  1. I'm holding a Geocaching Art Exhibition, showing the creativity used in Geocaching. The event, 'The Art of Geocaching' (http://coord.info/GC1X98A) will have a Wooden Nickel display, so I am on the lookout for wooden nickels as exhibits. So would anyone like to trade their wooden nickel for an event wooden nickel? Side 1 Side 2 Each nickel is uniquely numbered. I will also send contributors a comment book.
  2. Thank you everyone for your support, submissions and encouragement. I'm receiving geocoins at the moment and I will post their delivery and their displays when they are ready. Thank you drneal, your Kathy's Geocoin has arrived and seeing it physically is just awesome. It is so beautiful and I have great pleasure and honour in displaying it in the exhibition. I'm in the process of organising the display cabinets. The cabinets will be A3 size (297mm × 420mm or 11.7' × 16.5 '). By default I will put geocoins in the sealed cabinets with the tracking codes hidden (i.e. the backs against the wall). However, I will give each exhibitor three choices: (1) Inside the cabinet with the tracking code hidden; (2) In the cabinet with the tracking code displayed next to it (so visitors can discover it); (3) The geocoin available for visitors to handle and touch I have planned to leave some comment cards dotted around the gallery. Visitors can then put the exhibit number on the card and their comment. I'll collect these together and return them to exhibitors. There is also an event wooden nickel (sorry it's not a geocoin) that is numbered. I will give each exhibitor one of these as a keepsake and a thank-you.
  3. No problem. I'll post some photos when I get home...
  4. I have only done two letterbox hybrids but I remember them well, the first had a huge stamp (about the size of an adult man's hand) and the other has a tiny stamp. I fully agree with Lone R's post and letterbox hybrid hiders should go to the trouble of making their own specific/theme stamp. It would make a more enjoyable hunt for the seekers. However, this has been baffling me for sometime now. I think someone (Groundspeak or someone else) should sell letterbox stamp books, and services to make your own stamp. But at the same time make the size of the stamps the same size _ like poker chip size for instance. Just a thought! Any entrepreneurs interested in doing this?
  5. I have a 'doorbell' cache in operation (GC1RAM4), which has recieved very good responses. I have had finders PM me with compliments. I'm currently testing a 'key finder' cache. I left this container on my property in torrential rain, cold nights, warm sunny days and it still works… However it works too well! The slightest sound and the thing goes off. I thought after a couple of weeks out in the field it would calm down, but unfortunately it is still going strong. I also have a similar cache in development…
  6. I found a small laminator at a car boot sale for £3 ($5). I get the business card laminating pouches from a discount store 50 for £1 ($1.50). So I would look around yard sales for laminators, they are an impulse purchase. After a muggle purchases one they soon discover they only use it once and will want to get rid of it.
  7. The address is: The Art of Geocaching Event The Pitt Studio 62 Chestnut Walk Worcester WR1 1PR United Kingdom Please be sure to mark your package with 'The Art of Geocaching', and don't forget to leave a return address.
  8. We need your email address too...to send the pictures. The email address is info@pittstudio.com.
  9. Wow, thank you all for your help and contributions. I'm very appreciative. I'm sure visitors will be really impressed like I am with your exhibits. On the day, I will report back with photos and comments. Thanks again.
  10. Yeah that's great. Please send the image (as hi-resolution as possible). Thanks
  11. I'm holding geocaching Art Exhibition called, 'The Art of Geocaching' (GC1X98A). I'm on the lookout for exhibits, so I would like to ask if anyone would be willing to lend me a geocoin(s), or plans for geocoins, or anything geocoin related for the exhibition. I will have a section of the gallery dedicated to geocoins and I can accommodate owners' wishes, i.e. can/can't be handled, hide track codes etc… The postal address can be found on the cache page http://coord.info/GC1X98A. In return for lending the item(s) I will return it with a comment book signed by visitors to the exhibit.
  12. Fine, we have both come to the same conclusion. The education comes from the OPs use of Churchill's Speech (history = education). But hey, just change the text to read: 'Please educate entertain the masses with the principles of freedom, democracy, liberty, fraternity, etc...'
