Ok, what percentage or roadside trash is (good, self-healing) plastic cups, compared to fast food litter, pop cans, bottles, etc? icon_biggrin.gif

OK a styrofoam cup... minimum life 50 years.

But you should see one after we send it to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico in 3500ft of water. icon_eek.gif The pressure squeezes it down to about an inch tall.

    Before you ask:

We make souvineers out of them. Each person signs a cup or draws a design. The cups are placed in a pourous bag and lowered to the bottom. When the come back up they are compressed! icon_biggrin.gif And they stay compressed, plus the signature is tiny and shrunk in proportion. Cool huh?? icon_biggrin.gif

You have any pics? I'd like to see this!!

  2. As a Trekker myself I have to agree with getting the "what you saw" version of the shirt.

And that is a nice version you have there. I've been to many conventions (never dressed up).

I have in person autographs from all the main stars in TOS except Bones. Lots of Next Gen, Voyager, and DS9 as well.

Rene Auberjonois and Armin Shimmerman are a blast!

Amen to that. We're in an Orange Alert and while the media is making a big fuss over duct tape and sheets of plastic, people are becoming immune to it. I'm not saying everyone should run out an panic but be mindful of the situation.

I'm glad that law enforcement is taking the orange alert seriously. We're all going to have to deal with a little more security and suspicion. This is not the same USA after 9/11.

Do you have a link to anymore info on that? I've never heard that.

  5. First, let me say that I belong to many forums and this is the first time I've seen the owner put something up for a vote!! Bravo. I greatly appreciate the gesture.

I'm fairly new at the whole geocaching thing. I like the idea of locationless (and I assume virtual) caches. There are alot of things in my state and in NYC I wouldn't have known about if not for the caches listed here. I'm watching all of them and plan to go soon.

However, I agree that a new system similar to benchmarking would be a good idea. And I like the name Photocaching as well.

I would like to see them stay in some form or another.

    Thanks.

I use both Streets and Trips and Delome Street Atlas 2003. I find S&T much easier to use. It also seems to have more Points of Interest. However, the GPS functionality is very limited. Delorme is much more difficult to use, but the GPS functionality is fantastic. Not only will it give you verbal directions but you can talk to it via a microphone and control the program. VERY cool!

    dyslexics of the world, untie.

So Delorme does give verbal directions? I didn't get that from their website. Looked like it only took verbal directions. I may just go with that then.

I've got my laptop in the car anyway so its no big deal for me.

Now, if I could hookmy GPS up to my Dell Axim that would be great too!

  7. Just a feeling.

I was a Palm user for quite awhile but when the Axim came out at a reasonable price I went with that.

It just seems that you can do alot more with PPCs. Although there is alot more freeware for Palms.

I have the Axim and the Linksys WCF12. It seems to work pretty well.

What I want to do it connect my eTrex Venture to the Axim.

  9. I'm looking for software for my laptop that will give verbal instructions on when to turn.

Say I want to go to Disney World. I'd want the software to pick a route and then use the GPS to navigate.

I have the Garmin eTrex Venture.

I'm confused about the format used on this site versus what Mapquest wants you to put in. It seems this site uses a hybrid of degrees/minutes and decimal, while Mapquest wants either all degrees/mintues/seconds or all decimal.

I'm new to this and I suck at math so I can't figure out how to convert!

Multiple (or divide) by 60. In other words, to convert N 46* 39.567' into degrees, minutes and seconds, multiple the non-integer portion of the minutes by 60. You get N 46* 39' 34" (rounded). To get all decimal degrees, divide the minutes by 60 and get N 46.659* (again rounded).

Thanks! I figured it was something simple like that!!

  11. I'm surprised. It seems that groups are formed out of a need to protect Geocaching. I was thinking of just a group of like minded folks getting together to discuss, meet one, another and perhaps geocache together.
