  1. I suggest you also consider using: Load My Tracks Ascent .
  2. Where can this feature be found? You can find an illustrated answer HERE
  3. An observation by the original poster Well, the same problem that occurred exactly one week ago, happened again this morning. Satellite reception was lost shortly after booting up the Oregon, which is still running 2.95b and 2.80 software. Satellite reception was fine between last Saturday and today. Very strange behavior, indeed.
  4. I ran my Oregon for 5 days (performed flawlessly) and I know it had a full Almanac (including WAAS Satellite 51). The reception problem you described, and I experienced yesterday was "right out of the blue" (no pun intended). I am awaiting a reply from Garmin. Bill Interesting. Please keep us informed. Thanks.
  5. A note from the original poster. Thanks for all of the comments. The Oregon was working fine this morning. My guess is that I did not give the device enough time for the almanac to rebuild. After I did the 2.95 update, I shut down the Oregon shortly thereafter. The next time I started up, was when I had the satellite acquisition problem. Thanks again. Barrikady
  6. Update from original poster. Well, this morning all was working fine with the Oregon 300's satellite reception. Strange indeed.
  7. I fired up my Oregon 300 (2.95b and 2.80 software) this morning on the Pacific coast of North America... like I do every morning. Shortly afterwards the 300 beeped and I noticed it lost satellite reception. Hmm, that's strange, this never happened before. I shut the unit off and restarted, same problem. I then took out the batteries and reinserted them, still not fixed. I then fired up my 60Cx and all is well. About 10 satellite's are being received. At the same time the Oregon shows that 2-3 satellite's are being received. Has anyone else experienced this phenomena? Any suggestions? Thanks. Barrikady
  8. Thanks gocasher, I wasn't sure if Garmin was going to release the Mac version. After a preliminary review, I think Basecamp will be a real asset. Garmin: Thanks for the Macintosh support!
  9. No, my Oregon 300 does not turn off with 2.94
  10. Have you tried LoadMyTracks? I use it to grab kml files for GoogleEarth; it works very well.
  11. You're welcome. Yes, if you have a Mac running OSX 10.4 or later, and a Garmin GPS, you should give this sweet program a whirl.
  12. I have a Mac running OX, an Oregon 300 and a Garmin heart rate monitor. I use ASCENT from Montebello Software and Ascent grabs the heart rate data as well as speed time, etc. Very nice! They have a full featured demo version that has a limit to the number of activities that can be logged. I have no relationship to Montebello Software, other than being a satisfied customer!
  13. Put in 2.86 today. Went to a place with good reception. Got 2m on accurancy at best. But no WAAS/EGNOS. It was listening for #33, #37 and #39 but no EGNOS info seemed to be processed. My good ole MAP60CS on the other hand locked in on #33 and displayed the D on most of the birds fairly quick. I am testing right now and I see a good signal on #33, but no D's. Now going for #37, no signal. And #38 and #39 and #40. No good. Back to #33, good signal. Accurancy improved but still no D's. If this improves I will report back Oslo, Norway I tried WAAS with 2.86, and to my surprise I noticed D's on many of the satellites. 2.86 is the first release where I have ever seen a D on the satellite signal chart.
  14. Hi g-o-cashers, I have used Ascent with every release of the Garmin Oregon software upgrades, including 2.85. 2.86 is the first release to show a smooth graph at the point where I switch from Normal to Demo and back again. If you like I can send you jpg's of a couple of graphs done on 2.85 and 2.86
  15. I noticed what appears to me to be an additional improvement to the 2.86 Beta firmware/software upgrade. I have a 300 and I use a program for my Mac (Ascent) to plot out an elevation graph of a track. It works quite well and appears to be reasonably accurate. In any case, if I wanted to stop the tracking for a period of time, I would go to System>GPS Normal>Demo Mode. When I wanted to continue tracking, I would reverse the procedure. However, on the elevation graph there was always a jag in the graph when I changed the GPS Mode. With 2.86 the jag is gone and the graph is smooth. Nice.
  16. Hi Mark, Welcome to Groundspeak. This is a great place to get some basic, and not so basic info: http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/
  17. Many thanks to BlueDamsel and to g-o-cashers. I tried BlueDamsel's suggestion and I was successful in installing 2.85 on my Oregon. There was a small glitch. I was not able to get Stuffit to open the .exe file, but ZipIt did the trick. Thanks g-o-casher, now I see that I should have renamed Oregon_WebUpdater__285.gcd. "Easily done! Mac friendly! Life is good!"
  18. g-o-cashers, Thanks for the suggestion. I grabbed Oregon_WebUpdater__285.gcd from your wiki and followed the instructions , but it was a no-go. I was not able to find \gupdate.gcd in the Garmin folder. So I'm not exactly sure where to place Oregon_WebUpdater__285.gcd. Would you kindly elaborate? Barrikady
  19. You will not be able to load this version via a Macintosh. This is a beta release, and Garmin does not provide Macintosh interconnectivity for their beta software. You will have to wait for the software to exit the beta stage. At that time you will be able to load the software on to an Oregon by means of the Garmin Macintosh WebUpdater. .
  20. I needed to use an external antenna when I had a 60C. However when I purchased a 60Cx, I no longer needed to use the external antenna because the SiRF chip in the 60Cx and 60CSx is very sensitive. So, bottom line: No external antenna is needed with your 60CSx
  21. I have a Oregon 300 and I use OS X 10.5.6. I have no problems exporting tracks from my Oregon to Google Earth for the Mac. This is what I do: I use Load My Tracks to convert the Oregon GPX data to the KML format. I then have Load My Tracks automatically open Google Earth and there is the track. I then modify the color, width and name of the track and usually store the track within Google Earth. I hope that answers your question. .
  22. Excellent work! Thanks for all of your efforts.
  23. Allory, Thanks for the heads-up. Yes, 2.0.5 works with OSX 10.5.6.