  13. I can't be bothered to create a puppet account so just pretend I'm someone else… Wow! What a brilliant idea for a puzzle cache. It has inspired me to create a multi-cache in my home city Birmingham, England. I love Birmingham so I am going to create a multicache based upon all the evil parts (and made-up evil parts) of Bill Clintons visit. The cache page will explain the places in Birmingham, London which were visited by Bob Clinton, 10th unelected King of the Kingdom of America. Such as the café where he made a ill-informed comment about canals, also the place where his aides whispered in his ear about the Freedom for America terror-group who hijacked planes and crashed them into the twin towers in Scotland, England. The clues will take you around the streets of Birmingham where you have to find burnt pieces of the star spangled banner, with a number written in the blood of an American. The final cache will be a box placed outside the Queen of England residence, Bucketandham Palace in Birmingham. The final cache is plastered with 'BOMB!', BNP, KKK, APL, NF, etc. logos, but the Republican logo will be hidden inside the box, out of views of muggles. [The above is a joke to prove a point!] @OP: If you want my two cents worth (or 2,000,000,000 Reichmarks worth), I would only mention an ex-Nazi involvement on the cache page in text, if it is proved fact. I would not glorify it by creating 'Nazi Treasure'. Please educate the masses with the principles of freedom, democracy, liberty, fraternity, etc.. Otherwise, leave the swastika idea alone for another 50 years when I think it will be less offensive. There are still people alive who were affected by the Nazi's
  14. In 1946 even if there were Nazi's (in German or USA) they would never promote it. The 'Sinews of Peace' address was about the Cold War and nothing to do with Nazi's. It was the seed (the very start) of the world power of the USA, the birth of the United Nations and the chance for the English-Speaking nations to show the world peace, democracy and freedom. This is something we're still trying to do over 50 years later! Yet to OP wants to associate this with Nazi's (sorry ex-Nazi's). I can imagine little Johnny back as school… "What did you do in your summer vacation?". "I went geocaching with mom and dad in Fulton, Missouri. There was this true man and a church man, and the best bit, real Nazi treasure". Kids will pick up on visual aids first.
  15. Am I missing something here? Winston Churchill's 'Sinews of Peace' address was about liberty, freedom and the 'special relationship'. It was made in 1946 after the Second World War (the Nazi's had been defeated). It has more to do with the cold war than Nazi's, in fact, in the speech Winston Churchill never once mentioned the term 'Nazi'. The fact that you are trying to change history offends me more.
  16. What a beautiful log and wonderful story. It’s these strange occurances that often happen in life that enchant us all. Thanks for sharing it.
  17. If you spent a lot of time and concentration on them and you are pleased with the result then I would consider that art. Create one more painted concrete frog and send it to me and I'll show it in the exhibition.
  18. I have now set a date for the 'Art of Geocaching' exhibition, it is 17 October 2009. Details on where to send any exhibits are shown on the cache page: http://coord.info/GC1X98A. Please remember to add a return address. Thank you for your support.

  20. Thanks for your support and encouragement. I have a large digital display available on the day so I can loop through a selection of photographs that people send me. I have would love some signature items as well, it may even give visitors some inspiration to create their own.
  21. Yes, anything that concerned with geocaching that has had a lot of artistic talent put in. A hand-crafted signature item or a camo cache container will be great.
  22. I'm planning a small Geocache Event with a slight twist. I'm booking a day in an art gallery and I will be organising an 'Art of Geocaching' event, whereby I intend to display creative and artistic talents used in Geocaching. This may be a geo-quilt, a painted ammo box, a home-crafted signature item, spectacular or humorous photos, a geocoin etc. in fact anything to do with Geocaching where a great detail of artistic talent had been used. The event is to take place end of October or early November, I haven't finalised a date yet. The gallery is in Worcester. However, the gallery is empty and as yet I only have one exhibit. So I'm asking through the forums for help. I would like to know if anyone would like to send me an exhibit. For photographs send me a hi-resolution photograph via email. I will chose a few photos and mount them onto canvass; this will be given to the contributor after the event. For more 'solid' objects, I will also return the exhibit after the event; no return postage is necessary but it would be appreciated. If you near Worcester you can leave your contribution at the gallery doors. I intend to leave a small comment book next to each exhibit, so visitors can add comments. I will gladly return the comment book with the exhibit as a memento and a thank-you. If you want more details and postal addresses please contact me through my profile page.
