  1. I know the owner of this cache. Very nice guy. If you drop him an email saying that your bug has been in the cache too long or that you prefer not to have it in a hotel (not prison), he or a member of his team will get it out. As far as rules on hotels, I visted ones from PA to FL and they all had the same rule; one in .. one out. Just need to contact the owners if you want to opt out.

  2. Here is what the guide lines say, and my 2 cents wroth is it is a bad idea. More bases are becomeing closed installations limiting who could access them.

    Off-limit (Physical) Caches

By submitting a cache listing, you assure us that you have adequate permission to hide your cache in the selected location. However, if we see a cache description that mentions ignoring "No Trespassing" signs (or any other obvious issues), your listing may be immediately archived.

Caches may be quickly archived if we see the following (which is not inclusive):

Caches on land maintained by the U.S. National Park Service or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (National Wildlife Refuges)

Caches that are buried. If a shovel, trowel or other “pointy” object is used to dig, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not appropriate.

Caches that deface public or private property, whether a natural or man-made object, in order to provide a clue or a logging method.

Caches placed on archaeological or historical sites. In most cases these areas are highly sensitive to the extra traffic that would be caused by vehicles and humans.

Caches hidden in close proximity to active railroad tracks. In general we use a distance of 150 ft but your local area’s trespassing laws may be different. All local laws apply.

Caches near or on military installations.

Caches near or under public structures deemed potential or possible targets for terrorist attacks. These include but are not limited to highway bridges, dams, government buildings, elementary and secondary schools, and airports.

  3. I have to say no. People abused virtuals way too much. To give examples. There one here in GA where a person put a cache where he wasn't suppose to. So instead of archiving the cache, he turned it into a virtual. What do you see when you hike several miles out? A giant hole. Describe the hole, get your smilely. There is another one decribed as "native hieroglyphics", its graffiti. Based on the decription, I would have approved it. On finding it, no. Another abuse is making everything historical a virtual. If you have cached in the Virgina area or other highly historical areas, there are a overabundance of historical signs to turn into virtuals. You can easly geocache without a gps. Same problem with yours. I can go to your virtual and I don't need a GPS. There is no challenge. People could have hundreds of caches out there. For GC that would be a maintaince nightmare. I say make it an offset. You still achieve your goal of having people see it, and it gives them a little bit of a challenge.

    Just my .87 worth.

  4. Hey, as one of the owners of a cache in stone mountain, I thought I would put my two cents in. My cache is kids meal. It is not a difficult find, but a very nice walk in the woods. I would also suggest tour of stone mountain. If you want to do both multis, I suggest doing them together. Finding FRED is good, but bring a good flashlight. Skip the vituals. Hope you have a good visit to stone mountain.

  5. If you are a premium member, use the mapping feature. What I do on trips is find a cache along the route I am taking and then just keep moving the map along the route, noting the caches. I then go back and pull up the caches and see what looks interesting. Little bit of manual work, but insures that the cache is not too far off the highway.

  6. Well most bang for the buck would be Sone Mountain Park. I believe there are now 17 caches in the park. I suggest doing the two multi's and hitting the singles as you make your way around the park. The Yellow rivers are a lot of walking as well as the Tribble mills. Do you want puzzles are or are you just looking for increasing numbers?

  7. AMEN! I read a note the other day and I thought does this person think Geocaching is here to serve them? If we are all remember that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all, this would be a far more enjoyable sport. Thank you Geobear.

  8. Hey, just wanted to do an informal survey. Team Griff-N-Go is going to the Orlando area in June and wanted to see what were the must do caches in that area. Basically, I am looking for a top 10 list. There is a catch to this. Two members are 10 and 4 years old, so no 15 stage multi’s or ones that have complicated puzzles. Those are fine at home, but we will be fitting caching in with other vacation activities. We should have a canoe with us, so water accessed ones are ok. Thanks for the help.
