  1. Okay. I'm an idiot. What does "splitting out an address" mean?
  2. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...c=9613&st=4650# xxxxtest
  3. Too late! Already sent it. Oh well, anything else I can or should do?
  4. Sending now. Thanks! I should have done that FIRST!
  5. I would like to start this post by saying thank you for providing this great website. I recently became a Premium Member and it is a real bargain. I have a request that I'm not sure can be performed, but it never hurts to ask, so here goes! We registered an account back in July 2001. I cached with my brother-in-law back then because I didn't own a GPS. When I started caching on my own I couldn’t remember the old account/password (until tonight) so I set up a new one. The account name WAS reusing. I changed it to MtCarmel a few minutes ago and validated it. Is there any way to merge the two accounts or transfer information from one to the other. We didn't find any back then but we did hide one (since archived) and having my original member date of July 2001 on my current account would be cool. Either way, thanks in advance! Trinity's Crew
  6. There are a couple of DNF's on my list that gave my ego a terrible bruising.
  7. I post, therefore I am. (an idiot)
  8. I've emailed a couple of owners when I was stumped. Anyone can attempt to contact an owner if they can't figure something out. It's up to them whether they give additional information. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Does EVERY cacher who logs a find on these caches get the extra help? Or only a few who couldn't find them after a couple of tries? Edit: Oh this thread is a couple of weeks old. Well, if you're still around a little clarification wouldn't hurt!
  9. The last time I called someone an FTFer they took a swing at me!
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding! Have fun! That's really what it's all about!
  11. Although I was introduced to geocaching by my brother-in-law Jim several years ago, it was also a new adventure for him. He had just bought a Vista and stumbled across geocaching on the internet and was gracious enough to include my family. We looked for 2 caches and didn't find either one. We even placed one at an island in the Chesapeake bay near my home. (It was trashed) Jim's interest waned quickly and I didn't have a GPS, so we stopped. I never forgot those adventures and when I finally got my own GPS my family and some friends started caching immediately. I really didn't have a mentor and consequently I have made a lot of mistakes. I browse the forums for viewpoints and guidance. They are very helpful. I have seen it written many times that the forums don't accurately reflect the views of the GC community at large, but I disagree. Most issues are discussed from just about every angle if you read through an entire post. So for now, I'll keep stumbling along, trying not to screw up too much!.
  12. Does this mean that my fake "Nuclear Missile Silo" cache is out of the question?
  13. My shipping and handling was displayed before I was asked to make payment. I was also going to get charged $7.84 for shipping. Qty SKU Item Price Total 1 609555921466 Micro Cache Log Book 711701 GEO - Yellow $2.50 Subtotal: $2.50 Shipping & Handling Cost (UPS Ground): $7.84 Sales Tax (No Tax): $0.00 Total: $10.34 I ended up not placing the order. Just wanted to check things out for myself. Now THAT makes sense. I couldn't believe the charges would be added AFTER authorization.
  14. The only thing I have purchased here with a credit card was my membership. No handling or shipping charges for that! Are you sure that the shipping charges weren't shown early enough in the process to allow a cancellation? That would be unusual.
  15. I would consider a two to three mile round trip as significant. Significant enough to indicate it as such on my cache page anyway. I do understand the .5 mile guideline though. Most of the caches I have found have been .2 to .3 miles away from the nearest parking area. I am surprised (pleasantly so) when the caches are placed a mile or more into a park. Edit:spelling
  16. Thank goodness it was a STATUE of a team mascot!
  17. I'm not sure that there is one. That's why I asked the question. I see from your post (and some others) that there may not be any. Thanks!
  18. Ban them? Maybe not. Suggestions to modify the rules in an attempt to weed out the "bad" ones? Yes, though I am not advocating anything like this. In my mind, #2 is more along the lines of fighting (with no intentional malice) a "perceived injustice" for the while #3 is more like "%#*% you! Nobody will tell me what to place or where to place it!" Perhaps a subtle difference, and no need to list them both. As for whether there is direct impact to the posters, I guess it depends on one's proximity to them.
  19. I have no problem with any type of cache. There are some types that I enjoy more than others, but I'm sure that's true for most people. But I wondered (and posted the question) do you think the recent threads in the forums railing against "lame" caches, i. e. parking lot micros, etc... is causing the casual forum reader to place this type of cache. There could be many possible reasons for this: 1. As I stated in the topic starter, they really enjoy this type of hide and want to make sure they get one out there (grandfather clause) for fear that new, more stringent guidelines may be on the horizon. 2. They don't like the posts and this gives them an opportunity to "fight back". 3. It give some an opportunity to "thumb their nose" at the more prolific posters on the subject. I don't know if any of this is occurring, I just wondered if it might be. And a lot of other possible reasons that I haven't thought about. Edit to add last comment
  20. Okay, but do we have to find 500 to complain about the people complaining? If so, I had better get busy!
  21. I have read and posted about the "lame" cache problem that some people believe is plaguing the game. This discussion invariably leads to examples of parking lot micros, or lamp post micros, so it got me wondering whether all of the debate has gotten people concerned. Maybe all of the forum buzz is reverberating through the GC. community and people are placing micros at an increased rate for fear that new regulations may be on the horizon. Look at how hard it is to get a virtual approved now. That problem was debated here too. Any thoughts?
  22. Although he does appear to have been absent for a long time. I could fault the owner for leaving the cache unmaintained for such a long period of time, but I don't know the circumstances of his hiatus. As you mentioned, even you didn't log an SBA note, so maybe we , as cachers, need to do this in a more timely fashion when it becomes obvious that the cache has become trash.
