  1. I want to thank all the category officers in the groups I lead or am a part of for your great support of categories over the last year when I was not able to. As many of you know I was diagnosed with rectal cancer one year ago today and the disease, treatments and side effects often prevented me from looking after the categories as well as I would like to but you all came through and I am extremely thankful to you all. As of yesterday when I had my last test of many, I am in a state of "no cancer detected". As some of you have noted my Waymarking activity has increased which has come about as my strength has increased. Along with my increase in Waymarking I have also been out riding my bicycle (actually its a trike) between 30 and 50 miles each day as weather permits and throw in a few rides of 60-100 miles for a challenge. Thanks again!!!
  2. The order on the grid is determined by when the category was started not when it was approved. The count in the grid does not include the last line of the grid (not sure why but just doesn't) I know of only one category that is not on the grid (Seattle Art and Seek, a special Groundspeak category), I don't know what the other would be.
  3. I agree with you on this. Also the signs/plaques located elsewhere could already be waymarked in other categories such as Signs of History or Citizen Memorials and the graves can not.
  4. I used to use it to when I knew I was going top create multiple waymarks for the same location. At that time photo uploading was not working well and was quite slow and often failed thus by cloning an uncategorized waymark I would have to upload the photo only once. Now that the major problems with photo uploads have been addressed I don't use uncategorized waymarks for anything now.
  5. They may be able to go into the Statues of Religious Figures category.
  6. If all you are interested in is stats especially visit date stats then Waymarking may not be for you. However there are other stats such as filling the category grid, state and country maps etc that are not time/date sensitive. I can't tell you why the visit date is setup the way it is, somewhere along the way the programmers coded it that way and it has remained.
  7. Still a prevalence problem. I can go down streets where nearly every house is wood and nearly all are over a 100 years old. You may be better off with the Polish National Heritage List, we have several similar categories for other countries, the largest category is US National Register of Historic Places category.
  8. I think you have an over prevalence problem. Where I live most buildings are wooden.
  9. The visit stats have always been that way on the site. They reflect the date you entered the visit and not the date entered for the visit. I don't expect that to change any time soon. The visit count should be correct, it will only count one visit per waymark. There may be a delay between when you log and when the count gets updated but should reflect correct number in the end. The stats for submitting waymarks reflect the date when the waymark is first saved.
  10. I have noticed it as well. I have resorted to displaying the whole category list and using the find function of the browser to get the desired category.
  11. It looks good. I would change the 61.822 to 61,822 for the number of sites currently listed or say something more general like "there are nearly 62 thousand"
  12. There is a category Dedicated Trees The Specific Veteran Memorials category will also take trees dedicated to a specific veteran.
  13. There is a category for firsts and another for superlatives.
  14. Actually the GPXlite file does not have any date for each waymark. The only date in the file is the datetimestamp for the file. The date is supplied by GSAK during the upload. As little/no coding has been done for Waymarking in a few years I would not expect this to change anytime soon.
  15. Try changing them from East to West and then back to East and and save immediately. That should fix your problem.
  16. Either take all your photos holding phone horizontally or you can use software to remove the 'orientation' setting from the photos and then rotate them and upload them. (Just rotating the photos does not fix problem completely) It is not just a problem with iPhone photos but any photos taken by a camera that sets the orientation of photos. I used to remove the 'orientation' setting using ExifCleaner, now I make the changes in Lightroom.
  17. I support the idea. I just wish I had taken more photos and coordinates of some I saw while in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand
  18. I would modify the waymark. I usually add GONE to the title and modify the text stating it is no longer there.
  19. For me it kind of depends on the object being waymarked and its visibility. I waymark many historic houses that are private but are clearly visible from the street and have no problem with that even though they may be a couple hundred feet from the street however I would not waymark a sculpture that is located in front of the house.
  20. Members of the category group can archive the waymark.
  21. You can place a comment on the Waymark and the owner of the Waymark will see it. For the Waymark listed in the wrong state you can edit the Waymark to correct the state.
  22. Most Waymarkers that have many categories inherited them either planned or unplanned when other previously active Waymarkers left the game or when groups were first formed and the person that started the category did not want to continue. If these Waymarkers had not stepped up these categories would have been inactive years ago. In many cases group leaders may want to promote some more officers but if they are not premium members they can not be promoted.
  23. I have removed a couple entries for being off topic. Wherigo has its own forum section and should be discussed there.
  24. The reason there are not separate forum sections for different countries is the number of posts total in Waymarking does not justify breaking it out. There are no restrictions if some desires to post their questions in their own language in this section of the forums.
