    TB idea

Got my first TB tags in the mail today and I have an idea but not sure how well it would work, so I'm going to run by the panel of experts here. It is a key chain with my family name (Quinn) on it with our family crest. I'd like to send that out with a mission of getting to Ireland. Thoughts? I don't care so much if I lose the key chain. Would it last?
  2. I want to place a cache in a park here that doesn't have one. I was quite surprised by this, but then I wondered if it was because of a muggle problem. Is there a way to see the archived caches from an area? I don't want to place it if it's just going to get stolen. Thanks!
  3. So I picked up a TB, but then went caching and I didn't drop it off (trying to find a good spot for it). Should I still dip the bug/coin into those caches since it was with me? As an owner, would you want the person to do that?
  4. The only log on that says they discovered it, but then in the log they say they will move it a long. Might want to contact them to see if they have it.
  5. Last night on Survivor, one of the players assumed that there would be a hidden immunity idol in there camp. So without a single clue, found a hole at the bottom of a tree, stuck is head up there and...VIOLA! There was the geocache...I mean immunity idol. Some one needs to send him to this site when the show is over!
  6. Earned my Eagle Scout in 1996 (I think) from Troop 53 in Rome, IL. I'm extremely proud of my award and when I was looking for a job and had it on my resume got more than one comment from people doing interviews about it being impressive. The troop folded a few years later.
  7. I wish it had a better compass. But it's GREAT for paperless if you use GSAK with it. I mean you get so much information on the screen.
  8. Any bets on if all 5 TBs are actually in this hotel? I was going to say, with my luck it'd be empty despite saying 5 bugs were there.
  9. No problem, just didn't want you to irk off a TB owner who heard some thing was attached to their traveler. If it's that easy to get rid of it may not be a big deal.
  10. Just FYI, there are some TB owners who do not like things attached to their bugs. In fact, some people widely discourage it.
  11. You had me all excited. I live in Bloomington, IL
  12. If a bug has been sitting in a cache for 3-4 months it is highly likely that moving the bug would help it, even if you can't directly assist its goal. How many bugs have you Discovered that you could have assisted? How many were sitting there longer than a month? I don't know. I've actually discovered more missing bugs than found bugs. The last 3 caches I've been to that says there is a bug hasn't had it. It's getting pretty frustrating.
  13. So what if you TB goes say 3 or 4 months with no activity, you don't want a discover to let you know it's still there if that person can't help with it's goal?
  14. I used it all the at first but now I only use it if a bug has been sitting for a while so people know it's still there.
  15. Usually the iPhone with the GC App but I also use the Nuvi 200 if I have planned far enough ahead or am doing some caches on a trip some where along a route. Really, the GSAK macro with a Nuvi is unbelieveable. I wish I could get all that information on one screen on my Vista that I can with the Nuvi.
  16. Did you look up it's behind for the log? Maybe you took the cache from the site! Just kidding.....very cute little guy and a great story. Too bad you found him at a cache location, you could hide a cache and tell your story there.
  17. Not only am I not interested in taking and/or placing a travel bug here but I don't think we will even do the cache. Feel free to completely ignore trade restrictions. Exactly. In fact you should go out of your way to raid it and take both trackables without leaving one and then point the CO back to this thread when they complain.
  18. Blue I swear your avatar changes every time I get online. Are you changing it often?
  19. You are right. The rules for the cache in question do not state rules for trackables however. The cache owner failed to respond to a mail asking for conformation of the coordinates of the final of his multicache. So writing to him may be in vain. Publicly dropping a note for a cache I haven´t found yet would be uncalled for. But that´s a different subject. Bottom line is: A cacher made no mistake and still he is the bad guy for the public. That does not encourage people to pick up trackables. Even if there are "rules" for trackables on the cache, they are not enforceable (I think I invented a word there). The CO owns the box, not the trackables inside the box.
  20. Hey, whatever works. Far be it from me to judge... Heh, obviously I meant live.
  21. Haha, think those chocolates in the cache are still any good? In the Australia one above that, only ONE person has logged any thing for it and it was a note, they didn't even get close to it. Maybe that terrain should be upped to 5 star. Heh.
  22. It's dove hunting season where I love right now. Might end up with some shell holes....
  23. That's awesome. I think you should release Pinky as well SNARF!! Brings back good childhood memories of watching Animaniacs after school.
  24. Some people will find trackables not interesting enough to deal with them. That´s their choice. There are some people who spoil the experience with trackables. Owners with exaggerated expectations can make cachers feel uneasy when they hold a trackable. This may keep some from even taking one. Pesky owners of caches can contribute to an unpleasant experience. A few days ago I browsed through the online log of a cache I was about to search for. A cacher logged "out: geocoin in: nothing". A few logs later the owner reacted "trade means trade not out:geocoin in: nothing". Nice thing - a cacher picks up a coin and the cache owner decides to pillory that cacher. I decided to stop caring for trackable rules like dropping within two weeks, helping on missions or following trade rules from cache owners. If I find a trackable and it appeals to me I pick it up, move it around a little and drop it in a convenient place. I think it makes more sense to let the trackables travel than follow the rules strictly and keep the item from travelling. After all it´s just a game - so lets play it and take it a little easy. You should politely let that cache owner know that he/she cannot impose rules on trackables. They do not own the trackables in the cache. The TB owner does.
