  1. The Adirondack Murder Mystery is a 21 stage multi-cache that leads the foolish adventure-seeker through some of the most beautiful country in the world, but also up pathless peaks, through bottomless bogs, over and under lonely and pristine lakes and ponds, on late-night hikes into bear-infested wilderness, and scaling cliffsides to solve a murder mystery set in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York (and...get a nice custom-made button proving that you solved, and survived, the cache). http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6d-5bc9c204ad53 Jamie - NFA

    Tftc Geocoin

{{{bump}}} I just ran across another ziplock of 50 of these in my closet, and as such will sell them for... $20 for 5 of the TFTC geocoins, that price includes shipping...these coins are not trackable, they have no icon, but they are pretty and cheap (when's the last time you bought a geocoin for $4 apiece, including shipping?). If you want to buy some of these great coins (see above for pictures), paypal me the appropriate amount at: jsheffield@gmail.com These coins were made and sold prior to the new rules coming into effect, so I'm hoping that my selling the last few is not a violation of the rules...if it is, for the love of God close this thread quickly, and resume buying expensive coins that don't have anything to do with geocaching... Thanks, Jamie
  5. so...more brick colored than creamsicle/baby aspirin... Jamie - NFA
  6. somewhere between creamsicle and baby aspirin...
  7. Are the Block Island light and lighthouse really creamsicle colored? Jamie - NFA
  8. my all-time record setting day was 13 caches, and these guys averaged that ever hour...WOW! it blows my mind to think about it...congratulations! Jamie - NFA
  9. my personal, non-trackable geocoins are available for trading...in addition, they and my TFTC geocoins have gone into every geocache I've found (and hidden) since the geocoins arrived...if you're not finding geocoins in caches, come to northern NY... Jamie - NFA

  11. Hi, I've read and talked about the change in geocoins a lot in the last few months, and wanted to start a discussion. Without naming specific coins or cachers, please put in your $0.02 about the change in geocoins in recent months (or discuss why you don't think the nature of geocoins has changed, if you don't believe that it has). I'm of two minds about the recent evolutionary stage of geocoins: success breeds imitation...the production/sale of geocoins has probably followed a growth curve similar to that of GPS units or (worst case) pet rocks...and will level out once the market is saturated. TPTB opened the door to crappy and/or commercial geocoins when they brought in the new "guidelines" that allowed people to make and sell whatever they wanted as long as Groundspeak got their $1.50 per coin... I'm interested in hearing what other people think about the reasons behind the change, or if people don't see a change. Thanks, Jamie - NFA
  12. no offense though ...does inserting "no offense" in front of a harsh comment make it warm and fuzzy? That being said though, I agree with you about the coins...I think that the open market will take care of these type of geocoins in the long run. puked skittles...I love that... Jamie - NFA
  13. I like hiding caches, so I have hidden about 1 cache for every 3 that I've found. I am just about at my limit, in terms of maintenance load, and so may start to retire some of my earlier hides, or the ones that aren't in great spots. I have caching friends who haven't hidden any caches, that's just no their thing...it's no problem, there's room in this game for people with all sorts of caching tastes and preferences. I do, however, have an issue with longterm cachers who don't become premium members...they are, IMHO, "hangers on". Jamie - NFA
  14. That looks like a great $6.50 coin...not $11 Jamie - NFA
  15. The idea was for it to lead people to free roadside coffee (like at some highways I've visited in Vt), free samples at factory tours (like I've gotten with class trips), and free samples at breweries... unfortunately, people were not interested in this category, making it the first one I've ever heard of that failed to pass peer review...admittedly, it's no McDonalds or fiberglass horse category, but I thought it would be cool to share. Jamie
  16. I treat Christian propaganda the same way that I treat pornography in geocaches...freedom of speech that I don't think belongs in geocaches...so I trade it out, and chuck it. Jamie - NFA
  17. Maybe I'm not explaining it very well, but when I tell friends and family and coworkers about geocaching, I often get the "Oh my god! Jamie's geek-o-meter goes to 11!". When I take people with me, they more often than not love it. Jamie - NFA

    Geo Coins

My personal geocoins are meant to be traded into and out of geocaches or kept as the finder chooses.
  19. I made an NFA personal geocoin this year, and am not on the other list due to my blatant profiteering... Jamie - NFA

  21. I've had 1 out of about 200 coin shipments go missing...at that rate, high though it is, it doesn't seem that delivery confirmation is worth it... (200 packages using delivery confirmation @ $0.60 = $120...even at $0.14, the delivery confirmation would cost $28...more than a replacement order would cost) Jamie - NFA
  22. You can move it yourself by up to 0.1 mile on your own by logging it using an "Update Coordinates" log-type. If the coordinates you used are further away fromt he actual coordinates than that, then you will have to email your local approver. Jamie - NFA
  23. Hi, A new category, "Free Food & Drink" has been sent to peer review, and is awaiting your vote. This waymark category will serve to mark locations around the world where people can find free food and/or drink. You can find out more about the category at: http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/category_...89-9d4e3ddab2fc You can vote for the category at: http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/peer_review.aspx?f=-1 Thanks, Jamie - NFA

    Geoblogging

I think that geocaching blogs would be a really cool premium member feature...I love the idea of sharing the cumulative log of a day of geocaching adventures with pictures mixed in throughout the blog. If it were centralized through gc.com, then the community-building aspect of it would be maximized. I've been using a blog to track my adventures, geocaching and otherwise, in the adirondacks, but love CYBret's idea. http://adirondackdiary.blogspot.com/ Jamie - NFA
