  1. You are correct, the (default) coordinate format displayed on Google Earth is different from that of geocaching.com.

     

    Either will work, but your equipment must be programed to use each specific type of format... you cannot intermix the two (or more).

     

    You can adjust the settings of Google Earth

    -or-

    You can adjust the settings of your GPSr.

     

    I recommend adjusting Google Earth, as it simply allows the use of coordinates from/to both sites easy.

     

    Google Earth:

    Top-line menu > Tools > Options... > Show Lat/Long box > select Degrees, Decimal Minutes > [Apply]

     

    You are now set to go. Coordinate formatting between geocaching.com and Google Earth will now match.

  2. ok I just got my new Magellan 610 , a few days ago and starting to get used to it , but I cant manually input a gps location from google earth , ok this is what I do I look on google earth for a location I like to go and at the bottom of google earth there are the gps numbers north and west , so I goto add a way point and input the coordinates , and I did a test close to home where I know the location and its way off by about 20 miles and in a different direction ? please any help would be appreciated , I can add a geo coach from this website no problem , maybe its the way the numbers are formatted ? thanks in advance. oh and I tried to search these forums but I kept getting and error ? again thanks.

  3. ok i had this gps for a while -magellan explorist 500 and i realy want to start to use all its features on my pc which i tryed on both my pc's that run windows xp and vista , i cant get anything to connect to my gps besides adding a gps cord , i was on a fishing web site and some one posted there gps track it showed a red line everywhere they whent on a map , which is what i whould like to do ,but they did not say what gps they where useing , is this possible with my gps unit ? thanks in advance
