unicycle!
  9. If we all got this paranoid abouts cameras in caches, there probably wouldnt be as many caches either. Some caches (such as ones up in north scotland) are placed on the tops of moutains which dont have footpaths leading to them and so cachers have to walk across 3 miles of bog and then asend the mountain to find the cache. Others are hidden in inner city parks, you never know what you are going to find when looking - it could be syringes, knives anything. If we got paranoid that we MIGHT find any of these at anytime whilst caching then, we would never go caching and geocaching would not exist
  10. Posted ages ago by Simply paul I have 2 points to make on this statement. Firstly its Scumthorpe not Scunthorpe and secondly its not safe around Glamford Park (especially when Lincoln City roll into town) - being a lincoln fan i know!
  11. Recieved a packet today from Groundspeak shop (via a US cacher). It contained 8 containers, rangeing from big lock n lock conmtainers to 1 which is not longer, or wider than my little finger! These will all be appearing soon!
  12. log by mobile????? You must shw me that on saturday!
  13. plastic tags were brought out as a trial last year. I dont think many were made, so a bit of a collecters item
  14. just a little worried, first we got TB's, then the plastic tags, then yellow jeeps and now white jeeps. what next? Blue boats?
  15. i think if i was an operative from al quider then i would have blown summat up in the 5 years i have been a member at geocaching.com it really should be me asking you for your address, then i can order the rocks and get them sent to you, then you can forward them to me!
  16. Hermit crab is moving! YAY Sadly though its gone further north instead towards the populated south!
  17. For me all these peices of software of jargon. I use a simple etrex and have done for 4 years. I dont see the point of upgrading or changing. i know how my system works (nice and simple)
  18. Trying to buy a couple of geocache rocks but, the geocache shop does not deliver to anywhere but the USA. AND not of the UK shops stock them. This is really annoying. Is it possible that a US cacher could act as a go between so i can order of the net and have them delivered to their address, they then forward the package on and if they want a cheque back for the costs of postage then this can be arranged. Hope to hear from someone soon!!!
  19. I am sorry guys but i have to disagree with all of you. From my back ground (i am studying BSC Outdoor Recreation) i am fully aware about being prepared, but i am also (unfortunatly) aware of how little preparation is taken by some groups when attempting mountains. For instance: A school group was walking on Cairngorm last year when they got into difficulty. Search and rescue were called but could only be told that they were "on a mountain without a map" so not grid reference could be given. S&R took 4 hours to find the group and upon arrival were asked "What took you so long?". The group where were from a local private girls school, were all wearing high heels, had not maps or compasses, or even rain coats. This is mainly because the school had not issued kit lists for the expedition planned. SO: If a school is this badly prepared, i am sure that (SOME) geocachers could be attempting caches in such a manner. Thus by helping them out with matches or lighters in extremely isolated areas, such as the top of ben nevis or in the middle of dartmoor, it could be the one thing that saves their life. I saw above that someone asked what they would burn? Well i belive that ben nevis is a micro cache (film holder), well if i was desparate enough i would light the log book and put it inside the cache so that the cache burnt! Simple.
  20. GCE146 needs to be added to that list
  21. In some places such as the top of ben nevis or any other mountain lighters should be kept in caches. If the weather closes in and he cacher is unprepared then a lighter could be their only way of starting a fire to keep warm
  22. One of my tb's disappeared in arkinsas last july and no word had been heard of it until a couple of days ago when it was found 3.8k away in an extremely remote cache which hasnt got a logged visit since 2002! Have a little hope with your tb's - they may still appear elsewhere!
  23. When (eventually) someone wins, a event (agm sort of thing) so that we can all discuss the journey and decide upon the next race. They always have a big party when the Paris Dakar rally ends, why cant we?
