  1. Mine still works on Windows 8.1.
  2. Ive completely given up on programming Wherigo's , It appears that the website is the way to go to create them as oppose to programmers out there. Not enough participation with Urwigo I'm guessing.
  3. I could not find it in GSAK but I did look at https://project-gc.com/Statistics/ProfileStats#Maps, then chose the province Top 30 counties within region Middlesex: 1868 Hamilton: 63 Perth: 11 Elgin: 1292 Thunder Bay: 59 Peterborough: 11 Oxford: 353 Wellington: 58 Toronto: 10 Niagara: 255 Greater Sudbury / Grand Sudbury: 53 Algoma: 10 Essex: 183 Ottawa: 39 Lanark: 9 Brant: 111 Chatham-Kent: 35 Haliburton: 7 Peel: 101 Simcoe: 33 Bruce: 7 Haldimand-Norfolk: 100 Waterloo: 32 Hastings: 6 Halton: 73 Lambton: 26 Grey: 4 Huron: 71 Parry Sound: 15 Muskoka: 4
  4. 87% - updating all logs, fetching cache data ... "GEOCACHING.COM NOTE" Gsak column Okay well 45 mins later. GSAK was not the answer , but it did find all the "personal notes" , I ever made on caches that I have found. But wait they already have a link for that. If you can click on view all your "written logs" or "found logs" or ... logs period it gives you access to the GC code. Maybe a private list of GC code visits is the solution ? ... so NO this has not been resolved, and if it was... it was taken away once some of us that used it , I'm sure it will be missed. I do like this video, on learning another function of GSAK , its cool how the English language uses so many different words for the same meaning. ie : boot for trunk of a car, and why do we call it a trunk when its the nose of an elephant... .. and why ...
  5. I did find this guys video : But it will take Gsak and hour to update my personal "my finds" file to review some, but not all of my personal logged notes.
  6. Found this: but have not totally reviewed it. Can no longer filter by "Has Personal Cache Note." - Website ... forums.geocaching.com › ... › Website EDIT FOR CLARITY: In the past, you could filter by "Has Personal Geocache Note" if you opted out of the new map. If you're using the new map, ... Apr 26, 2019 - 32 posts - ‎14 authors
  7. LOL I know just like microsoft, not happy unless they change it for the worst
  8. Did not work for me. Did they update and remove this option ? Or is this under PQ's
  9. Without reading every paragraph on this note ... I tried to look for a list of all my personal without any luck. So say you are looking for a particular personal note there should be a link like draft notes ,where you could scroll thru them. If you want to look at all your log entries they have links for written logs, founds, DNF's ect... Even it its archived log entries can be reviewed. But I assume you'll never find a personal note again on an archived cache if you don't have the GC code. Hence is why I put up with all the C/O negativity why I leave written notes all over, I have decided to leave written notes so that I will always be able to find what I wrote about a cache. Again, even if its deleted... the system allows for you to add links, to the archived message good or bad.
  10. Unlike drafts, and written logs, you can click a link to get to them.
  11. I have personal notes on pages I wish I could find the information on a cache , for instance I left a note on that page, but now the page let's just say is archived. Well where's that note now ??? How do I find it ??? How do I access it ???
  12. Not sure if I am replying to the same issue. - been using firefox for eons, never any issues, using the same tablet. - Then geocaching goes and changes their maps to two different formats, in the right hand corner if white box states "search geocaches" which is the preferred method where every cache appears visible you can't use your finger on the screen, the pen works to move the map around and so does my mouse. But that's not why I bought the Surface Pro tablets. thanks for taking something once again that worked perfectly fine and buggering it up. - if the white box during the mapping function states "browse geocaches" you finger can scroll the map just fine but you are required to manually update the map to populate the map with caches, meaning caches often get missed because the screen is not updated. again great job guys.
  13. And then I was dumb, wait I'm smart again. So 2015, its now closing to 2020, why am I wasting my time you read? , and why am I wasting yours ?? Read on and you will see. - My first advice : Do not overload your device with crap, Skype worked great but added another account which slowed down the device. Adding other stuff such as survival apps seemed like a pretty good idea, probably a total of 20 or so were eventually installed when we were done. Simply to test out the device's capabilities if we liked it, we treated it like a cell phone with no service fees. Deleted some that didn't work, then just before I uninstalled half of them the unit simply crashed. - There are very few apps that work now at this time being for this device as, and a lot of other convenient apps that ended up crashing after the device was filled, I had to finally reset the unit which meant re-installing everything, but I wanted it to work completely off grid. And that's when I remembered the saying "keep it simple stupid" (KISS), its just a GPS, and that's its purpose. So after installing the Garmin North American maps and updates ect... I had to do it all over again. Unfortunately the preinstalled device and android apps all get updated too, Knowing now those updates which were the last to work on the device are also simply no longer functional. Not a surprise as it appears 3 months must be the maximum lifespan of a download, before it requires another update. When is this madness going to stop. - I looked to Geocaching website for its genuine geocaching apps, to which none will work anymore as the obsolete Android O/S is below 4.1 (4.0.4 current). Such a shame. The preloaded Garmin Geocaching app may or may not work to your liking, but if you treat it more like the Nuvi or less like a GPSmap series it can be still an awesome device. Just know that you may need to scroll virtually to the edge of the world and zoom into the less than 2km radius of your liking to get the presto remarkable feeling we all look to achieve. I can click on them on the map but they still did not appear in the generic geocaching garmin app preloaded to the device. - I have GSAK and Basecamp, but prefer the drop method too, as the device is only seen as a USB connection without a drive letter I can only assume using it while plugged in