  1. As you are a member, and not a premium member, you can't get Pocket Queries so will have to send each cache one at a time. Use the Send To GPS button on the cache page.

You won't get any information about the cache, but your unit doesn't show it anyway.

(It'll save hubbies fingers for other things! )

    Want to try Premium Membership?

    Is it a new unit?

Register it at Garmin and Here on Groundspeak and get 30 days trial premium membership.

Then you can run a PQ and get hundreds of caches to load at once!

I will go and buy one now,Thanks for your help.Lynn.

Thanks,I already have a serial socket in my laptop as it's very old.lol.Lynn.

  3. You'll have to enter the co-ords by hand.

'Mark' your location, then Edit the numbers to what you want.

It's OK for two or three caches, but gets a bit tedious for 20!

The unit is a serial connection... There is a serial to USB adapter, it's worth looking around as the price varies from £10 to £20.

I've seen the adapter at Maplin Electronics and also on Amazon at different times, at different prices.

Thanks,I have a serial connection in my laptop,it's an old laptop. If I buy a lead what does it do?do I still have to put co-ords in by hand?Or can I download them from geocaching site?Hubby is moaning that it hurts his finger.lol.

  4. I have a 5800. I have SmartGPX which is very good for going paperless, but does not have a locate function. I am also using GeocachingLive for that but I don't like it, it is very fiddly on the 5800's small screen and is a bit messy to use. I will persist with it though.

The ariel is in a stupid position, it needs to be at the top or on the other side...to counter this (and to bypass the AGPS costs!) I am going to buy a Nokia LD-3W external GPS device, only £30 on eBay....

Thanks all for you replies.I have just bought a bluetooth GPS so I will see how I go with it.My Colorado 300 is on ebay if anyone is interested.Thanks.Lynn.

  5. Hi,I have a Garmin Colorado 300 with Topo maps of North and Midlands.

Comes boxed with all Manuals, disc,Belt Clip.Works well.I am gutted to have to sell this as I love it but really need money at the moment and I am getting a phone that I can Geocache with for the time being.

I want about £165 for it.Plus any postage costs,I am in Bolton,Lancashire. Many Thanks and thanks for reading.Lynn.

  6. Hi Linndyloo, I am using a nokia 5800 exclusively, with Trimbles GeocacheNavigator, and it rocks!

Accuracy is stunning, (from what I heard, phones are so 'passe')

I went to several points and logged the position, went to googlemaps and put the info in, and one point I was within 3 feet, on other points no more than 10 feet away.

DO NOT GET THIS FROM OVI they are charging £26 last time I looked. It can be bought from trimble for €15 (about £12) check your email

Not too sure why you'd want to sell the Colorado, your phone wont be waterproof, nor shockproof...

One lasst thing, when you first set up the phone for GPS lay it sideways it on a windowsill, at 45 degrees angle with the LEFT SIDE of the screen facing uppermost, (Thats where the ariel is) and leave it for 15 to 20 mins. Then its pretty good to go after that.

Not too sure about battery life, not done too much myself a grand total of 10 finds! but Im loving every moment

Thanks so much for your help. Will go on the website you give me.I am selling my colorado as really need money at moment and phone was free on my contract.lol.I do love the colorado though but don't geocache that often so it must go.Thanks.Lynn.
