  1. aha...how weird...I sent it out for officer review, but it is broken out as follows below...sorry for my misunderstanding... That is essentially what I will be submitting for officer review on the 10th...with the advance notice given in the hopes that everyone will comment and vote beforehand... Thanks for everyone's input!!! Jamie - NFA
  2. I like the idea of asking people to rate their experience at each waymarked steakhouse to sort out the wheat from the chaff...as it were...I'll include that in the write-up...thanks Jamie - NFA
  3. Or reject it. Why should the Waymarking community accept blank categories? I don't understand your 2 responses...this is not a blank category...it is fully filled out with variable and descriptions and such...it is just not available to everyone as yet...just the officers as it has not yet gone to peer review...am I missing something...are you? Jamie - NFA
  4. If you think it is a superb steakhouse, waymark it...if you don't like restaurant categories...skip it... jamie
  5. I'd love to trade one for one of my personal geocoins... Jamie - NFA
  6. I drop one of my personal, non-trackable, geocoins into every cache I visit or place...along with one of my TFTC! geocoins...I keep an eye on the cache logs to see who picks it up, and do feel happy when I read those logs. Jamie - NFA
  7. I sent this out to all of the officers, but just in case it doesn't make it to you all...
  8. ok... I did email the group members, before and after the vote...nobody responded...perhaps therein lies the problem... Jake39: a category has to be written and approved before you can place waymarks...that is what the group officers are supposed to be working on...again, perhaps a part of the problem... the category proposed is here, although I'm not sure if you can see it if you're not a member. so now, having answered the previous reponses...any feedback... Jamie - NFA
  9. Ok...so what do I need to change, improve, leave out, etc. The category was a first draft, so let's move on from here, using the first shot as a starting point. I assume that everyone in the group wants to eventually put a category forward for superb steak 'stablishments...or else why join the group? So, please send me an email, and I'll fix it. Thanks, Jamie - NFA
  10. Or listed it as a micro, and then hid a 120mm mortar tube (a huge ammo can that I've used for another cache around here)...
  11. I've been YIMED, and it was wonderful!!! What a great coin! Thanks so much! Jamie - NFA
  12. My favorite is one of mine back by a lovely pond...I went out to check on the cache, and found: a log entry by a fisherman noting that it seemed like a fun game and that he had taken a whistle and left a beer a cigar a bag of goldfish Jamie - NFA
  13. It's a gorgeous hike, and a pretty island...I may end up doing it later this summer...thanks everyone! Jamie - NFA
  14. Thinking about why I started, and responded in, this thread... to use the diverse thinkers and experience of the members of this forum to help me think about why this idea keeps sticking in my brain, and to help me clarify my reasons for wanting to do this cache. It has served its purpose, and I thank each and every person who has posted, whether you support the idea or think it's crazy (or rude or selfish or stupid). Jamie - NFA
  15. Last summer I had a great time planning and creating a 21 stage multi-cache that took me about 2 weeks to set up. It involves bushwhacking to the top of mountains, hanging off the sides of cliffs, diving for hydro stages, lengthy night hikes, a couple of paddle stages, and a bunch of hiking around my part of the ADKs. It uses up a lot of real estate that could be used to make 21 individual caches (sorry RK and RPW), and most people will put it on their ignore list and/or never do it...It was certainly worth my time, even if nobody had ever found it...it was a blast setting it up. Other cachers are free to seek it or ignore it as they see fit, and amazingly, a couple of cachers have found their way to the final stage. I guess that I think about the long hike and swim to a micro cache in much the same way...it'll be fun for me...and for the few people who bother to look for it...the rest will put it on their ignore list. Jamie - NFA
  16. I think, "Why?" There's a cacher out here who is FTF or early to find on most of my caches, and he loves the places I lead. While we hanging out at an event recently, I jokingly asked him if he would go after a cache even if it had a long hike, and would be likely too difficult for him to find...the discussion led to the silliness of micro-sized caches in the back of beyond, and something about it appealed to both of us. Since that discussion, every time he sees or emails me, he asks when I'll list the "10 mile hike to a micro" cache... Jamie - NFA
  17. I find it funny that some people think that I was making a political statement, I'm just having fun hiding caches, and had a goofy idea...there are 6 million acres of park in the adirondacks, and I'd be using up part of one of them...horrors!!! I used up far more real-estate laying out my 21 stage 5/5 multi, which probably won't be found by more than 10 people ever...was that a political statement?...are all caches political statements, while all this time I thought it was just for fun... Jamie - NFA
  18. I've been thinking for a while about a teeny-tiny traditional cache hidden at the end of a brutal hike and swim. I would like to name the cache, "Ignore this Geocache", and fully describe the near-impossibility of reaching the coordinates and/or finding the container once there. It's a pretty spot where there is certainly room for an ammo-can, but for reasons I can't fully define, I would like to place a truly small container out there... What do you think? Jamie - NFA

  20. ok...I would like to retract and apologize for my snooty posts, and admit that having seen the stats, I kinda want to try out the software...it looks cool... Jamie - NFA
  21. ahhh, the "boob under star" coin finally hits the streets... just kidding...it looks cool Jamie - NFA
  22. I like to read long and interesting logs of visit to my hides, and enjoy looking at pictures that people took on their adventures... I also know that sometimes I don't have time (or the motivation) for long logs, and just write a quick note...so it only makes sense that other people are busy on unmotivated sometimes when writing logs for my hidden caches. I'm grateful that someone visited my cache, and especially grateful when someone writes in their log that they had fun, or sends me an email thanking me. I also recognize that for some, the outdoors and the exercise is the thing, and logging is just book-keeping...for that type, a TFTC! suits me just fine. Jamie - NFA
  23. Time spent = < 10 seconds really...you'd have to take the time to run the pq, and download the program and run it...you're pretty fast if you can do all of that in under 10 seconds although that's quicker than I thought...I figured it would be an hour with a calculator...it still is not my game..luckily there's room for all of us in the geocaching tent...
  24. I understand the question, and have some thoughts: 1) the ratings are nearly meaningless given the differences among the people hiding the caches and the people finding the caches 2) anyone willing to devote the time to figure out their "score" is playing a significantly different game then I am That being said...have fun! Jamie - NFA
  25. Most geocoins are hard to find as the vast majority never see the inside of a geocache... My personal geocoins are easy to find, as are the TFTC! geocoins that I made, as I leave one of each inside every geocache I visit... Does that make them worse or better than ones that can only be "found" on Ebay for hundreds or thousands of dollars? Jamie - NFA