may also corrupt the drive due to O/S's fighting each another competing to access certain folders at the same time. It does not truly shutdown when you unplug it like the GPSmap series. However the real reason I wanted all the bells and whistles with this touch screen series was the fact you can mount the device in a cradle that has robust terminals unlike the delicate micro USB updating cable. Let it be known that those serial hardware wires thru the AMPS rugged mounts are also not for that purpose, Bluetooth and Wifi were the last options. - I found all the geocaching apps that can be installed today, are crap. Attributes are not added, pictures and maps are not supported and lets face it the smart phone simply beat it up. The price value for this Deorean simply dropped exponentially on the day it was released, and folks stupid enough like me to get the Kijiji experience , eBay everything for it, before its really gone for good. All to find out just to get what they were not expecting was a lot of work. So many promises on the outside, but hard to get it to run on the inside. You need a lot of spare time and resources. But in the end I will continue this note because I am still pleased with it as a GPSmap series replacement. - C:Geo sent me a download and it worked awesome, but because so much has changed it will not connect to the server as it is out dated, but I was told that would happen. - GSAK and the geocaching's garmin express download procedure only allows single files so far. Groups that are zipped... good luck at trying to unzip them without a computer connected to it. One worked and the other may or may not work for you. I eventually got both, but not the way I wanted it to. I used GSAK to add attributes to a log entry as a log entry using the MACRO function , re-saved or exported onto the desktop. I then installed the only operation that was able to allow me to download that file onto my device without cables. other than sending it to myself in a email I used Googles cloud using an app called Google Drive and it's all free and supported by google , so no 3rd parties, no paying websites whom might have sketchy software. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs - Thanks to StephanD I was able to work out the bugs for our trip where our purchased maps don't cover every square inch of the planet. And was able to add those attributes to the cache log entries a month in advance before we travel. Nothing better then having to travel in an unknown country, language barrier, no attributes, no phone communication, no pictures, minimal log entries, no web access and no maps, then expect to find a nano in a storm drain of a 3 world country. Fun, fun, fun.
  14. I have a Monterra GPS, to which I can choose different online and offline mapping options, online works great. But I'm not playing indoors, or tethering to my phone, so my other options are to find the maps on the GPS drive itself. Because it uses the Android operating system for our Chile trip I used maps.me app for offline. I purchased the topo for Canada, and North American road maps, though it has global highways for default it lacks the detailed info required, to which is why I bought the additional maps. But globally SOL again. But the maps.me app did the trick. But back to the Wherigo ... NO ! I believe we require a .map file extension to be stored on the drive, another format to look for ! http://download.mapsforge.org/ Unfortunately the offline map did not work ! And then I got it to work ! http://download.mapsforge.org/maps/world/ Index of /maps/world - not sure what I did V3 didn't appear to work so I tried another directory. system crashed ... reformatted to factory .... V5 no good, world map no good, both maps too big ! I think it was simply running online Guessing it won't display on the Monterra GPS units.

  16. I Got it ! Figured it out on my own, I am the smart ! Thanks for the posts, I followed the links and learned a lot. Even the webrowser on the unit is now out of date and does not function well.
  17. Whaaaattttt ! no way! Show me how ! StefandD Premium Member +Premium Members 62 633 posts Report post Posted Monday at 05:19 PM Attributes are not standard in GPX files, but GSAK - in combination with the GarminExport macro - can add them as the first log in the log section.
  18. 2019 : CGEO, Cachly, Geocaching, Geosphere - not one of them are available Geocaching buddies - eeehhh , does not have much to work with, very basic. Geocaching App preloaded on Garmin Monterra shipped as is, same... none of them have the attributes. Have not found anything to run on android system, unless it is a phone ! https://play.google.com/store/search?q=GEOCACHING+ATTRIBUTES&c=apps&androidId=117248039764560150127
  19. hum I wish I knew what you were talking about , sorry I don't understand.
  20. Okay so doesn't look like I can run Urwigo here either as the site has some security issues right now. Now that I have an apple computer to work out my windows 8.1 bugs, doesn't seem like I'll have a choice to work on it here either.
  21. Not sure what "please do not post to moderators means" is that the red "report post" symbol - (report this content)
  22. Wow. $$$ I believe I'm uploading it properly , but its when you download it, you get the error. Microsoft active sync - Wherigo webpages are full of broken links. http://www.Wherigo.com/contact.aspx - not a whole lot of support I assume a pocket PC - is maybe an iPhone ? Using with Wherigo Player for Pocket PC If you don't have a cartridge directory already set up on your PC, we recommend creating one and saving the cartridge file to that directory. To move the cartridge to your mobile device, you will need to connect the device to your PC and use Microsoft ActiveSync to navigate to your cartridge directory on the device. You can simply copy and paste your cartridge from your PC into this directory. The directory is normally Groundspeak/Wherigo/Cartridges.
  23. Wherigo type has been based on a fictional geocache hide. I have posted it as such to help others C/O's or Wherigo programmers, and to offer my assistance to help teach folks in our area on how to create these Wherigo's. If this interest you, please continue and/or contact the C/O to see if they can assist you. So I would not be able to use this text ?
  24. How can I delete older cartridges, I accidentally created another, no I have 13. The most recent one crashed again saying error with upload, but the file gets uploaded no problem its only hen you try to download it to a device like an iPhone.
