  1. drivel and jokes about anaphylactic shock aside...why not put nitrile gloves in caches if you feel the need to fill caches with gloves, since they don't tend to cause allergic reactions, and are better protection against penetration by glass, needles, sticks, etc. by all means though, continue with the PC and anti-PC arguing... j
  2. people could leave nitrile gloves instead of latex gloves...besides not potentially killing people with latex allergies, they are also more puncture resistant... j
  3. where does the tracking number go?
  4. my plan is to make this one a multi-cache with a couple of stages making use of podcache technology in places where the GPS won't get reception, including the final stage in the cave... jamie
  5. the Waymarking site is working just fine...
  6. Hi, That's part of it, but the gc.com front page does not allow me to find out how many caches are hidden in the United states as a whole, just state by state...unless I'm missing something...which I may be... Jamie
  7. I did a search on local caving orgs, and couldn't find any info that this cave is a part of their programming. I found the cave through an book on fun adirondack hikes, which recommended taking a look inside the cave and nearby sinkholes. The caves are on state forest preserve land, on which caches are allowed. I would certainly tell people to be careful of the vegetation in the area around the cave, but let me correct my OP...the fern species around the mouth of the cave are not endangered, just rarely seen in the normal course of hiking in the ADKs. I was thinking about caching a couple of hardhats outside the mouth of the cave for people who don't have their own. Could someone provide me with links to general information on caving safety, and good conservation practices while inside caves. The cave does not require ropes or climbing or squeezing through tiny spaces...it is a broad mouth coming out of the side of the mountain, and to gain entry to the chamber inside, you need to scramble through some rocks and there is water on the floor...my point in mentioning this is that I don't want to present this as spelunking, but as a nice hike with a cool cave at the end. Jamie
  8. Thanks, I'll try that... j
  9. Hi, I've been thinking about placing a cache that would end with a physical container hidden in a cave. I was thinking of doing this one as a podcache, after using some GPS coordinates to get you to parking, and through one or two other stages. The entrance to the cave requires a little scrambling to get through the firs t50 or so feet and into the main chamber. Beyond this the cave gets more technically challenging than I imagine most geocachers are interested in, so the container would be in the main chamber. It's a beautiful hike to the cave, the entrance is veiled with a couple of rare(ish) species of fern, and the cave itself has some interesting formations and erosional features. My questions are: would you seek/avoid a cache ending in a cave is it reasonable to insist that visitors bring a hardhat and flashlight there are some cool (and safe) sinkholes nearby, would you climb down to hunt for a stage Anyone with experience with this sort of cache, either as a hider or seeker, I would appreciate your imput especially. Thanks, Jamie
  10. I saw one of my TFTC geocoins listed on E*** with a "Buy it now" price that was 500% of the price I sold and am still selling them at... Economic systems work better with a free and accurate flow of information, which is not always available through E***... Jamie

    Apology For Badness

I know (hope) you're joking, but there have been so many angry posts recently... Jamie
  12. Hi, If I was lucky enough to find this coin in a cache, I wouldn't sell it (or any other coin I found in a cache)...that being said, the current goal of this coin is: The latest finder kept it, and will soon be giving it a new home. jamie

  15. Hi, WOW!!! Did I screw up. I don't know who to apologize to, so I figured I would post here, and wallow for a bit. I found this coin in August of 2004, and meant to drop it into a cache once I got back home to NY. I hadn't thought about the coin in almost 2 years when I found it this morning...I was cleaning out my son's "treasure chest", a box he keep all sorts of coins and stuff in (from geocaching as well as from other adventures). I really didn't mean to steal this coin, and will be putting it into a cache this weekend (probably my geocoin cache, Red Herrings)...sorry... Jamie
  16. Hi, I'm wondering how many geocaches are hidden in various countries around the world as opposed to in the US; and whether or not the proportions of inside the US to outside the US has remained somewhat constant since the inception of this site...is there a link or markwell to this information, or can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jamie
  17. any updates available on the CITO coin??? Jamie

  19. Hi, I just saw this show covering some of the world's best lost treasures, and #7 was geocaching...they did a cute little story with Brian and Megan Roth and Jeremy Irish. I don't know if this is an ancient show, and I just caught it now, but it was a cute piece on geocaching. Jamie
  20. I think you should consider checking out "The Armchair Treasure Hunt Club" ( http://www.treasureclub.net/ ). Jamie

    Tftc Geocoin

Hi, I asked for and received permission for this post from one of the geocoin forum moderators due to the fact that the TFTC geocoin was IN PRODUCTION when the new guidelines came out... I have about 100 of the TFTC! ("Thanks for the Cache!") geocoins left. If you would like to buy one or more of these geocoins, please send me an email mentioning how many of the coins you would like at $5 (which includes shipping unless you live outside of the US, in which case I'll charge a bit more), your email address, and I'll send you a paypal invoice for the total. This is what they look like... Thanks, Jamie
  22. Hi, I'm looking for a geotiki "YAWP" coin, and would trade all sorts of stuff for one...if you have one, and are interested in trading, please email me. Jamie
  23. Across the top of the geocoin it should probably read "Where" instead of "Were" ... J
