  1. Well for me, I always used to buy the Fish and Wildlife Parking Pass as there are a lot of those areas near me, also I will start opting out of the state parks fee on my wife's car and my own so that was combined $22 a year. So this new pass will really only be a hit of $8 a year for me and the added benefit of its a year from time of purchase not April 1 to April 1 like the Fish an Wildlife parking pass was. Also here is the distribution breakdown DNR would receive 8% of the revenue, WDFW another 8%, and the balance - 84% - would go to State Parks. The legislature projects that pass revenues will total around $65 million per biennium. If the revenue exceeds $71 million, the excess revenue will be split equally among agencies. The agencies may only use this revenue for operating public use and recreational facilities, including trails. May not like it, but I will pay it, pros out weigh the cons for me.
  2. 148 caches, yikes! Should be fun.
  3. That is a massive change! Very impressive.
  4. what GPS do you have? I have a 60CX, would love to upgrade but that isn't in the budget right now.
  5. Forget geocaching...... 1) What emergency responder travels 60 miles? 2) You charge for your emergency response? 3) Your pager goes off for you to respond to an emergency 60 miles away and you have time to mess around loading a few caches to your gps? WHAT THE HELL ORGANISATION DO YOU WORK FOR??????? I am an environmental geologist as it says in my profile. I respond to oil spills from electrical transformers for the local power company. I cover the the entire coverage area for the company, covering over 120 miles north to south, and almost 200 miles east to west. Rapid response is needed to prevent the release from having time to spread, or I could leave your power off and toxic chemicals in your front yard. What the heck were you thinking of? A little quick to jump to conclusions as we? When I leave the site the situation is resolved and my time becomes my own. Actually I so wanted to respond to this in a mocking manner so lets call this next section the first responces that came to mind ****note the following is sarcasm and not true**** 1)one who likes milking the job 2)yep, and I charge a lot as well 3)What? its not *MY* emergency, I will get there eventually. Forbid I travel that far from home and I can't find some caches. An organization near you! Oh and I eat babies too. :) :)

WHAT THE HELL ORGANISATION DO YOU WORK FOR??????? plumber, computer repair would be a guess. But I'm pretty sure AndrewRJ is neither but he is not a EMT or fireman. Guess Jim was a bit faster on the trigger then me, but yes non life threatening, on call, rapid response, Environmental Geology work.

  8. why you even bother doing that when you're a premium member and can run PQ? I can give you one example of this. Boss walks into my office and says, "drive to town X" which happens to be 60 miles from office. Boss knows that I cache and allows me to grab a cache after I complete the job (note I don't charge for the time I am caching) I have no way of knowing which town town X is going to be as I am an emergency responder. I don't have time to run a PQ and I am not allowed to have GSAK on my work computer. I can however pull up the map, and quickly send 2 caches to my GPS. Very easy and quick. Not everyone caches in the same way and for me the I have less then 5 minutes usually to get out the door after my pager goes off. Speed is necessary.
  9. Is anyone else having problems with the GSAK filter not returning results for Beaux Arts Village? I have three qualifying caches there and when I run the file none of them show up. I have filtered for the appropriate type, (ones in Bellevue show up fine) and the arc poly tab is a direct import from the downloaded file. I have also tried just cutting and pasting the BAV portion and running a seperate filter on it. When I do this it returns the three caches. Could there be a problem with overlap or because BAV is inside Bellevue? Just wondering if anyone else is having/noticed this, or if it is just me. The three caches in question are GCYY96 up up and away GC1BXKF Ha take that GCRN3A Chesterfield beach.
  10. Why not just say what's up?! Probably for the same reason I didn't. Discussions among friends about events in their lives, may not mean that they intended the information to be public. I can however explain that the process is moving forward without breaking an unspoken agreement of confidentiality when things like that are discussed. Or he may just enjoy being vague. YMMV
  11. The implication that I understood, I may have misunderstood, was that for the application I was speaking of the API is already in use. Of course I may have totally misunderstood, it has been known to happen.
  12. Its not really fabled, Goundspeak has already released the API to "trusted partners" who are developing it as a beta. I was recently told offhand by a lackey that a well known app has now partnered with Groundspeak and is using the API.
  13. Hmmm well I guess I have to go back to Waterville, last time through I just grabbed the Wherigo. I did think it was odd that you took the time to exclude a type of cache that has a container (I understand why you did it based on your above post) but actually bothered to include the ape cache. Am I missing something? how could that possible even qualify for anything? Just an artifact of a previous version?
  14. I will be there in spirit, but not in the flesh. Have to be in Issaquah too early in the afternoon.
  15. Well I hope someone chimes in and tells you of some not to be missed spots, but I would not recommend the ET power trail... It was archived last month. Might be kinda frustrating. Now you could go down and do some of the Route 66 Power trail. I just got back from there and enjoyed it a lot.
  16. Sounds like you are talking about our group we will be doing needles and Barstow on the 24th route 66 on the 25th and 26th and the I will be in Vegas from late on the 26th thru the 29th which is when I will be in searchlight chances are on the 28th. Scubasonic I am fairly sure that you are not part of the group I am thinking of as I know all 4 people in that group, unless things have changed. I am part of a group of 2. The group of 4 will be there wed and my group is flying out there at 6am on fri morning. Flying home on Mon afternoon. Either way its funny how many of us are going to be down there at the same rough time. I have also gotten an email from another cacher that will be down there who is (I think) from Cali.
  17. I will have to see where I am on the 27th, there is a small group from the PNW that will be doing route 66 that weekend. Maybe we can cross paths.
  18. You know, I have all my tags on the wall and I am sure I am missing some. Any chance you could tell me how many I have. I would love to try to figure out what ones I am missing. Or how is the new website going? I checked there first but it looks like there is a bit missing still. Admittedly I haven't looked in a while.
  19. Nice article... A few small details wrong, but still nice to see that we were pumping that much money into the local economy. Also funny to see that the owner of the inn wouldn't give the NDOT worker ice. HEHEHE.
  20. In the other thread in the main forum it has been stated (this is now third degree take it with a grain of salt until it is confirmed) that Groundspeak got got a strongly worded letter from the Nevada Attorney General or a lawsuit... Something to that effect. Seems that there was an incident with a cacher almost causing an accident with a snow plow. Like I said some good info in the other thread.
  21. Dang!!! Now the series has been archived. I was looking forward to my visit. Oh well I am still comming, I will just have to find something else to do.
  22. Thanks guys. It was on my B-day as well. I should get some photos up soon. The family and I went over to Bainbridge for the day to grab this one.
  23. I was there... Nuff said. Actually Jeff didn't realize it until after logging. It wasn't a planned milestone.
  24. Sure, so there will be a list of the 205 "cities" in Washington State Aberdeen-Zillah. Of those you would need to find one cache in a different city for each letter of the Alphabet (begins with). There will also be a list of the 76 "towns" in Washington State Albion-Yarrow Point. Of those you would need to find one cache in a different town for each letter of the Alphabet (begins with). You would additionally need to find one additional cache for each letter of the alpahbet from either list. So it would be something like this, for the letter M you find a cache in Monroe, that would qulify for your "city" cache. You then find a cache in Mattawa, that would qualify as your "town" Cache. You would then need to find one additional cache from either a city or a town that begins with the letter M. So would you be able to find say 2 in Monroe and one in Mattawa and have that be your 3 or whould it need to be 3 seperate places?
  25. I am out, wife says I only get one outing this weekend and I am using that elsewhere.
