  1. I had given up yesterday, haven chased a yellow Jeep Wrangler to the Interstate (GPS wouldn't launch fast enough to catch it icon_rolleyes.gif ) on Thursday, but yesterday, with family from Florida in the car, we caught one at Panera's in West Des Moines. They were quite perplexed as to why we'd be so excited to see one, they have two in the parking lot near where they work. I'm sending the photos momentarily.

  3. I've hung around at Marsh enough now that security might think I'm stalking someone. I think I'll try one more time tomorrow morning, but then I'm giving up on that location. Waukee is a small town, I'll start asking around to see if anyone knows the owner.

There is an employee at Marsh in West Des Moines (approx 60th and University) who parks in the back parking lot. Be aware that security may stop you to question you. There are also a couple of them in Waukee, just west of there a few miles. I'd suggest hanging out at McDonalds or the YMCA in Waukee, but you'll probably have better luck at Marsh offices. Just be quick about it if you don't want security to catch up with you. I tried to warn the owner about the geocaching game, cuz I was going to do it myself, but just haven't gotten around to it.

There is a very active Jeep club in Des Moines, Iowa, that you might want to contact, too. I'll see if I can find an email address for you.

    Good Luck!

  5. (quote from ScooterJ)Plus, he even taunts you about thee tag number in his first post. Your travel bug is almost certainly still in "Mary Shelley's Schloss". (end quote)

Yep, I think so, too. I've sent email to the people who have posted the log entries with the tracking numbers and I hope that they'll edit or remove the entry as they see fit. I just hate doing it to other people's posts, but I may end up doing it myself.

I've also written a note in the Mary Shelley's log noting the incident and hopefully the next visitor can verify that it is there. It may have been picked up by a visitor already and I've sent an email to him/her asking about it. In any case, I agree, I think its still in the game. Just anxious to get word on its whereabouts. I'm trying to be patient. icon_rolleyes.gif

  7. I have a TB that started in Germany and went around the world (Australia, California, Turkey and back to Germany) all in one day! I suspect its because an earlier geocacher posted the tracking number in the log and someone decided to get cute and send it virtually around the world. I'm trying to track down the TB now, but haven't decided how to deal with the source of the problem. Any suggestions? I've sent a note to the person that posted the tracking number and am awaiting a response.

I cannot find where the perpetrator actually logged the cache finds around the world, so I assume he/she deleted them after posting the TB in and out of them. But I'd like to find the TB's location before I go deleting the assumed false TB log entries.

  8. I invited some friends at work to go hunt a cache hidden only about 1.5 blocks from the office and we had about 5 of us go (the first time) and the guy that was the most critical of the game turned out to be the one finding the cache. The next day he bought a GPS and took his nephews geocaching. Another person in that group won a $100 gift certificate and she bought a GPS with it. The three of us from that original group, have been out a couple more times together. And since our names all begin with "J", hence the J-Team. icon_biggrin.gif

I have a regular email list (including some key clients and co-workers) that I notify each time I plan to go out at lunchtime during the work week. Its always great fun to take a bit longer lunch and hunt caches. I think we'll be able to talk the boss into going next time. Just looking for a good weather day to ensure that we all have a good time.
