  1. I cant have a dog where I live but would love to take one caching if I did. Anyone got a rent-a-dog deal going on?

My mom just got a dog but she's only "home" 3 days a month so no chance of borrowing him too often!

  2. I always have new swag. And not the mctoy variety. True I get most of it on clearance and it costs 2 or 3 bucks a piece but its worth it. I cache w/ my 7 yr old son most of the time and he has wanted to use some of his toys as trade items. Legos, plastic animals, toy soldiers etc. If they are like new condition I'll tell him he can. I think it does teach him a bit about sacrifice and the "value" of sharing etc. But no we've never left anything I'd feel the least bit ashamed of letting the world see.. for that matter most of our swag has a sticker that says from team Red Clover somewhere on it.

  3. I would LOVE to trade sig items, though I'd reserve it for people that are not in my state of course lol.

My signature item is a red clover keychain fob (made w/ shrinky dinks and looks like my avitar) on the keychain is one of the old fashioned barrel type skeleton keys. I just won a buttload of them off ebay should be ready to send in a week. My boyfriends screen name is the undertaker so a good fit for the two of us.

Man oh man the emailing I'll be doing to some of you tonight.. there goes my beauty sleep lol

Feel free to drop me a line as well if your interested.

    edit for typo

  5. Im trying to download waypoints and have them go directly to my Sporttrack Mapping software. GC offers .loc format while the mapping will only open .wpt format. Any way around this other then loading in the gps as loc and then downloading in the mapping prog?

  6. As above not everone logs online. Also there are times when you may forget to log what was t/l. When caching w/ my son there have been times I've gotten back to the car and realized he took something that I didnt log. I usually try to update that in my post though. Since we do leave "good" swag I dont usually have to go back thank goodness to even up the trade.

  7. What I did was use a 1/16" drill bit and make a small hole in the support piece just above the screw. It is large enough to fit a VERY small key chain in. Becareful to drill strait across, not an an angle so you shouldnt have to worry about hitting the interior of the battery case. I've had a lanyard attached to mine and frequently let it "hang" while I'm standing still and looking around. Been using it like that for a month no probs! One note if you use the car mount you may have to do some creative rescupting of the bottom to get your new ring to fit. I used a small key saw and cut the bottom out of mine. Yep Im a woman w/ power tools :P

Never eat prunes when you're famished :o

  8. My thought on the "federal offense" deal is this... if it was illegal would every theme park, zoo, and historic location have these machines? No. Yet, I have seen and used them at: Jacksonville, FL Zoo, Atlanta GA Zoo, Stone Mountain State park, GA, Six Flags over GA, Disney World etc etc etc

  9. On average when Im cacheing I have 2 GPS a digital camera and several flashlights along. Btw, the 2nd GPS is my BF's so he's usually using it, while I have mine. So, is there a performance difference when using rechargeable batteries? I've seen the charge kits for AA, AAA batteries, but I've never seen them for C, D cells..

    What are your thoughts, expierences?

  10. I was recently a FTF. On my 50th cache.. it was already 2 days old when I got there.. I was thrilled to be FTF. Will I hunt for the chance to be first in the future.. probably not unless it just happens..

Ahh.. but the sight of that pure white log book sure was nice! And someone mentioned earlier that there is not "game trail" to the cache. It was a much harder find than more established ones (not to mention the mile and a half hike). So that aspect of getting to a new cache I really do like.

  11. I've found several caches on private property.. on 3 of them I met the property owners. They were all very pleased that i found "that box". I've inquired to get permission from 2 diff people on possibly putting a cashe out on thier land.. one has agreed another will get back to me. Just ask .. the worst they can do is say no.

  12. Congrats.. and yes it is addictive. Im jones'en now. I can either cache or have gas for monday morning to go to work. Why oh Why do the gods love to torment me so lol. Thank God I get paid Monday!

  13. I thought about getting mapping software for my sport trak .. then decieded 1/2 the fun was the "do you think we should turn here? is ther another road going to the right in the next mile or so" .. Of course this from a woman that just really likes to drive.. I used to go out as a teen and TRY to get lost .. then have to find my way home.. I sure could have used a GPS in those days!
